This was a good, clean, quiet hostel with basic but nice facilities. I had a light, fresh single bedroom with a very comfortable bed but minimal other furnishings. The shared bathrooms were across the landing but I never had to wait for one to be free. They were always clean, warm with good hot showers. Underfloor heating in the bedroom...

The Hostel is about 15 to 30 minutes from tegel airport and it cost about 20 euros taxi. We arrived at night and though late at night there is no receptionist you can get a code by email and let yourself in. The receptionist was there and he was really helpful and informative...actually all the staff we met there were...

This isn't a hostel in the traditional sense; there's very little common space to get to know fellow travelers and what there is isn't inviting, compared to other hostels that have open courtyards and inviting space. But the location is right in the middle of Prenzlauer Berg and the neighborhood has a lot of character and charm, plus nightlife. The...

This is a great hostel in the funky Prenlauer Berg district of Berlin. The rooms are clean and funky (try and get a room away from the noisy main road), and the bathrooms are very clean and private. The staff are very nice too.

The Aurora hostel is located in a fairly new building in the hip Prenzlauerberg district of East Berlin. It is easy to get to, with a tram stop directly outside and it is a few minutes walk from/to Schönhauser Allee station on the U-bahn. It is also very close to the bustling trendy intersection of Danizger Strasse/Kastanienallee/Schönhauser Alle which teams...

Planning our '07 Interrail trip, my girlfriend and I did a lot of research online. Travelling with friends is one thing, but this would be my first real trip with my gf, so I wanted to avoid the stress and strain of arriving at crap places just barely useful for crashing after a night out. Knowing how lodgers have a...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
