The Sol Marbella Estepona Atalaya Park by Melia is celebrated for its clean and spacious rooms, though some guests feel they could benefit from modernization. Travelers are fond of the hotel's engaging activities and the commendable efforts of the affable staff, yet the atmosphere receives mixed reviews, with the evening entertainment and the hotel's dated look drawing some criticism.
While the location offers scenic views, its remoteness is a point of contention. Moreover, the value proposition is questioned by many, especially regarding the 'all inclusive' package and additional costs.

This hotel complex offers over 1,300 beds and an entertainment program every day in the high season. It is therefore very suitable for youth, sports and bus tour groups. Golf enthusiasts will also get their money's worth with 33 golf courses in the region. Due to its sheer size, this hotel complex is less suitable for individual travelers or couples. We were here for 2 weeks on vacation in February 2024. The clear highlight was a very clean, spacious room on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the trees and the sea. There was exactly one dining room open in the low season and it was bursting at the seams, especially on weekends. What stress for the running staff and also for the hotel guests at this noise! Little of the beautiful advertising photos of the outside area could be seen, as everything was closed, except for a small swimming pool, which is apparently opened from 11:00 a.m. and is cordoned off beforehand by a fence. The beach area is very small, very rocky and not suitable for walking. So we rented a car for one week and the other week we took a taxi to the neighboring town of San Pedro for around 10 euros. From here there is a very nice beach promenade for 10 km to Marbella. You can then take bus number 79 back to the Isdabe hotel station on the A7 motorway and walk a good 10 minutes back to the hotel. We experienced this hotel as more of a 3-star hotel, and the overnight prices are accordingly cheap. We don't know why the EU supports and promotes such a hotel complex.

My daughter got married here a week ago . 80 guests came over from various places to celebrate
We were there for 8 days - POSITIVES :- Staff from each department were fantastic from the time we arrived to the time we left ,everyday they all had a genuine smile on their faces & nothing was too much trouble -brilliant
The wedding was exceptional and well organised from start to finish Bars always very friendly and well staffed Restaurants were good , especially as buffet and all inclusive The pools were spotless
I would say the best all round AI I have been to
NEGATIVES:- The pools did not open until 11 am, far too late for a big holiday hotel General food choice good , although not always as hot as it should be Reception staff although excellent I felt they were understaffed there which did result in waiting longer than you should
All in all, for the size of the hotel the staff made us feel important and looked after us
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of getting married here and bringing a lot of guests with them
WELL DONE SOL MELIA ESTEPONA AND TNX FOR A GREAT STAY!!!!!!!!!

We are still at the hotel. There are so many positive things to say about this hotel so I’ll start with the positives. The free WiFi is excellent, our room is big, modern, well furnished, decent sized TV with lots of English channels, free safe and the bathroom is big & modern and our maid excellent. The food really is superb, such a lot of choice for every course & the fish and desserts are first class. We have nothing but praise for the restaurant staff, they are so efficient, clear away dirty dishes and reset tables for new guests so there’s never a queue even in the busiest periods. Food is replenished constantly, always enough plates, cups and cutlery. The chefs are pleasant, friendly and happy to discuss ingredients. The grounds are amazing, well kept, lots of areas in which to sit, plenty of parasols and sunbeds and a quiet pool with lifeguard away from the children’s pool. There are buses running regularly (at the end of the street about 15 mins walk from reception) into Marbella and Estepona fares are €1.40 each per journey so it’s easy & cheap to get around. Why only 3 stars? There is only one bar open and it caters for families with children. It is big and it feels like a canteen or a working man’s club. The activity staff whip the children up into a frenzy of excitement, the microphones are too loud and children are running and screaming everywhere. We have not seen a single night of entertainment because we simply cannot sit in the bar with the children running around. The hotel is not catering for couples and there are far more couples and adult groups than families. When we booked we saw 5 bars advertised. There are amazing well furnished areas in this hotel but they’re closed up. I know the hotel isn’t at full capacity but PLEASE cater for couples. We are chatting to others and we are all going to our rooms after the evening meal or walking 15 minutes to local bars. The hotel is missing an opportunity to sell drink and services to the majority of their guests. I trust this review is taken to be constructive rather than overly critical. The situation can easily be remedied. Management please take note.

