The AC Hotel Malaga Palacio delights many guests with its prime location, which offers easy access to local attractions and stunning views. The service is typically lauded for its friendliness, and the hotel's cleanliness receives consistent praise, extending from the rooms to the common areas. While the rooftop bar and amenities are popular for their vibrant atmosphere, some guests have noted issues with prioritization and limited access. The hotel's overall atmosphere, including its festive decor and spacious rooms, is appreciated, though opinions on value and room comfort vary, with some mentioning high costs and subpar air conditioning.

My wife and I began a vacation in Spain in Malaga and chose the AC Hotel by Marriott for our first few days there. It sits on a corner that leads to the walkways into the city center and is in front of the historic cathedral in the city. The hotel also faces a beautfiul park that site between the marina waterfront.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon after a 20+ minute drive from the airport and checked in to a 1BR suite on the eighth floor on the front side of the hotel. The room was spacious, well furnished and had large windows that opened to let in the warm summer breezes. The room also had a balcony accessed through the bedroom that presented a pleasant park and waterview view each morning. The bathroom was in a separate area off the bedroom with an outer area for the sinks and an inner area for the toilet, bidet and shower. It was a good size, but because of the layout, it had no windows or natural light, so was the dimmest part of the room.

The staff was great and friendly. There is a rooftop restaurant, bar and pool that is a night spot for locals, so you will see lines of young people outside in the evenings waiting to get up there. We really loved our stay at the AC and its proximity to food and other sites. It is was easy to get taxis or walk to the bus stops, as well as walkable to the Malagueta beach. I look forward to a return visit in the future.

We usually stay in an Airbnb when we visit Malaga but this time as it was our belated 60th birthdays my husband and I decided to treat ourselves and book a junior room with balcony at this hotel instead. From check in where they stored our luggage as we were early to the fast easy check out we were very impressed. Our room on arrival was set up with a pull out bed in the living room for the snoring hubby and I was lucky enough to have the large and very comfortable bedroom. The facilities were great with a tv in each room, tea and coffee making facilities, a mini fridge, iron, ironing board, robes, slippers, complimentary water and even a heart shaped pastry which was hand delivered to the room to welcome us to Malaga. My husband enjoyed late afternoons reading his book on the balcony while I had a little siesta. We also enjoyed the roof top terrace where I had a swim in the slightly chilly pool followed by delicious cocktails overlooking the cathedral. The staff were all amazingly helpful and very friendly and we will 100% return on our next visit.

Excellent location close to the marina and beach.
Our room was spacious and very clean which is important to me.
We dont have the housekeeping come since i sanitize wverything when we arrive, they were quick and generous in giving coffee refills for pur room.
The only suggestion i have is if you have guests coming in late and are exhausted with only halff a brain functioning from a long travel and time change, maybe explain how the elevator works.
Usually there is an attendant a few times but that late night about 3 of us were confused how the elevator works.

We chose to stay at the Marriott AC in Malaga for two nights this week. I am extremely dissapointed to say that the service provided to visitors to rhe rooftop bar always took priority to guests staying at the hotel itself.
I've been a Marriott Bonvoy member for many years and although my status has dropped to gold in recent times, with the need to work away reduced post pandemic I still expect a certain level of respect paid to me as a paying guest at any hotel property.
Sadly the bad impression starts as soon as you enter. With a number of doormen in place to prevent most from entry. These people are not particularly rude, but not very welcoming either.
Hotel reception never once thanked me for my loyalty to brand nore volunteered details of the bonus rewards I should have expected as a Gold level member.
The rooms we booked were mostly clean and well presented but relatively sparse and just as one might expect of a mid lower level brand from with the Marriott hotel family. Definitely nudging towards 3 star comfort rather than 4.
The biggest issue we had with the room however was that the air conditioning seemed to be blowing out a layer of dust and this gave two of us breathing issues and prevented a decent night's sleep.
The second room air conditioning was incapable of cooling and was still a relative hotbox at 3am.
None of this was however the biggest issue and this Sat squarely with the rooftop space.
Guests are able to make use of the pool only between 10am and 6pm. After this the entire pace opened for the use of anyone wishing to queue. As a guest no benefit or preference is paid. You are just the same as any other day visitor and also paid just as little respect.
One example of this and from a barman named Pedro was frankly awful. Walking to the bar, i politely enquired if table service was offered. "Bar only,"was the grunted response. I then asked for two espresso martinis. Again in grunted response, "cocktails only!" and threw a menu in my direction. After advising that I was a guest of the hotel he shrugged and moved to another customer. We left, assured that our observation of hotel guest priority in every sense played second fiddle.
Frankly the arrogance of the staff working at this place was completely unfounded. I have visited so many great rooftop spaces in the past few years and can honestly say this one is not worth the fuss.
I would recommend so many other hotels close by that for a similar price would offer the basic level of service and courtesy anyone should expect.
A final note for checkout. Not asked if we had enjoyed our stay we were once again simply presented a bill and a card machine. We felt that this appropriately summed up our stay.
Pay up and get out.

