We chose to stay here for a short pit stop while heading back to the UK via Koblenz! We had 6 hour drive from Munich. On arrival to the hotel late Monday night 24.02.20 we was checked in very quickly the lady was friendly and our room was superb loved the Victorian style bath tub! Beds comfy view amazing looking over the Rhine and! We was tired so decided to dine at the hotel my food was tasty and very good for the price I had breast of hen German noodles and mushroom sauce the portion was very generous and we very much enjoyed the food here! Now the negative sadly is the trains that run ALL NIGHT LONG! the walls in room 103 was vibrating and this was all through the night now I am expecting the usual copy and pasted reply that I have seen by management saying they do not hide the house near train line but this is not really how customers should be spoken to! When I addressed my concerns and asked what the noise was the blonde lady on reception who needs customer service training her attitude was "yes trains but some people find ok some not" and she shrugged at me! Is this customer service?? Appalled at her attitude! Would I return yes if the train track was not there! This let's the hotel down very much!

Dear Louise, we appreciate your feedback. Belive me we would be more then happy and greatful if the trains would be moved out of the rhine valley. My great grandparents have initiated the coffeehouse and hotel at this place in 1919. By then the trainline was already existing, yet trains were a sign of modernization and progress. These days it is the total opposite, we have already invested large sums in active noise protection installing double glassed sealed windows, aswell as AC to prevent from opening windows. Also we are active in a Initiative fighting the heavy trantraffic in the middlerhine valley, not only for us but for all people along the river. In regards to your feedback about the colleague during check out, we will adress this to her. We appreaciate your stay with us and wish you a great 2020 ahead. Regards from the river rhine, Nils Mehlhorn & Diehls Team

The hotel was just ok, nothing special. We arrived and waited at the check in desk for 10 minutes while the office manager watched us from the side office while talking on the phone, leaning back on chair and relaxed. When he checked us in he was pleasant, and then told us about the breakfast (all of this in English our native tongue). We explained we had not purchased the breakfast in our booking and he told us it was complimentary and gave us tickets for breakfast. We assumed he offered it to us as he made us wait while on what looked like a personal call. We were a party of 6 people, 3 rooms. 2 of the 6 had breakfast the next morning. Imagine our surprise when we got our bills and there was an additional 32 Euros per room for breakfast! I told the girl at check out we were told the breakfast was complimentary. She went on to tell us, NO the ticket is blue means you pay. I explained COMPLIMENTARY means free, NO again from her. So I told her fine, only 2 of the 6 had breakfast AND SHE SAID NO YOU ALL HAVE TO PAY YOU HAVE A BLUE TICKET! I asked for the manager and was told no one there at 9:30 AM in the morning. Got an email later saying basically the same thing as the girl at the desk BUT as sign of good will they would reimburse 3 euros per person. Now again ONLY 2 PEOPLE HAD THE BREAKFAST. No reimbursement for the other 4. BEWARE OF THIS.

As we have been in touch via mail, I would like to highlight some points again. All our guest will get a guestcard with the basic information about the hotel, Roomnumber as well ass srcharges that may occure. The check in process is a standardised process for us including the informations given during check in. Again the guest card that were handed out during check in also stated that brekfast is excluded and an additional 16€ will be charged. Therefore the breakfast supervisor charged the amount of 32€ per room coming for breakfast, which is checked individually at the restaurant in the morning. We do charge different prices for guest bvoooking directly via us or any online travel agency, this is due to the komission that will be charged by the online travel agencies. As a sign of good will we offered the discounted inhouse price. Safe journey & regards from the river rhine, Nils Mehlhorn & Diehls Team

I had a pleasant stay here. The hotel is clean and modernized. The staff were friendly and polite. I stayed on the third floor and my room had a fantastic view. It’s also great for nice walks along the riverfront. Or around the small village it the back. Despite what others said here, even though the train runs directly behind the hotel, I didn’t hear the train pass from my bedroom. I would stay at the hotel again. My only complaint was our dinner was not as nice as our stay. The prices were above average but the quality was just average. Also we had to wait for over an hour for just the appetizers and over 40 minutes for the main dish. With all the water we drank waiting for our food we lost our appetite by the time it arrived. Of course the waiters apologized but still it was not a pleasant experience and we paid over 70€ per person for a dinner that should have been better. Maybe it was just the wrong night, but I won’t eat there again.

Stayed here on a one night stop over. Plenty of parking. Room nice and spacious. Wasn’t trouble by the trains. Great views of the river and town. We dinned at the restaurant which was tasty. Staff were a little frosty. We got the foot ferry across the river 2 euros and cable car back across to fort and then back to the hotel

We stayed here for two nights with a main purpose to bike along the Mosel. The hotel was clean and with an old school German atmosphere - in a good way. Friendly staff, great free parking and huge room with a nice view to the river. A bit far from central Koblenz but doable with the small ferry that runs until 18.30 in the summer. WiFi somewhat unreliable, breakfast expensive (16€) but ok.
