The location was great, but the reception team was totally unacceptable. Not to mention that concierge service didn't exist. Unfriendly, untrained, and unwilling to service guests. On the contrary, the restaurant's personnel was the opposite.
Well located across from the harbor. Hamburg is big so we still used the public transport to get around. Rooms were clean and spacious. Mini fridge was empty for guest use. Shower roomy and good. Gym quite decent and clean. Pool was not so big, steamy hot room. Breakfast buffet had some warm foods too and view over the water is great. We had city view rooms to save money but as you can see from the photo - they could’ve called it look into the the other hotel guest windows view. Hah.
This hotel is in a spectacular location right on the Alster lake and walking distance to the many restaurants and bars in cosmopolitan St Georg neighborhood as well as the major museum, shopping district and main station. Our room was a duplex with breathtaking views of the city and we also liked the restaurant and roof top bar. Staff was lovely and we very much enjoyed the Hotel's bicycles to ride around the lake and explore the city. There is also a very nice pool.
we booked a room on the quiet side of the hotel for three days. the first 2 days were in the weekend where the staff is not able to accomodate the high number of people coming for breakfast. other hotels deal with this issue in a much better way. one day our room was not cleaned. the rooms and bathroom are okay but as you may expect.
Let me start of with: wow what a view. You can’t get it better anywhere else! The location of the hotel is great as well - 10 minutes to the central station and also to the shopping malls. The best part however was the staff working there! Friendly, pleasant never heard that something wasn’t possible! Thank you
I stayed here from 11/06-12/06 I was a ritz/Carlton member that is now a Marriott member because Marriott bought Ritz/Carlton and it’s a pity they did not buy their standards. I was shocked at being asked to pay for breakfast after complaining about the disrespectful behaviour of the person delivering the food. I even had to ask for the tip I had given to be removed before the vulgar behaviour of the staff member. First the staff member refused to return with two breakfast meals even though that’s what I ordered. He cheekily asked me to make do with one meal while he went to get the other one as if my girlfriend could wait and did not matter. Then without being addresses by her he fist bumped her while she was in bed in her dressing gown in a flirtatious manner designed to emasculate me. I mean rhetorically, why didn’t he just ask for her phone number? It is not even imaginable that this could happen from a basically trained hotel staff member. Disgusting behaviour falling far short of any reasonable level of service in Macdonalds let alone a one star hotel. To add insult to injury I was still charged for the breakfast. Additionally nobody helped with our bags even though we asked. I feel singled out for poor treatment as this treatment seems to me bizarre and unimaginable. I would never return to a Marriott owned hotel again.…
I don’t even know where to start it’s so bad. I’ll pull together points from other reviewers so you see how miserable this place is. The hotel lobby and public spaces are grey and utilitarian, much like say an ikea lobby as others have pointed out. There is nothing, nothing charming or warm about the hotel interiors. The staff at check-in are quite possibly the roughest, most curt and unfriendly I’ve yet to find at a Marriott property - as many others point to below. There was no recognition of my Marriott platinum status, and as others have noted the hotel does its best not to recognise or give the benefits of the Bonvoy program. I realised after 20 mins in my dumpy room that they’d “forgotten” to offer me my welcome gift of points or breakfast - had to go back down to reception to beg for this to be given it. Forget about an upgrade - there won’t be any rooms available and I was told that although yes they did have higher category rooms available at the time of my check in they would need to hold these back. 🤓. Im kind of at the point where I question why I’m so loyal to Marriott when they’re never loyal to me back. I just don’t get why they don’t want to look after good loyal customers? Anyway the rooms are non-descript and a bit sad. Ikea on the cheap. Read below. One of the reviewers says that the photos on the site look nothing like the reality. All true. No coffee machines which is a bit weird. As others have mentioned the elevators are a mess and you’ll have to wait for quite some time to get in one. Bottom line : just don’t. If you’re coming for a vacation there are places much more romantic and sweet in Hamburg. If you’re coming because you’re a Marriott loyalty member - don’t stay here thinking they’ll take care of you. They won’t. Please Mr Manager don’t write the typical - we’d love to hear from you to discuss your experience message. You did hear from me and did nothing… Two beer vouchers won’t make up for this……
Room is very basic with horrible elevator service and take forever to come however the price for 300€ a night for such room not worth it, you don’t even have a view or privacy because the building next to our room has neighbors and they can see us easy Sadly I don’t recommend to stay here
Great location, close to central station, by the lake. Previously stayed at the Westin, which as a hotel was better, with fantastic spa, but the better and more central location of Le Meridien puts this ahead of it. Rooms were very large. The shower in the bathroom was a bit weird as there was also no door to prevent the splashes from making the bathroom wet. The spa had a steam sauna and a finnish sauna. The steam sauna was however quite cold and we had to stand up to feel ”hot”. The pool was quite chilly, not luxurious in any means but still a solid pool. The spa was empty besides us during late afternoon. The breakfast was great, large variety of foods available. The views from there were also great. The reception was too small and got extremely crowded when we were checking out, making it uncomfortable waiting there for service with 15 people waiting ahaed of us. It took us 30+ minutes to check out. All in all, the price matched the level of soft and hard product.…
I attended a conference and stayed at the meridien hotel. They upgraded me to a room with lake view. Room is spacious. Could be more modern but was ok. View is stunning. Breakfast and service were second to none. Meeting Space is also very modern and perfect. Thanks
