HWzGK is not the most easiest hotel to find. You have to drive through narrow streets and if you are driving with loud motorcycle (like we) you are little embarassed when driving by restaurant terraces. Hotel has many parking places right infront of the building. We were received by serving us nice glass of cinnamon white wine - it was great and very nice gesture. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel. You wanna try cable car to reach the mountain peak and the statue - the trip is very nice and it goes over wine plantation in 10m height. And it is only 9€ there and back. All the restaurants are also within walking distance. Grosery store is 500m away. Staff was very friendly and professional. The room was very small, allmost like closet, but it was more than enough for us. We did not try to breakfast, but what I saw I can say it was good. Thank you for pleasant stay!…
We stayed here as part of a 2 coach booking. Luggage was taken from coach park by hotel. We were given a welcome glass of white wine whilst our cases were unloaded. Check in rather slow due to amount of people as all were shown to our rooms. Our room was on the 2nd floor, large room with fairly large en-suite shower room. Stairs were fairly narrow and not well lit with a rope handrail. We had a problem with our toilet but this was soon rectified after a visit to reception (no phone in room) Room was fairly basic but bed was comfortable. Evening meal which was 4 courses, was excellent and served by very friendly staff. Breakfast was buffet style and fairly basic with coffee served to table. All hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming.
We stopped here in order to let our travelling companions take a river cruise to Koblenz thru the Rhine gorge. We did not expect to find such a wonderful town and hotel. We had a superior double here and had a larger room than what we had come to expect in Germany. Shower was roomier. We were given a complimentary fruit beverage upon arrival, plus got to taste 3 different Riesling wines. Breakfast was good. Town is only about 10,000 people but it is very quaint. Lots and lots of restaurants up and down the narrow streets. Took a gondola up to the hills above the town. Lots of grapes being grown in the fields and excellent view of Rhine and the town. If any complaint, the bed was a tight fit, plus there was some noise from upstairs people. Otherwise, a highlight of our trip
From the outside, the hotel looks very pretty and quaint. However, once inside the room was a different story! I realize that European hotels can be "basic", but this one cannot even be called that. We stayed there last week. It was supposed to be for 2 nights, but we decided to check out at 5pm on the second day as we could not handle spending another night in a dirty, run down room. The room was not at all like the pictures on the website. On both nightstands, none of the light bulbs were screwed in. The floor, which was ceramic tile, had dirt on it. After walking around the room (and bathroom), when I looked at the bottom of my feet, there was dirt all over them! I ended up sleeping with socks on. There were also cobwebs around the heating unit and the TV. I could not get the TV to work (I had a picture, but no sound), I reached up to turn off the receiver (as I couldn't turn it off via remote). The receiver looked as though it had never been dusted. The shower was another story. The caulk needed to be replaced as it was black from mold and mildew. In the room, there were only 2 towels and and 2 hand towels. No washcloths at all. The room also had a very musty/damp smell to it. We felt as though we were sleeping in a basement. The curtains/draperies were just yet another disaster. The one curtain, when trying to close it, didn't even cover the window. The other curtain was falling off the curtain rod. I mentioned this to the front desk - asking them to fix it. But they did nothing. They advertise that they have free WiFi in the rooms. However, I could never get mine to connect. I went back to the reception desk and told them it wasn't working, but he just shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't care. In the morning, when we walked over for breakfast, not one person that worked there acknowledged us. They never even asked for our name or room number. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my 25 years of travelling. I now know why this hotel was the only one with availability for our dates. Please save your money and stay elsewhere!…
Location is amazing but .... when we arrived we were impressed by the check in with great staff and a free glass of wine however once we got to our room it sadly went downhill. A very small room with a tiny bathroom/toilet this I can deal with as we only really use a hotel as base to sleep. Sadly as many hotels in Germany our bed was two single mattress pushed together. This particular bed the gap in between was so large me and my girlfriend felt like we were in separate beds which were extremely uncomfortable .The choice of linen was terrible brown bottom sheet which just looked dirty (I am sure it wasn’t) and the room decorated terribly and very outdated. The breakfast was very good and the staff were excellent. Just a little more details inside the room and this place would easily score top marks! …
