It was good enough, you get what you pay for. It was very nice that breakfast was included (cereal, sliced meats, mozzarella/tomato, bread with jams, fruits, coffee, tea). Breakfast ends at 10 am. ***No air conditioning (which is fine if you’re able to sleep without it). Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thanks to other reviewers we made sure to request a room far from the train station/tracks, as there will be cargo trains throughout the night. Walls are also quite thin, so if you have a loud neighbour you’re out of luck. We loved that there was a copy of the New Testament in the room :)

We visited this hotel as a tour group. The front reception ladies do not speak much English but we had a German guide so that was no issue. The rooms are small and basic but clean, good enough for a one night's stay. The breakfast was excellent with many choices of healthy food. It is within walking distance to the Wittenberg tourist sites.

When I made the reservations, they had an English website and answered my questions in English. When I got there, they had no one that poke English at all. One guest practiced his on me and it was adequate, but he left before I got in my room. As the hotel was listed as a TMobile hotspot and they had the sticker in the door, I set up my computer once I was in my room. There was a signal, but no connection. The front desk could not care about the lack of internet and I was directed to the internet cafe, a rather smokey dive 4 blocks down the road. I was in the hotel for 3 days and this was never taken care of even after I called TMobile..

The Acron is a purpose-built, modern hotel right on the edge of Wittenberg's lovely city centre. Rooms are smallish but clean and efficient, as everywhere is Germany. There is free parking, buffet breakfast (optional), and free wifi in the lobby. Overall, this is an excellent choice for visiting Wittenberg as a tourist, with competitive rates and all the service and facilities one needs. Recommended!

We stayed here for five nights in July 2018. Maybe I'm just a typical American, but the lack of air conditioning caused problems. While it wasn't terribly warm during our stay, it was nearly impossible to get any cool air from outside into our room. The windows open from the top, but be aware, they also swing toward the inside (play with it a little, and you'll figure it out). But the main problem is that the hotel sits right by a rather busy street, so you hear traffic noise all night long. It is about 50 yards from a railroad track. Trains go through all night long. Just when you are about to fall asleep, it sounds like a train is about to go through your room. The hotel is decent, but having 5 breakfasts there became a bit monotonous. The breakfast is (apparently) a traditional German breakfast with meats, sausages, cheese, veggies and LOTS of bread. The first couple mornings, this was fine. But every morning, it was the same fare presented in the same way. There were no variations at all.
I guess my recommendation is to be prepared for what you will find at the Acron-Wittenberg. The staff is not necessarily friendly or terribly helpful. The free WiFi is virtually nonexistent. Bring your noise-cancelling headphones and sleep mask. Plan to sleep in as little clothing as possible. If you're planning to stay there very long, plan a couple breakfasts away so you can get some variety.

I ended up at this hotel when the hotel I reserved wasn’t available. It was very nice and I was very pleased. The hotel was not fancy, but very functional with a friendly staff. I had a single room which was on the small side, but it worked well for me. There were two small beds in the room. The property is conveniently located ¼ mile from the train station and ½ mile from the Luther Hotel, where I was attending a convention. This hotel had its own parking lot, which was very important as I was driving an auto during my stay. The included breakfast had a nice assortment of meats, cheeses, breads and cereals and a nice airy dining room. The room rates were very reasonable – comparable to a budget hotel in the U.S. but with much better amenities.

As with all hotels in Wittenberg, and many in Germany and Europe, there is no air conditioning. One must leave the windows open. While it was warm (28 degrees C / 82 degrees F) during my stay, it was dry and everything cooled off in the evening. My room faced the front of the hotel, which is right across from the train tracks. I am a train buff, so watching the various trains go by was fun. However, if the noise from this bothers you, be sure to request a room facing the back of the building.

I had a very nice 4 night stay at the Acron Hotel.

I stayed at this Hotel for 9 weeks on business. The staff were helpful. The rooms have free Wifi.
It's a good well priced Hotel, Wittenberg town centre is a five minute walk.
Don't expect The Ritz, but you won't be paying The Ritz prices either.

We decided to stay in a German hotel while visiting Wittenberg. The beds were twin-size with firm mattresses and the typical German "quilts". The bathroom was small, but had amenities we needed. The best part of the German experience was morning breakfast! A beautiful dining room with many German morning foods to choose from. We often stay with families while visiting Germany, we felt this hotel truly reflected a German-style vacation spot. The front desk staff spoke good English and were very helpful when we asked about Wittenberg's attractions. It is also easily within walking distance of the train station, about a mile. We visited in March, so the hotel was quite quiet and our meals were leisurely. Grew up by train tracks, so I guess I did not register the trains going by!

Stayed here for a week for an international congress of Luther research. This was my fourt of fith visit to Wittenberg.

Wittenberg has to my knowing no real top hotels, but rather a selection between expensive quaint (i.e. worn) old-world hotels in the Old Town, and cheaper you-pay-for-what-you-get hotels outside the Old Town. Acron Hotel belongs to the latter category. It is situated just outsite the old city walls, about 500 meters from the main train station and 20 minute walk to the Castle Church. Luther house is close by with less than 3 minute walk.

The hotel is cheap no-frills one with impersonal rooms and views to street or backyard. Every room has a toilet. The wifi works well when it works (for two nights out of six it did not function). Breakfast selection is sufficient (actually good for a German hotel), but no hot food is served. You have a selection of juices, breads, tee, coffee, cheese and cold cuts, cerals, muesli, eggs, youghurt.

The buffet is catered early the morning but has no refrigeration, so if you go to eat at 10 o'clock the cheese and meats are warm. I observerved bees and flies buzzing around and having their take of the meats. Would not pass hygienic inspection in Finland. Note for the bug-averse: I also encountered two beetles in my bathroom. The hotel should pay more attention to hygiene. Did not get any stomache problems, though.

In sum, the selection of a Wittenberg hotel comes down to two things: Do you want to stay in the old town, walk less and pay more? Or stay outside the old town at Acron or similar, pay half and walk more?

Another thing to consider is that I stayed at Acron during a heat wave. Even though there is no air condition, at Acron you could keep the windows open day and night and it was much cooler than around the town centre. In the town centre you have people and cars going around all the time. At Acron there is a noisy train passing the hotel once an hour, also during the night. I was aware of this beforehand so I had earplugs. I paid around 300 euros for the whole week, slept well, and enjoyed the walk to the twon in the mornings. I could have stayed at the town center for double-triple prize, suffered more heat stress and had a cozier old building. For me the Acron clearly came at the top.

But really: as a popular turist location, Wittenberg would need a smart chain hotel with air-conditioned rooms and a good breakfast. Even if you like a historical properties, the cozy evironment rarely outsets staying at a 25-30 C temperature room with windows open to noisy streets for a couple of nights.
