From outside the hotel seems like just another box. But inside it has a beautiful atrium, which makes the whole stay very exciting and enjoyable. The whole atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing. A great place!
The hotel is a typical business hotel with professional staff, clean facilities, and good maintenance. The rooms and hotel itself were a bit dated, with a bathtub and wand but no rain shower, open atrium, and non-open layout in the suite. Those aren't issues for comfort. What I did find what that the room was too hot and putting the thermostat at the lowest setting did nothing to change that. The thick and non-breathable blanket didn't really help the matter. Pillows were also of the very unsupportive feather variety. I'm very noise sensitive and the rooms were reasonably quiet. Breakfast was good and overall the experience was good but for business travel I'd rather have better sleep over any other amenity so it really took away from the stay.
The hotel is still in good shape. Hoiwever, it is imminent that the status of maintenance and decoration is getting to it‘s expiration limit. E.g. the hotel garage elevator was broken during my stay. The bathrooms have just outgrown current design expectations that I have when I book a Steigenberger hotel … all in all a good deal, but not up to full Steigenberger standards
Grrat location in the heart of Jena within walking distance to shops and trams. The checkin process was easy and service sufficient. The room was nice with two twin beds pushed together. Beds and bedding were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and had quality soaps. The towels and toilet paper were both rough and not soft. The hair dryer had a stickiness to it when there was humidity from the shower. Breakfast is not included in the price. The breakfast was great and all food delicious. Great experience.
We arrived at the property and were greeted by a stressed and over worked employee. *quite sad really. When I asked wether there was a reason that the hotel was unreachable since days I told: ´Sir, as you see I am alone and it is impossible for me to continuously pick up the phone and do check-in(out) at the same time. (I had been trying to call for days as we needed more rooms) For this reason two of my business associates had to sleep in Steigenberger MAXX Hotel which by the way, was also horribly understaffed. In general, the hotel and its facilities are superb and the location is wonderful. It is just really a shame that they overwork the employees while using the Corona pandemic as an excuse. I hope these issues will be resolved ASAP because this really is very bad for the Steigenberger reputation as a whole! …
