Terrible practices and service. We had been assigned a suite given the help of the Ritz Carlton in Berlin and our stay there and a lifetime titanium membership. They assigned us the suite and then changed it after we were a few hours late given an unfortunate situation with our train from Berlin. They did not even try to rearrange our car service for us after our delay. This is highly unsatisfactory especially after the best service at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin.

Dear DensL_12, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay at The Westin Hamburg. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. Rest assured that we are dedicated to providing exceptional service to all our guests, especially our loyal elite members. We regret any oversight in communicating this to you during your stay. While we strive to offer upgrades to our elite members, changes in booking situations may prevent confirmation until check-in. In this instance, another guest booked the suite we had reserved for you, leading us to provide you with a beautiful room offering a full view of the Hamburg skyline on our highest floor instead. The rescheduling of your private driver was an unfortunate incident as, by the time we received the new arrival time at the Hamburg train station, all drivers from the company were occupied and unable to accommodate our request. As a result, the 6-minute cab ride appeared to be the most suitable solution to ensure your prompt arrival at the hotel. Our apologies if this recommendation led to the impression of us not being committed to accommodate your request. We sincerely hope that you continue to enjoy your time with us in Hamburg and we are here to assist you with anything else you may need to enhance your stay. Best regards, Your Guest Experience Team from the Westin Hamburg THE WESTIN HAMBURG Platz der Deutschen Einheit 2 20457 Hamburg Germany westinhamburg.com

We didn't stay at the hotel but we visited the bar at the 8th floor. The lady at the reception was absolutely rude with no sense of customer service. I just asked where the bar is and she was completely unhelpful. I don't know if it happens only at non German speakers guests but in such a touristic place and for a hotel like this is completely unacceptable. On the other hand at the café the staff was perfect - the girl with the curly hair was very sweat and the view and the atmosphere of course amazing.

We chose this hotel obviously for the view, and it was magnificent. The suite was incredibly beautiful, spacious and comfortable, equiped with all the necessary amenities. I'm sad to say that the room service left alot to be desired. The options were limited and the food was simply not the best. The staff was one of the kindest i have ever met. Especially Oliver at the Concierge, he was so kind and always greeted us with a smile. He was so organised and helped with the two packages we were expecting. I don't know how they did it but whenever i would talk to someone, they would makes us feel as if they knew us. That was sooo sweet. One of the Highlights was the private spa, it's a bit pricy but totally worth it. All and all, i loved this hotel.

Went for a bite before a concert. The view of the harbor is priceless. While the focus of the menu is on drinks, there are appetizers, salads, main courses etc. Creahtive approaches to fav dishes. Only snag: Nobody had cleaned or even checked the bathrooms for hours which were dirty after a long day, no paper in dome stalls, etc.o

We checked in at about 2 o’clock and were offered a room on the 12th floor which was ready or a wait for a room higher up: we chose the former. It was room 1210, which was a really well designed room overlooking the water. It was large with a bathroom running the entire length of the room on the left. The clever bathroom door allowed access to the bath and sink separately from the loo and shower and the latter had excellent water pressure. The room was decorated in light colours with two floor-to-ceiling windows, and there was a kettle, and a fridge. Breakfast was an excellent hot and cold buffet with fresh eggs.

Although our experience was a little bumpy due to an unexpected situation, the hotel staff truly made up for it! The entire team here is incredible/location is great and those are the reasons I would recommend this hotel to anyone! I wanted to give a should out to Katerina Muller (Manager on Duty), Diana Guenter (receptionist) and also Tariq Saleem (hotel technichan) for all of their support during our stay.

Check in took more than 30 minutes and the lady who checked in was not helpful at all, very rude and don't understand what it means to be in the service industry. Was not informed that parking cost anything but was charged after check in. The housekeeping staff kept knocking on our door even when the DND sign was on the door and they came in to clean the room even as well even the DND sign was on the door, I wonder if this is normal practice in Westin? Rooms were clean, big and comfortable beds but will never stay in Westin Hotel again, not even worthy of a 1 star hotel service, its really a joke.