Dear Janet, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Sol Marbella Estepona Atalaya Park with the TripAdvisor community, it helps us to grow and improve. First of all, we regret that during your stay only one of our bars was open. The opening hours and opening times vary depending on occupancy and seasonality, something that is indicated on our website. Our hotel is a family hotel with a very powerful animation that makes us a destination for many families, we are sorry if for this reason, your satisfaction was not complete. Of course, your criticism is constructive and we will work on it to continue growing and offering our guests our best service. We are really happy with the rest of the points mentioned in your comment. Meeting guest's expectations is a base on which we constantly work and seek to improve. We are glad it was possible thanks to our rooms, which seek the greatest comfort for our guests and their rest; our restaurant, which is not lacking in quantity, variety and of course, quality; and above all, thanks to our staff. Being united and focused on the guest is our maxim, and day by day we work to transmit it, with pleasure and dedication. If you decide to return to the Costa del Sol, we would be delighted to welcome you again, and do not hesitate to tell us personally those aspects in which we can improve, to solve them during your stay and to make it more pleasant. Yours sincerely, Aitana Aguilar Guest Experience Team

A nice hotel but wouldn't come back for a number of reasons.... Half board - food is nice can't complain however, the waitresses are so extremely rude. It depends which one you get whether you get charged for your water (so be prepared to pay £7 for two small bottles of water with your meals eveytimeyou eat. The half board does NOT include water it seems. Pool Bar prices - around £7 per spirit drink and €2.70 for a can of coke so not cheap. You won't want to have a pool day paying that everytime you want an alcoholic drink, plus there's this coin system and if you forget or lose your coins, it's game over for a drink because they will refuse to serve you! The hotel itself is nice and very clean. There's nothing at all around it though so be prepared for the extortionate local taxi prices (already €4.50 added to the meter before you even tell the driver where you are going). We've been averaging £50 to £60 a day on taxis and thats just to Puerto Banus (each taxi will charge you a completely different fair). Maids are brilliant and very friendly and do change your towels daily. There's no kettle in your room but you do get a small fridge. The hotel shop is expensive for water etc but there's an Aldi a walk up back to the main motorway and a handful of restaurants. A nice hotel but I wouldn't come back due to its location. We also paid for a sea view room which was pointless as you can't see anything lol. The local beach is full of stones so you can't get into the sea. Pic of 'sea view' provided.

Dear guest, Thank you for this review about your stay with us at Sol Marbella Estepona - Atalaya Park. It's delightful to hear that you found our hotel to be nice and the daily meticulous attention of our maids to your satisfaction. The cleanliness and comfort of our hotel, as you've kindly noted, are indeed a priority for us. Regarding the experiences you had with our dining team, we're surprised, as our aim is to provide only the most tempting and yummy options for all our guests, complemented by attentive service. We regret that your interaction did not reflect the high standard we strive to uphold. We are indeed nestled in the heart of the Costa del Sol, with its stunning views and unique experiences, and while our location provides tranquility alongside Isdabe Beach, we acknowledge it might not be ideal for those seeking the hustle and bustle of the city center. We appreciate your comments about the local beach and will take them into consideration, as we continually seek to enhance our guest experience. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kindest regards, Martina Piovesan, Voice of Customer Coordinator

I stayed here in August for a week with my family, 4 adults and 2 children. Positives: The hotel looks beautiful on arrival, very clean, modern and spacious. Rooms are cleaned every day, bathroom is big. Food is good for adults I'd say, varied options every day. Pools are fantastic, quiet pools for relaxing but we were at the big lively pool every day it was great there was something different like blow up slides, sit on inflatables, aqua aerobics and dancing and music every day. Splash park was fab kids loved it. Entertainment was great too always something on - mainly in Spanish. The views are picture perfect looking out over the sea you can sit outside in chairs right infront of the beach. Quiet location if you don't want to be in a busy lively area.
Negatives: We booked 2 rooms and they were on different floors which wasn't a big deal but on arrival 1 of the rooms wasn't ready even though it says check in is ready from 3pm we didn't get the other room keys until after 4 o clock which was abit annoying after a long day travelling. We were never told about the towel situation on arrival and didn't know how to get the hotel towels for the pool so had to go back and ask. Also people leaving towels on sun beds all day and never coming to use them was really annoying. There were no sun beds left if you didn't go down early and put a towel down. 11 am is also late to open the pools, I personally think they should be open earlier than that. We struggled every night to get a drink in the resteraunt. On the first day I walked up to the bar and was told it was table service only which was fine apart from we couldn't get anyone's attention. I assume it must have been understaffed because no one ever came to take our drinks order we had to get up and follow the waiters around to ask them, really felt like I was mithering just to get a drink. The que at the bar outside near the pool was always long as well even if you just wanted to give your cups back for your tokens. I wouldn't say the food is great for kids my son wouldn't eat anything most nights apart from chips. The arcade room in the hotel really needs air con, my kids wanted to go in every night and after standing in there for 30 seconds you were dripping in sweat (lovely lol). Upon checking out I was told there was a charge to my room, I didn't know what for so when I asked what it was they said drinks. We were all inclusive so why I had a charge for drinks didn't make sense. The charge wasn't that much so I didn't bother arguing it but I still think that was wrong. All in all we did have a nice week and enjoyed the holiday that is why I have given it 4 stars but it's not the best all inclusive I've been to so I wouldn't return to this hotel.

