This completely renovated hotel reopens in April 2015 in a new modern-baroque design. The centre of Dresden, featuring sights such as the Frauenkirche Church, is a 10-minute walk away. The rooms of Gewandhaus Hotel Dresden have a modern-baroque design and there is adjustable air conditioning in all rooms. The bathrooms are decorated in Italian marble and many have a spa bath. Wellness facilities at the hotel include a heated pool, 2 saunas and a modern fitness room. In our [m]eatery restaurant+bar we offer the finest willow beef. The meat refines 6 weeks in our Dry-Aging Box, therefore it gets its powerful taste. In our Kuchen Atelier you can enjoy our homemade cakes and also we offer coffee/tee specialties. Per online kiosk you can download newspaper and magazines free of charge. Guests can walk to the centre of take the tram. The Pirnaischer Platz tram stop is a 2-minute walk from the Gewandhaus Hotel Dresden. Tram number 4 runs to the Semperoper Opera House in just 5 minutes.

LOW CLASS HOTEL

This is a LOW CLASS hotel. If you run out of lotion and you ask them for more, they would charge you 50 cents for it. I have traveled internationally for work and for leisure, and I have never had a hotel that would ask me to pay 50 cents for lotion. Ridiculous. Dresden is beautiful but staying at this hotel definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Puke. Suggestion to the hotel: Try to factor that 50 cents into your 300 Euro per night price tag. Learn how to provide customer service.

Fabulous hotel

Wow. Stunning rooms, wonderful but pricey restaurant . Lovely front desk service. Amazing fitness and pool area. Each room is equipped with either a jacuzzi or a large Italian shower which could fit 4 persons !!!

Excellent, but 5 star ?

Located on the edge of the Aldstadt and a short taxi/tram ride from the railway station the Gewandhaus is well situated for Dresden sightseeing. We had a superior room which was paricularly spacious with a marble bathroom with spa bath. the ownside is that the shower is over the enormous bath so a bit tricky geting in and out if you're no longer young. Breakfast was excellent, reception were friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend this hotel.

Wonderful time in Dresden

We stayed from July 31st to August 6 th for a family trip at the Gewandhaus during our time in Dresden. We had two different rooms, one for our teen daughters, one for us. What a gorgeous place with exceptional service. Loved how they renovated and modernized this beautiful old building and turned it in a hotel with keeping the character of a old historic place. Great location within short walking to all the interesting places. Rooms were very spacious and lovely decorated with comfortable sitting area. Nice size bathrooms, the bathtub was a bathtub/ shower combination, worked well for us but may be a bit difficult to access for older people. We took advantage of the lovely breakfast they served each morning, great selection of cold cuts, breads and pastries, eggs and meats , waffles, Joghurt and granola. You also could order Omelettes and other egg dishes to order. Great selection of coffee,we loved the expresso and late Macchiato. They had a nice indoor pool area, but we didn’t use it. A small gym and a sauna/ steam room as well. The helpfulness, friendliness and curtesy of the staff really stood out ! We have traveled a lot worldwide, stayed at amazing places, but the Gwandhaus really was in a league of there own. Richard at the Front Desk helped with maps, suggestions what to see, information how to get around, information for our daytrip to Weimar, suggestions of visiting places and restaurants who where more know to locals and organized a photographer for us to have some wonderful family pictures done. We definitely hope to be back again in Dresden and there will be only one place we will stay „The Gwandhaus“…

This place is run by amateurs and its only advantage is the location. The WiFi is unreliable, CNN goes in and out (though a hotel employee "explained" that that was the fault of CNN). The service is excruciatingly slow. The tub/showers are treacherous. The shower head is in the tub, which is a jacuzzi about 2 feet wide. Negotiating entry and exit takes planning and acrobatics; and while you're in it, the metal jets on the bottom hurt your feet (I can only imagine what it's like to sit in the tub!). Finally, playing in all the public spaces--halls, lobby, restaurant--is the most distressing music. There must be better in Dresden.

I do not think an upgrade is ever guaranteed for anyone, elite or not. But this Marriott was very accommodating and we did get an upgrade. This is one of the best Marriotts I have ever stayed in. Hotel is u real. Right at the city Centre.

Free Continental Breakfast - what is included/excluded (breakfast items), at this property? (Gold status member with Marriott) I have read in some reviews that hotel charges apporx EUR 10,00 extra for a full breakfast.

Continental breakfast is free of charge for Marriott Rewards gold and platinum members. You have the choice between sweet and savory. It also includes one coffee speciality. Gold Elite status with Marriott: I have a gold Elite status with Marriott. I am wondering if : 1. Lounge access 2.
