We stayed at the Hoteltraube in July 2020 and of course things and procedures were not quite normal, due to corona regulations. The hotel is located in front of the river Rhine, a few steps away from the Drosselgasse end the historic town center. Yes, there is a railway in front of the hotel, but we didn't hear trains passing during the night. We had a room on the first floor, overlooking the river. Our room was nice and clean and included a private bathroom and TV. Maybe the room was a bit outdated, so what, it was clean and comfortable for the weekend. And breakfast was served at the table, because a self-service buffet was not allowed at the time of our stay. But the hotel did everything to make guests having a great breakfast. The hotel also offers a private car park at the back, but public parkings are also nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful. The value for money was good.…
Hotel in great location close to the Rhine and seconds away from Xmas market . We had large room at front of hotel top floor three storeys . The 180 deg view from the room was great with the river very close . Yes in front of hotel is pavement then road then the railway . It’s a busy railway and can be noisy but we got used to it . There are lots of other rooms behind which would suit light sleepers The buffet breakfast was excellent staff pleasant and all in all a great hotel . There was parking at the rear for 10 euros a night very useful
Great location to Drosselgasse, and the Old Town. Friendly staff, and the breakfast didnt miss a thing. We had booked parking, but the place was full and we had to park some distance away. But, If you want to sleep at night this hotel is not the right place. The trains passes outside the windows meny times a hour.
If you have a love of trains, stay here! We stayed in this hotel June 16th - 20th. It was very hot, so be aware the hotel does not have air conditioning. You can however, open your window(which has no screen), and hope you can catch a breeze from the Rhine river. We wondered why our bed had 2 sets of earplugs on the pillows. At 2am we found out. The train is no more than 50 feet in front of the hotel, with the windows open, the train was so loud we jumped out of our sleep. We were never told, until the morning, the trains run 24 hours a day. We also didn't realize that the hotel didn't have any electric converters that we could use. We asked where we could buy some, and were told that no stores were open on Sunday. The person who checked us in, was not the friendliest. We were very disappointed. Also be aware that you have to pay $10 Euro a day to park your car. The walk to the lot takes 10 minutes. The only positive I found at this hotel was the buffet breakfast, which is included with your stay.…
The hotel has a great location by the river. We had a room facing the back, but if you get one with view over the river I am sure that is quite nice. Our room was pretty small, but it was spotless clean and the bed was comfortable. Walls however paper thin. Breakfast was probably the best with the hotel. Nice selection of hot and cold things and plenty of space to sit down, at least at the time when we were eating. The area with the greatest potential for improvement was the general service of the staff in the reception. That was unfortunately below par even for a tourist hotel in Germany.
