Booked as it was on the Hamburg tourist website, maybe they thought we were sex tourists due to the location near sex shops and cinemas. On arrival at the hotel after walking though probably one of the worst streets in Hamburg we were greeted by a tall flight of stairs which suitcases had to be carried up before getting to... More

Our group was booked into the Hotel Lumen for the weekend and I had read the reviews of this hotel before we arrived so was aware that it sounded pretty bad. When the taxi dropped us outside the street looked pretty "interesting" and not what you would call Oxford St. There are lots of coffee shops and kebab houses. There... More

Good rooms and well furnished. Good Breakfast. Very close to the Station. Linens and Towels are fresh and good. Rooms are quiet but being close to main area could be bit noisy. Lots of restaurants around. No Lift and if you are checking in late pl inform the desk accordingly.

We spend five nights at hotel lumen, we wanted a central placed hotel for a good price. We Got a quit small room but it was Nice and clean and the bathroom was the nicest i have had on a hotel. We had breakfast included in the price, which was fine, nothing fancy. The hotel is placed just behind the... More

The brochure images pertaining to this (hotel) gave no indication as to it`s location. At night if you were not accosted by the many ladies / rent boys of the night, you were wading knee deep through the remains of the fruit stalls left over / thrown away rotten produce. The rear of the hotel appeared to be used as... More

Staff is unfriendly, they do not speak English. There is a rude old man with mustache at the reception (I am not joking!). You have to drag your suitcases on those long terrible stairs (see photo) to get to elevator. Outside are turkish markets on the street, garbage on the pavement and sex shops around! Room, bed and bathroom are... More

We chose this hotel primarily due to its proximity to the station, as we were arriving late in the evening and leaving early in the morning. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station and easy to find. The room was on the small side, but was plenty enough for us for one night, it was clean and... More

Poor neighbourhood with drug dealers and prostitutes, old and dirty hotel. The road looks like a suk, it seems not to be in Germany. The breakfast is poor and not even fresh food. Internet connection is poor, I had to ask for codes three times.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Hamburg Central Station. In that sense it was perfect, we walked almost to everywhere and took U-Bahns or S-Bahn whenever we wanted. But the street Steindamm on which the hotel is located and Hansa Platz which is just behind the hotel are not the places one might to spend to... More

“Avoid if you are disabled or don't want to climb stairs. If you want quality don't stay in this area or at the very least go for something starting at 4 stars. Otherwise if you need to be next to the central station daily, are young and on a tight budget go for the hostel next to the station.”
