#4 of 21 hotels in Weimar
Travellers' Choice
The Hotel Elephant Weimar in the heart of the classic city is one of Germany's most historic and renowned hotels. Looking back on a long tradition the hotel is operated by arcona Hotels & Resorts and is expected to open in October 2018 as Autograph Collection hotel after extensive renovation. Under this brand, Marriott unites exceptional, hand-picked hotels with a unique perspective in design, craftsmanship and hospitality under the premise of "exactly like nothing else". The charm of the boutique hotel is characterized by timelessly elegant design as well as classic Art Deco and Bauhaus elements, which are reflected in 99 comfortable rooms and suites, meeting rooms and public areas. Cultural topics and culinary art are in the focus of attention, as well as an in-house cultural expert opening the treasures of Weimar to guests in the house and on private city tours. One of them is the Hotel Elephant itself: for over three centuries it has been the hub of the city's social life.

Perfect location right in the centre, beautiful building with a very attractive lobby and a nice courtyard, where you can have breakfast or a coffee in the afternoon. Rooms are nice and staff are friendly. Breakfast expensive but nice.

Goethe, Schiller, Bauhaus – you name it! Weimar is unique in the history of Germany, unfortunately also for the down sides of it, like Nazis and the SED-Regime. However, Elephant Hotel has seen it all, which you can feel in every corner of this stylish and completely renovated 5 star hotel in cosy Weimar. The interior and decoration speaks for itself. No need to hide behind Hotel Adlon in Berlin for example. All colours, paintings, garden, lobby, well chosen, could not ask for more. Have to check selective dates, as the hotel offers bargain prices sometimes you will not find in other 5 star hotels in Germany. Breakfast buffet in the Michelin-Star decorated garden restaurant ANNA was outstanding! Thanks to Anna Amalia, as she prepared the ground for everything Weimar now is! Again, coming from Frankfurt, we have not been in such a nice and clean environment for the last years in Germany. So what to complain about? Well – you can question the standard room size, but again, for a bargain price in this historic spot you cannot really complain! The only thing which was a bit annoying, and this is not only applicable for Elephant, but still seems to be an East Germany problem generally, is the service mentality. If you want to experience it – visit this ice cream cafe on Weimarer Marktplatz :-) In terms of Elephant it was more the confusing mini-bar approach. We found a brochure in our room outlining fantastic mini-bar offers (mini-bar was empty by the way). So we decided to benefit from the offer, of course! Again due to the actual mini-bar was empty, we called the missing bottle via reception/ room service and found out it was nearly the double price than displayed on the flyer in our room. However we found a solution next day with the receptionist – so again, no worries – but it leaves a minor negative aspect, to the overwhelming, overall Weimar/ Elephant experience. Don‘t be afraid – We come back for Xmas market, this year :-) If Weimar, go Elephant!!!!!

Stayed two nights on a roadtrip to Germany. The hotel is located on the Market Square and within walking distance of some of Weimar’s best known sights. The history of the hotel goes back to 1696 and the building itself is beautiful and elegant. Good parking is available behind the hotel at EUR 18 per day. Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk informed us of current Covid-19 measures. Changes mainly regarded the breakfast, whereas housekeeping was as usual. Our Deluxe Room was spacious, very clean, quiet and elegant with excellent lighting. It was equipped with a/c, safe, coffee making equipment and good wi-fi. The breakfast was made to order and served at the table with a few items from the buffet. It was possible to order a number of different items, making the quality of the breakfast excellent. Service was friendly and very good. We enjoyed our stay in Weimar and would definitely recommend this hotel.

I am just back from a wonderful stay in this sublime hotel with refined decoration with a Bauhaus style very elegant hotel . What made our stay memorable is the kindness and professionalism of the assistant front desk manager : Nicole Nicole is a young woman who has a very delicate approach with the guests and she know how to handle any situations, she made everything to make our stay amazing . Nicole is full of delicate attentions she make a perfect job . the breakfasts and dinners in the garden in midsummer are absolutely fabulous but what makes the diner even more enjoyable it's the manager of the restaurant Justine who makes you feel like a special guest, Justine is a very delicate young woman and very smily and who manages her restaurant to perfection by taking the time to have a nice conversation with her guests. I would also like to thank the breakfast team who are really lovely. Thanks again to Nicole and Justine you make our stay memorable we will definitely come back. This hotel is highly recommended Antonio from Copenhaguen

The elephant hotel is in a excellent location to start you sightseeing of Weimar. The outside does not say all that much, but inside it es very modern and up to date. The room we had on the 3rd floor had a great view of the Market place. The room very nice and freshly clean. Could not get the AC working but it did not really matter. Breakfast was indoors or outdoors in a small park. Quiet and nice surrounding. Good breakfast but due to the Corona no buffet. Overall great hotel!!!
