not the flashiest hotel around but we found it very comfortable and clean, the breakfast was basis but was nice, it was enough for myself and wife. room comfortable but the weather was hot and there was no air conditioning or fans. good walking distance to main area of Berlin. Was noisy in the morning but there was a construction...

On the good side, the hotel is close to U Bahn and tram services and within 20 minutes walk of the main station. But it is very basic. My ground floor room was clean but there was noise from outside and from the interior plumbing - my bed seemed to be right next to the downpipe from the bathrooms of...

We stayed there June 2015. We had booked 4 nights, and pre-paid for a lower nightly rate. Unfortunately my grandson had to shorten his trip to make a college test. They were NOT accommodating with refunding 2 nights. I would have paid the regular nightly rates for 2 nights. But they would NOT do that either. I had to pay...

I arrive at 8.30 pm and spent 40 minutes trying to gain access, due to an error on the part of the Hotel who entered the wrong code, entry was denied despite several phone calls to both the numbers listed and to directory enquiries until my phone credit had gone. I gave up and left in a state of frustration and distress...

The first room I was given at this hotel was a nightmare. The shower would not drain and was overflowing onto the bathroom floor. I tried to pull the drain out and ended up pulling prior guests' shed hair out. Then, the room started to smell like sewage/rotten eggs. Since there is no hotel staff available in the evening, I...

I made the reservation through booking.com, no problems at checkin. The rooms are renovated and spacious, I kind of liked it. Nevertheless, our room ewas in the floor, very close to the street, but it was not so much noisy. As we needed to leave early in the morning, we couldn't try the breakfast. Anyway, taking into account the price...

Excellent hotel for anyone travelling on a budget. Very good location - around the corner from Naturkundemuseum and only one U-Bahn stop away from Oranienburger Strasse or two stops from Friedrichstrasse. Large, light and clean rooms and a nice breakfast. Great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking in a secure courtyard for only EUR...

Gaestehaus Berlin Mitte provided an excellent home base for our week stay in Berlin. It doesn't come with a lot of fancy amenities, but it had the basics. It was clean and comfortable, and had friendly staff. The walls and doors were a little thin, but we weren't troubled by much noise. They had laundry facilities, bike rentals, and are...

Very shabby electric switches hanging off etc. double bed to wide for room so had to climb into it from the bottom as couldn't get around the sides. Notified hotel in advance of our late arrival but no staff available and poor signage meant we were fortunate another resident gave us instruction how to get into our room. If you...

I stayed in this hotel for three nights with my partner and we were both quite happy with it up until our last night. Upon arriving at 8am (we were just going to leave our luggage until check in) Cyril I believe his name was on the desk said someone hadn't shown up the day before so a room was...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