Response from Jorge Gonzalez, Dueño at Ac Hotel Malaga Palacio
Responded Jun 11, 2024
Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent stay at the AC Hotel Malaga Palacio. We kindly inform you that the hotel bar is open to the outside like any hotel and bar, and the pool area is reserved for guests staying during bathing time for the enjoyment of those staying during bathing time. Of course, as we indicated on Saturday night, the terrace manager wanted to contact you to assist you personally, since the cocktail you requested was not on our menu, but it was impossible to offer you any other cocktail option because you did not want to serve you, so there was no way we could apologize for not having your favorite cocktail. On the other hand, at no time have we received any comment from you about the heat in the room and we also do not understand if you have not been well at the hotel why you have continued to extend your reservation without having made any comment to any member of the team, since we are always here to serve you. Mr. Schofimon we truly regret that you have not allowed us to resolve any of the incidents you mention because we would have liked to be able to assist you personally and not have to try to respond to you through the comments after your stay that do not give us the option to improve your stay. Thank you for staying at the AC Hotel Malaga Palacio and we hope you choose to stay with us again whenever your travel needs bring you back to Malaga. Best regards,

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights over NYE. We stayed in a Standard Sea View King room on the 8th floor with a balcony, which had a beautiful view of the port. Room was spacious and included a good amount of amenities, including a hot water kettle for tea that was separate from the coffee machine. Bed was comfortable and housekeeping did a nice job cleaning and replenishing amenities each day. Although we did not have room service, we did request dinnerware to be brought to the room and that was done very quickly.

Front desk, concierge and doormen were all cordial. Taxis are easy to grab from the street right outside the front door. As they have a rooftop bar for outside guests, as well as were hosing a NYE event, they did ask each time we entered if we were staying at the hotel, but it wasn’t any issue and they were friendly once we said we were guests of the hotel.

The reason for the 4 star is due to the temperature of our room (#813). The room was extremely hot and while we understood they did not run AC during the winter months, the temperature in the hallway (which was comfortable) vs our room (which felt more like a sauna) was a stark difference. The maintenance person did come to check on our thermostat, and someone brought us a fan; however, as the fan was very old and noisy, we had no choice but to leave our balcony door open anytime we were in our room and prior to bedtime to cool the room down as much as possible. Due to street noise we would then close the door and the room would slowly heat back up. Luckily we don’t mind 28C+ temperatures, but even for us it got quite hot.

Other than the temperature of our room being a bit hot, we had a lovely stay at this hotel and in Málaga and would return to this property again.

We stayed in this hotel twice - once at the beginning of our trip and again at the end. Malaga was not our primary destination, but it's where we were flying in and out of. My husband chose the AC Marriott primarily because we could use points to stay for free. It ended up being terrific for our needs. The hotel is located in the Centro Historico so we were able to walk to all of the key sites and had access to tons of restaurants and bars. The hotel also has a view of the water and we were lucky enough to have an ocean facing balcony room. Because of the location, we were also able to take a walk along the oceanfront and got a chance to enjoy the parade the closed out Carnival.

The front desk staff was incredibly helpful - especially when we were departing for the airport at about 4am. We were concerned about being able to get a taxi at that hour. The night before the front desk made a note, and when we went down in the morning, they radioed the cab and it was there within a minute.

The room was very comfortable, with a good size bathroom. The elevator are tiny, but it gives you an opportunity to meet other guests. There are multiple elevators so we didn't have to wait long even if one was full. Given the short nature of our trip, we didn't make it to the rooftop bar/restaurant, but did have a drink in the lobby bar where the service was good. If I am ever fortunate enough to return to Malaga, I would definitely stay at the AC Marriott again.

Great room with a view after some begging. Fly 3000 miles for vacation following a terribly uncomfortable flight on Air Europa only to be assigned a room overlooking an inside courtyard. Hotel location is great with a 15 floor terrace bar and restaurant with views of the city and marina of Malaga. This has been our 2nd visit to this hotel.

What I really like about the Marriott Bonvoy program is that you are welcome in every hotel, even just to use the restrooms when passing by. Unfortunately, this does not apply to this hotel. As a Titanium Bonvoy member I was not even allowed to go to the toilet. Very strange.

I booked the hotel with a desire to have a luxurious hotel experience, with a central location in Málaga with a short distance to the port, beach and main attractions combined with a breathtaking view, and the hotel delivered 100%. Booked the hotel approx. 1 month in advance.

A few days later I received a message from the hotel that they could not fulfill the wishes I had for the hotel room, despite this being stated in the description on hotels.com when I booked the hotel room. I wrote back that I wasn't happy with that, but that I wanted to keep my booking. When I arrived at the hotel, they chose to give me an upgrade to a larger hotel room with a view of the port of Málaga on the 14th floor, and I even got a welcome cake.

It helped make my stay at the hotel a thoroughly fantastic experience. In addition, I would like to highlight the breakfast with a large and good selection, and the cozy roof terrace with bar and impressive view of the city.

Last but not least, the friendly staff also helped to make the stay an extra good experience. Among other things. the door was opened every time I went in and out of the hotel and they asked how I was and then there were also a few funny comments from the staff as I wore different FC Barcelona t-shirts during my stay.

We stayed here as part of a long weekend in Malaga.
Location is excellent. Right by the cathedral in the old town and an easy walk to everywhere you’d want to go. There is also a taxi rank right around the corner. Despite the central location the soundproofing must be good because we could barely hear a thing outside from our room, which was a bonus as Malaga is not a city that goes to bed early!

Check-in was a little crowded, though it looked as though they had a conference on at the time. Covid protocols mean that there is a queuing system for the elevators, and this can mean there’s a bit of a wait sometimes given the number of floors in the building.

Our room was massive and on a corner with views of the cathedral and city from one window and the Alcazaba from the other. Really good value for the money we paid for it.

We didn’t use any of the on-site restaurants for breakfast or dinner but did have a drink at the small pool bar on the roof. Drink prices weren’t terrible and the location and view make it well-worth a visit. They also limit the amount of people who can visit the rooftop bar (for covid reasons I imagine) so though those not staying at the hotel can use it for a drink, they would be the first turned away in favour of guests instead.