Dear guest, Thank you for this review about your stay with us at Sol Marbella Estepona - Atalaya Park. It's delightful to hear that the grandeur of our hotel made a strong first impression and that you appreciated the pristine condition and modern charm upon arrival. The Sol Tribe always aims to provide a clean, comfortable, and vibrant environment for our guests. Your enjoyment of the diverse gastronomic offerings and the lively pool activities, not to mention the picturesque views that embrace the essence of the Costa del Sol, fills us with joy. We're also glad that the kids found their slice of paradise in our Splash Park. We take note of your experiences regarding room readiness and the pool towel service. Our goal is to ensure a seamless start to your vacation, and it seems we stumbled on this occasion. The feedback on the restaurant service and the children's menu is invaluable, and we're seeking creative ways to enhance our service and cater to the tastes of our younger guests. Currently at this hotel. Have to say the the buffet food has been very good BUT we paid for All Inclusive which is a complete waste of time! 3 of the restaurants are closed and if they were open at least 2 of them had a supplemental charge. There is a small and large pool but even with AI we can’t use the small one. The only place to eat apart from the buffet is a very tiny area near the swimming pool which at lunch time has the food removed, and then to eat in that area at lunchtime you have to pay. It’s a long walk from the rooms to the restaurant and bar.The one bar in operation is extremely loud and you can’t hear yourself talk. Up to now the entertainment has been poor at best. The beach is extremely rocky at the waters edge, definitely not ideal for kids. I have just changed my beach towel and had to pay 1 euro for that. The room/bathroom is nice, so ideally stay in your room, eat at the buffet and enjoy the various golf courses. Other than that don’t bother!

The location of this hotel, along a road which leads only to the hotel and public beach, might be a problem for some travellers. While the bus services between Marbella and Estepona are cheap and run every half an hour and there is a taxi rank about 10 minutes walk away, you really need to hire a car unless you want a beach based holiday, as there are very few amenities within walking distance. However, this was the perfect location for our party. We hired a car to see more of the local area and the food was so good in the hotel that there was no need to go looking elsewhere for bars and restaurants. Breakfast and dinner are both buffet style and there is a tremendous range of hot and cold food at both. The variety of food available is far too long to list. There is a good choice of wine available at reasonable prices and cava is included at breakfast. Our room, a suite overlooking the sea, was large, with a television in both the bedroom and sitting room. The bathroom had a double sink, bath and walk-in shower and there was also a second toilet. The bar and restaurant were spacious and efficiently run. Because of the time of year, the hotel was not full but we noted other facilities such as a gym, kids play area, spa and shop. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is a large hotel and I cannot comment on how it would cope when full in summer, but at this time of year it was perfect.

Since we arrived at the hotel I felt at home. Parking in the same hotel, super comfortable, but you can leave the car out, but honestly, on vacation seek parking for 10€/day, is absurd. One fresh and warm reception at a time, with children’s corner, fresh water with a touch of lemon and orange, you are waiting very entertaining. The entertainment staff right at the door pending that our girls are not unattended, especially Antonio and Raul, who nice. During the wait we were lowered the quality girl, Lucia, a charm, constantly looking for our satisfaction

I am coming to rebalance the very negative opinions that are incomprehensible and unfair because we spent a great week in this hotel. Spacious room, very comfortable and clean, bathroom with very clean shower and bathtub, very good catering, we enjoyed the fruit and grilled fish on the plancha. Breakfast with all kinds of breads, pastries, savory and sweet… everyone can find what they’re looking for. Restaurant room with view and terrace overlooking the sea. Of course, as in all these large hotel complexes, there is noise during meals, but that did not bother us more than that...it was rather friendly.
—The first negative point would rather be the location between Estepona and Marbella. A little far from everything. No walking around, it's the highway a little further away. The bus stop is about 900 meters away, so for people who don't walk well this may be a problem.
We rented a car directly from the hotel. Alright ! And so we were free to travel the coast to Cádiz, Ronda... (We parked a lot in covered car parks for convenience. We had to park the car at the entrance to the hotel, outside (easy to find a space out of season), while the closer indoor car park had plenty of free spaces but cost €11 per day!
We would have liked more tourist information and customer feedback on certain destinations like Seville or Granada.
All in all, a very nice week. And I recommend this hotel for its comfort. And once you rent a car, everything is easy.
