Its in an ok location, close to some sights. The buffet breakfast is overpriced best to look at the breakfast menu instead. The resturant and bar is nice, food is good but i still would appreciate the option of a kitchen which they dont have. The rooms are clean, but the whole building is just a concrete grey block with...

This hostel is within 5 minutes walk from Friedrichstrasse station which is very convenient and main attractions are all walkable. When we arrived the staff was friendly but didn't explain much about our accommodation. They did provide us with some good advice about a free walking tour which we went on the next day. Our room was small but clean...

Stayed for 4 nights in a 6-person female room. Was largely empty in the room I was at (which made for a good restful night of sleep) during the first few days but then gradually filled up. Very clean room, with lockers that require your own padlock/lock to secure, and an ensuite shower and bathroom. Reception staff were always friendly...

Only stayed for a night, but the quality of hostel exceeds my expectation and the staffs are friendly too. I will stay again as it's perfect location for everything, so convenient and transport link is good

The location was fantastic, right off one of the main streets but far enough that it was quiet at night. I loved the vibe of the place and the rooms were clean. The staff were very helpful and all speak good English and a few other languages. Free wifi throughout the hostel. Would definitely recommend.

We booked a New Years apartment earlier in 2013. Two couples, one from Munich one from London. We booked around 4 - 5 months early as we were worried that it would fill fast and that by booking early we would get the best deal. We booked through Hostelbookers. A couple of months later we saw on both HB and...

We stayed at the baxpax downtown hostel between Christmas and NYE 2013. We booked one of the studio apartments which was spacious (especially the bathroom) and had a kitchenette with a saucepan, crockery and cutlery. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't work in the particular room we were in as it was on the top floor and probably furthest from reception. The...

All the staff we encountered were super friendly, really helpful and knowledgeable. The location of this hostel/ hotel is central and a very short walk to both the S and U train stations, making it super easy to navigate your way around Berlin. There are loads of eateries within a short walking distance and a supermarket. Our room was super...

We stayed in a private room on the 5th level. Really easy to find and travel from on our 4 nights exploring berlin. Recommend it if your looking for a good base, and don't mind something that's tidy but also rough around the edges. We had a pretty good time in and even better around Berlin

This place is very well located, just walking distance (like 3 mins) to two metro stations and to the Berlin Hauptbahnhof (if you're not carrying a lot of bags), actually it's walking distance to some of Berlin's main attractions such as Museum Island and Humboldt University. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the common space is great (with...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
