The hotel is sandwiched between a very major road and a building site at the back which is noisy. It is not far from the central railway station. Not a great walk - be careful particularly after dark. On a positive note the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. I find it difficult to understand why the staff could not get the the early morning wake up call working !!
This is a modern Ibis and it met my expectations on every level. It is less than 10 minutes from the central railway station and there is a U-bahn station within 5 minutes walk. Be careful at the entrance to the U-bahn, some unsavoury types hang around. The main shopping area is 10 minutes away. The hotel was busy, check in smooth, the room clean and warm. Couldn't really have asked for more.
The first thing I told the friend I was sharing the room with, once we got to it, was that I was very curious about how the soundproofing would have performed during the night, as I saw our window gave onto a major, very busy road. Well, it turned out to perform more than well, as we simply forgot about the cars outside when we turned off the lights to sleep. The beds are comfortable, the pillows perhaps a tad too soft. The breakfast buffet is diverse and ideal to keep you going for the best part of the day, although the selection could be a bit more diverse. Anyway, the make-your-own-waffle station makes up for that. The only drawback - and the reason for this review not getting all five circles - is the drainage of the washbasin in the bathroom: this is not the first hotel where I happen to come across a washbasin where the water level immediately starts rising is the ceramic bowl the moment you open the tap, and then takes ages to drain. This is something the housekeeping staff could - and should - easily spot. Other than this, flying colours.…
Website does not mention the building site next door, where work starts at 7am. Rang Reception on 1st night to request more pillows - these did not arrive. Second night asked for more pillows again face to face and despite going out for several hours these did not materialise despite being promised. After returning from long day sightseeing and wanting a beer, there was a sign up to say the Bar was closed and staff member couldn't recommend anywhere else and kept using excuse she was new. Room was clean and modern and good shower, and hotel c.10 minutes walk to Hauptbahnhof. HAVING STAYED IN IBIS IN MANY COUNTRIES AND FOUND THEM TO BE VERY GOOD AND VALUE FOR MONEY, THIS IS THE WORST. THE STAFF OBVIOUSLY CANNOT BE BOTHERED. DEFINITELY ONE TO AVOID.
I only stayed for one night but found the hotel to be very good. The room was large, comfortable and very quiet. The only downside was that the pillows were a little uncomfortable for me. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of food to choose from. The location is handy for the railway station which was about 5 minutes walk away.
Avoid this hotel at all costs, from the second you walk in they treat you awfully, me and my girlfriend were denied entry all because I didn’t have a booster vaccine luckily another hotel took us in after getting a test, if your staying in Hamburg find alternative accommodation !
Fairly new building with underground pay parking. Rooms new style with the usual comfortable beds and tiled bathroom. Great breakfast buffet. Short walk to the Hamburg shopping district and Christmas markets.
The parking lot in the hotel is always full. Room was dirty and the toilet had mold on every tile. Furthermore the AC in the room was not working making the mold smell from the toilet horrible. Only ok thing during the stay was the breakfast. Very confused how this hotel is 3 stars.
So, as a member of Accor loyalty programme, I know what I’m paying for! This Ibis has really nice and almost, as it seems, new rooms and with good standards! Me, as I’m travelling for work, I can warmly recommend this even when/if you bring you “other half” just book a suit/double room! So, enjoy! But, a little to bad is that they don’t include coffee on the room as other Ibis do!? 👍😍😉
All the comfort you can expect from Ibis. All staff members I met were friendly and professionel. Everything was clean. Comfortable bed. The local area a bit dull. 5-10 minuts walk from central train station.