I stayed in this Westin chain hotel for 3 nights, Thursday to Sunday. I had a premium king bed room with a city and partial harbor view. Note that base or cheapest rooms do *not* have a view but instead look to the inside atrium and walls. The room was supposed to be 38 square meters, but seemed smaller. There was a desk and desk chair, and one truncated chaise for one. There was no table, so for room service, 1 person can sit at the desk. Sound insulation on the walls was good overall, but I could easily hear people talking in hallways. Arrival was awkward, e.g., the cab dropped me at street level, which is level 6 for the hotel entry. But at 9:30 PM, there was no one to greet and help with luggage, just a sign that said reception is on level 8, up a stuffy elevator. Most 5 stars have greeters at the entrance to immediately help with luggage. Whenever coming from town after a cab drop at level 6, I had to use two different elevators. This was generally a mild annoyance, as the elevators are small, stuffy, slow, cramped and often busy at key times (or 1 or more is broken). On my checkout journey, I shared the elevator with 3 cleaning staff, all of whom were immersed in their cell phones, 2 of whom emanated strong body odor. The room view was very nice (on 2 of the 3 evenings, a nearby restaurant also shot off fireworks). The curved floor to ceiling room window had odd gray mottled shading around the edges which was probably designed to be a sun shield. But despite this, the AC, could just barely keep up to cool the room enough to be comfortable even when set on max, when it was 76 Fahrenheit outside with 10% humidity. Fortunately it was not hotter. If I closed the heavy blackout drapes, I had more success keeping the room cool, but then it defeated the point of paying extra for a room with a view. I had booked without breakfast, which would have cost 34 Euro more per day for a buffet. There was a welcome espresso machine in the room, as well as a kettle, equipped with precise minimal allocations of typical supplies. The Service Express button on the phone (the one I was instructed to use for problems and requests for guest services), worked well the first night, but not the second day, then worked again on the third day. However, even when it worked, it was often difficult to get anyone to pick up the phone after even 20 rings.I would call back 20 minutes later but still no one would pick up (presumably due to understaffing), and staff, though polite, sounded very rushed when they finally did pick up. Unfortunately just to get someone to pick up the room service tray, I had to call that one central line, as opposed to efficiently being directed straight to the kitchen. The TV did not work, so I could not monitor my account during the stay, e.g., to make sure minibar charges were ongoing and accurate. I discovered this late afternoon on the 2nd day after coming up from the lobby, which was packed with people checking in for the weekend. It was unclear what the problem with the TV was, but since by then my 'Service Express' button did not work and I was too tired to get up, get redressed and go down to line up to tell staff about it and then wait for a repairman to appear and maybe (or maybe not) resolve the problem before my departure. There was a very comfortable king 'heavenly' bed with 4 nice pillows and soft linens. The bath had a big tub with a glass window to the bed/living area to access daylight (which can also be closed off with a shade), plus a separate big shower. Water pressure was good, hot water was instant. Nothing leaked and everything was clean. At the tub, the glued-to-wall Westin "White Tea" toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) were too high to reach if lounging in the tub, and the sides of the tub had no place to pre-place supplies. The bath towels (2) were surprisingly rough, and small, not at all luxurious, and I got two more, but had to struggle to make sure my towels were not removed. Notes in German and English were either not read or not understood by staff . There were very subtle 'save the planet' note reminders from the hotel that if you want towels exchanged you should put them on the floor, but cleaning staff wastefully still took towels away even when I didn't put them on the floor. There were no drawers anywhere in the room, only closet shelving. There was a safe, abundant outlets (bedside and desk), and a built-in digital clock directly opposite the bed under the TV, nicely placed. There was a minibar semi-fridge in the room, but beware it is set to a fixed, inadequately cool temperature, so it is really just a gentle ' cooler' -- don't put vulnerable food or sensitive meds in it. For various reasons, also be careful to track your usage (let's just say a bag of Oreos I did *not* eat disappeared). Unfortunately the closest market is 1 km away, which makes it hard to haul supplies for food and drink off site without a car. There was no paper room service menu in the room. Instead I had to fuss with an awkwardly placed fixed QR code at the far end of the desk, which often malfunctioned in various ways, as did the "service express" button. Though Covid precautions have been gone for months, QR codes in hotels are all the rage, (allegedly to save the planet, but it is primarily to help keep staff costs down and profits higher -- note the only things available on paper were ads, e.g., for the profitable spa service, for hotel products, and a magazine about the Elbphilharmonie). It was a small battle to get the room service tray picked up (the room phone did not work, or no one would answer the phone, despite repeated calls. Housekeeping was still not finished with needed tasks at 2:30 PM the 2nd day of my stay when I returned to rest after morning excursions (they had restocked items from the minibar, but had not yet cleaned). There was no evening 'turndown' service, much less pillow chocolates. After 10PM, beware that room service options are very limited and expensive. They included a small portion of coq au vin with broccoli (surprisingly tasty) and rubbery little rolls, or chicken breast, plus two vegetarian items. Overall, no one issue was an overwhelming problem, and there were many very nice features at this hotel. But all added up, this Westin came across as a basic understaffed cookie cutter convention hotel, priced high for a relatively captive audience due to its cool location near the Elbphilharmonie, and for some, water and skyline views. Overall there was suboptimal service for a 5 star hotel, due to an irritating lack of attention to proper maintenance of electronic and software setups which they rely on to save on staffing. There was no attention to details, and personalization was not possible in such a labyrinth without more staff. I rate it 3.4 out of 5.

Stunningly designed hotel with great service I was delighted to be upgraded to a studio room on arrival which had the most amazing light and views over the water. Very inspiring and relaxing. It’s a beautiful hotel in an out of the way location but taxis/uber are easy to use and go anywhere. The people here are so helpful and smiley! Sandra in reception was fantastic on arrival, as was the amazingly positive lady in the club lounge (who’s name I forgot but who’s positivity, smiles and energy I did not!), who was fantastic as was anyone I asked for anything as were the team in Blick with lovely champagne cocktails and views. It’s amazing to be able to walk out on the tourist walkaround too as the views are lovely. The only downside here was the food in the club lounge, it was awful. I had two nights then decided not to visit anymore. It was inedible. They really need to fix that. Not the Club Lounge people’s fault it’s the kitchen. Also at one point when I was there they offered THREE non-alcoholic beer and only one alcoholic one!!! Who wants non-alcoholic drinks and if they do they can have a choice of one or two max surely? The wines lacked a German riesling too. But small quibbles as you can always go out but the lounge is lovely to work in although bizarre that you can’t get a coffee there until midday! However the main restaurant Fang and Feld was incredible with very late breakfast to 11am weekdays and midday at the weekend and a massive range of foods, cheese, meats, eggs and lovely sparkling wine too! Better than the lounge’s prosecco! Highly recommended all round, I had a lovely time at the hotel with great service too.

Nice hotel but the towels in the bathroom are surprisingly old and hard. Also not enough of them !! Very good breakfast. Beautiful views from the bedrooms. Not quite as luxurious as the high prices would suggest overall.
