5 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz Lovely small hotel with nice staff and comfortable single rooms. Had a very pleasant stay and also enjoyed their (limited but OK) breakfast. Public transportation available right in front of the hotel. Would definitely recommend it for a short stay in Berlin.

Good situation in Berlin, just 5 minutes walk to Alexanderplatz. The staff is nice and polite. The hotel is basic, cleaned and nice decorated. The single rooms are small but cosy, mine was on the ground floor and had and access to a small garden. Recomended 100 % Good Deal

(Visited july 2013) It's actually more just 'good' than 'very good', and it's better than average so it's in between. Not very expensive, the location is great, breakfast was disappointing, the coffee was undrinkable, the rooms were alright. The place looked really crisp and fresh, and our rooms (in the back) were really quiet.

This was a clean hotel with a basic breakfast. The staff spoke excellent English. The tram and bus are very close by, which made it easy to get to all the tourist attractions. Wifi was excellent. We could walk to Prenzlauer Berg where we went to dinner most nights.

Location was good. Tram stop is just in front of the gate & famous 200 bus stop is 3 minutes walking. Alexanderplatz is 2 stops by tram. - friendly staff - excellent wi-fi - good breakfast. ALTHOUGHT REQUESTED FOR DOUBLE BED WAS GIVEN TWIN BED WHICH CONSTANTLY MOVED APART. VERY FRUSTRATING. NO LIFT.

Are you into breakfast do not choose this hotel! The food and facilities are really bad. The rooms are small and simple but clean. The walls must be thin since I heard my neighbour speaking on the phone - I literary heard every Word. The location is good.

Stayed here with a group of students from my journalism class. Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and nice and clean rooms. Good location, and everything you need nearby. A good choice if you travel with friends or a group.

I had stayed at the Alex last year so knew what I was getting for not a lot of money. I was there last weekend and the room was at the back ( No.7) and had a private courtyard where my friend's room No. 8 opened onto. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, you get free Wi-Fi, free breakfast and...

The staff and the service in this hotel was great. The rooms are all turn of the century Ikea, but the whole thing made beautiful by the tree outside my window. A real oasis. Nearby is the Friedrichshain Park in all it's fabulousness. Dog was welcome. Rooms were clean. Staff were firm about noise - but young people and families!

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
