Absolute MISERY! Do not believe them at reception when they say they are up grading you. No this is a ticket to the tower and there the rooms are tight, there is no, and I mean NO AIR circulation in these room unless you open the windows. The vent next to the bed, and the dials to control the temperature do not do anything! Pure decoration! Because you want to breath and relieve yourself from sweating you will open the windows to lovely sounds of the trams screeching at the curve every 15 minutes, cars buzzing contantly, and the ambulance sirens of the hospital near by. We even had the pleaure of hearing an impromtu party in the park below our window in the middle of the night, and the staff cleaning the garbage cans with a pressure cleaner at 1am. A hotel room should be somewhere you can go back and relax after a day of being out in about. If you desire this do not book a room here. It is hot loud MISERY!

This is a nice place in a friendly neighborhood close to the Elbe. The hotel is a maze of corridors and offers rooms in the main building as well in the newer annexes. We were offered a room in the adjacent building, quite small, but all of the amenities that we needed were present. There was no cupboard, but little space with coathangers. The bar area of the restaurant has an authentic feel and is worth a visit. We had a meeting in one of the rooms (Elbe) which was in fact a bit cramped for the number of people. The Hotel offers a great breakfast, but that does not come cheap and at E27,50 it is priced at a high level. You have plenty to choose from, though.

My wife and i stayed here for three nights. The hotel is very old but in a stunning location on a hill overlooking the port of Hamburg and the river Elbe, actually is above St.Pauli Landungsbrucken and 5 minutes walk to the Reeperbahn(red light) also walking distance to the city centre. Check in and out was easy within few minutes, the lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect Greek(our language) i was really surprised. The hotel have a nautical theme with a lot of old times maritime décor in the ground floor. the room was small but nice and clean, only negative was there was no view at all and no air condition. The hotel has an amazing ,cozy old times bar and a modern one at the top floor the Tower bar with amazing view over the harbour. Generally is good old hotel but expensive, 270 euro p.n without breakfast.

Nice location. Slowish front desk, check-in took time with useless datafilling. Broken elevator. Bad coffee in the breakfast. Paying in advance is pain in the ass in general and in particular because of company reimbursent. Some rooms noisy due to railway.

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time and giving us this feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you had some issues during your stay. The datafilling is based on a german law called "Bundesmeldegesetz" which is causing obligation in germany. You are always free to choose our flex-rate, which is without any payments in advance and including the best cancellation option till 12 noon on the day of arrival. We are very thankful for your suggestions. They will help us improving our servicequality. With kind regards Your Reception-Team from the Hotel Hafen Hamburg

My experience in this hotel was horrible: a very unpolite and rude receptionist refused my vaccination with boosting even though corresponding not only to the EU rules but also to the rules of the City of Hamburg published on the webpages - see the picture. I recovered from covid in December 2020 and afterwards I received 1 vaccination instead of 2 and the booster on the 16/1/2022 so my EU vaccination certificate correctly indicates 2/1. It is allowed to enter everywhere without any additional antigenic or PCR test in Hamburg (GENESENE MIT 2 IMPFUNGEN). The lady at the reception told me that I should have been recovered from Covid less than 3 months ago with 2 vaccinations and not recovered more than 3 months ago and vaccinated afterwards. She also accused me that I was showing a false test because I had a test made on the same week but more than 48 hours before my arrival. She cancelled my booking and invited me to leave immediately the hotel. I will send a letter to the Hotel Manager and also to some hotel association and to the Mayor of the City because it is unacceptable to be treated like this only because the receptionist was not aware about the current rules and her app for covid check not fully updated to it. I was in a hurry due to another business meeting and reached another hotel found where I was accepted without any ssue. If I had had more time I would have called the police in order to face the receptionist who also refused to call the Hotel Manager. Anyway my meeting was held in the hotel restaurant Port where I was allowed to enter without any issue with my Covid certification!

My Wife and I stayed here for four days, originally booked it 2 years ago but was cancelled by the Hotel due to the Covid situation. Their policy is not to issue refunds but vouchers even though this was certainly not our fault. I will start with getting into the Hotel. the Station is right beside the Hotel so you would think this would be handy. Wrong. There are a million steps up to the Hotel and we nearly had a Heart attack trying to climb them with our bags. OK if you are twenty but at almost 60 I would not recommend it. When we arrived to the top we came on a door that turned out to be a closed Restaurant ( no sign on it ). We went around the back and saw a similar door with people out smoking and passed it by. No sign for the Hotel entrance/reception. Having walked around this three times looking for a way in ( in the pouring rain ) we finally discovered that this was the entrance, you had to stand back about twenty yards to see the sign though. Check in was very overcrowded and the girl we dealt with used a tablet to get us to enter our details. It was spotty to say the least, would not accept the phone number and after some 25 minutes proceeded to crash completely. She then reverted to good old fashioned paper to check in. The room, supposedly a "Captains room", was very small and cluttered and the bed consisted of two three foot mattresses shoved together. That was bad enough but it had two small three foot duvet type covers instead of proper bedclothes which consistently fell off both of us all night long. Quite frankly it was awful. Did not bother with the breakfast, a bit of a push at €23 per person. Far better options downtown or even the station. There was no Hotel Bar open ( the nautical themed one they have is closed so we could not get a drink on arrival. There is a Tower Bar which opens around 6pm till 2. We tried that on the Saturday night around 11 and queued all the was down the Hall and stairs and after forty minutes of that had enough and returned to our cramped room. Saturday night downtown Hamburg near the Reeperbahn, not a good way to end it. The Hotel is listed a a four star but hard to see how that can be with the lack of facilities, couldn't even manage to get a drink in it. The Staff very all very nice and genuinely helpful but it was a disappointing experience. finally, if you are anyway old or infirm, don't! When retuning we went out the back way and around a long winging sloping road back to the station. Could not face those stairs again with bags now much heavier with shopping etc. Ben

The is an old hotel in a stunning location on a hillock overlooking the busiest stretch of Elbe. The main quays are right across the street, as is the Landungsbrucken train station. The restaurant, Port, has a tremendous view and an excellent patio from which to enjoy it. The hotel's nautical theme and turn-of-the-century interior decor added a lot of character. While entirely modernized, some old elements remain such as the glorious central staircase and creaking wood floors in reception. My room was small but well-appointed; the bathroom large. There is no air conditioning, however both my windows opened widely and afforded a view of the river. The catch is that the waterfront quays can be busy late into the night so the noise level can be high when the window is open. There is also noise from trains, ship whistles, and buses -- the price of such a prime location. Overall, this place offers excellent value, especially for the tourist who likes to explore on foot. Reminder: From the airport, you can take the S1 train directly to the station across the street (Landungsbrucken); no transfers; comfortable, fast, and cheap.
