Barceló Málaga garners praise for its spacious and spotless rooms, though a few guests suggest the decor could use an update. The hotel's atmosphere strikes many as modern, but some areas appear less inspired. Its tranquil setting is a hit, notwithstanding occasional road noise. Staff members receive accolades for their exceptional service, contributing to memorable stays. Nestled conveniently near transportation and the city center, the hotel's location is highly valued, although opinions on its pricing vary. While amenities, including a unique slide, add to its appeal, some service aspects need attention.

This is a good hotel in a convenient location at Malaga Maria Zambrano train station. The hotel can be directly accessed from within the train station. The train station has many shops which is convenient whilst staying at the hotel. You could get trains and trams to all popular locations from here. Despite the location next to the train station you can not hear any noise from the station in the hotel. On our first night we found it really difficult to sleep and then realised that this was because the air con had been blowing out warm air. We had to call reception as we were very uncomfortable in the room. They offered to move us to a cooler room for the night. We were told that the air con is not functional at this time of year. I wish hotels would clearly advertise this on all booking websites. We discussed the issue with the manager Rosa the next morning and she explained that we can keep the original room and she will get the air con activated. The service from Rosa was excellent and she checked up on us throughout our stay. The breakfast was good with a good selection of cereals (no porridge), pastries, fruit, and freshly made smoothies. The pancakes could have been better and there possibly could have been a better hot food selection for vegetarians. I’ve previously stayed at Barcelo Istanbul and the breakfast selection there was amazing. The staff at this hotel were excellent and spoke good English. Overall I would probably stay at this hotel again if the price was right.

Although we don't live far away, we decided to stay overnight at the hotel as we had an early morning appointment in Málaga. The location of the hotel could not be more convenient, adjacent to the railway, metro and bus stations. We arrived at 11.30 am intending to ask if we could leave our bags until checking in later, and were pleasantly surprised when the very helpful and pleasant receptionist, Amalia, checked us in immediately and we could go straight up to our room. The room was very modern, clean and spacious with a very comfortable 2 metre wide bed and an excellent rain shower in the bathroom. Soundproofing in the hotel seemed excellent as it was very quiet everywhere. The rooftop terrace and pool looked very nice but unfortunately the weather that day wasn't conducive to using it - it's good that the pool is available for use even with the covid restrictions though. We had a nightcap in the bar and prices were quite reasonable for a 4· hotel, €3.50 for a glass of wine and €5.50 for a large brandy. At breakfast the Covid hygiene measures were good. A good selection of food available although the normal service of eggs, pancakes, etc. cooked to order is suspended during the pandemic. I recommend booking , via the Barceló hotels' own website as a 10% discount is available if you join their loyalty programme and an additional discount if guests are over 55 so the price we paid was extremely reasonable.

Dear Guest, We always find it nice to read that our guests went home with great memories about their stay and we are very grateful for the time and effort you spent to share your personal experience at our Barceló Málaga hotel with us and Tripadvisor readers. Undoubtedly, one of our strengths is our privileged location next to the main train and bus station of Málaga and a short walk to the old town area; we are glad to know that you found it useful during your stay among us. On the other side, we are glad to know that you enjoyed the beauty of our pool area in our roof top B-Heaven terrace. We also would like to thank you for pointing out the good value for money of our hotel as we always strive to ensure the best pricing for our guests. We hope to welcome you back to our hotel in the near future for yet another great stay. Best regards, Management Team Barceló Málaga

We overall enjoyed this hote,l where we found the reception staff superb.
We asked for a quiet room and this was what we got on the 6th floor overllooking the back. The rooms are large and comfortable but the airconditioning is turned off for the winter, so unable to cool the room down in the night, as there was only one small window to open. The hotel provided a kettle and cups but told us that we had to pay for coffee/tea/cream sachets which we thought most odd for such a stylish 4 star hotel. The breakfast was excellent with good choice of hot and cold food They closed the restaurant two years ago; the ground floor level bar area now acts as the restaurant which we never used as it was always too cold and draughty. Its a good 20 minute walk to the edge of the old town and and the same to the beaches. There are a few scattered restaurants near the hotel In future we would choose a hotel closer to the tourist attractions even though this hotel is a few stops to the airport.

THERE’S A SLIDE! Nothing will beat watching immaculately dressed men in suits holding briefcases whizz down the slide into the (beautifully designed) bar!Quite a small room, however and the Gastrobar restaurant was not good at all. Breakfast was okay, with a wide selection, if some difficulties with the cooked food.

It is very well located- you can walk straight into the train station which has a shopping centre in it through the back door but it isn’t noisy at all. The whole hotel’s design is incredible- a cool computer area with cushioned spiky walls, toilet stalls with mirrors on either wall (kind of weird, but cool). The pool has glass walls and is a little like a fish tank, though. Also, there’s a nice rooftop bar and sun lounging place.

We stayed for 5 nights and paid a rate that included breakfast each morning. We couldn’t be more pleased. We took the train to and from the airport, and also trains and buses for day trips to Ronda, Granada and Cordoba. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the train and bus stations, and about a 20-25 minute walk to the Malaga city center. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to catch the bus to Granada at 7am one morning so we would have missed our breakfast. The front desk advised us to order breakfast the day before and a bountiful and delicious breakfast “to go” was ready for us to pickup at the front desk by 5.30am the next morning. That’s great service! We also had tapas at the bar area on the night of our arrival. Great wifi in our spacious room and good water pressure in the showers. What more can you ask? Highly recommended!

A brilliant stay at Barcelo Malaga. Some of the highlights include; incredibly friendly staff (Virginia!), really tasty breakfast with fresh ingredients and a wide range of healthy options and comfy beds. Had a great nights sleep every night as the rooms are soundproof so you don't hear anything! Would 100% recommend this hotel - felt really safe and lots of covid-19 measures in place( hand sanitiser/mask-wearing).

We ate at the hotel for breakfast and lunch everyday and the lunch was also tasty. During covid, the pool bar was shut so if you wanted drinks/food at the pool you could order it on the app and go down to the lobby to get it. This wasn't much inconvenience but it would definitely be better with the pool bar open :)

Stayed here for 3 nights with my husband and then booked an adjoining room for my children who joined us to stay. Hotel was really lovely and the pool area small but very modern and everything you needed was there. Drinks reasonably priced for a hotel and location was ideal next to the station that takes you straight to the airport and a 20 minute walk into the centre. Staff were extremely courteous and very helpful even checking us in early and making sure we didn't have to move rooms even the children arrived. Excellent stay.

Most of the staff not very helpful or friendly. Emailed them with a couple of questions before we arrived and their response about as useful as a chocolate teapot! Gave us duff info also when we were trying to arrange our COVID PCR tests before we flew back.

It is a stylish, modern hotel, right next to the train station and it was really easy to get taxis into the centre for around 5 euros. We were so disappointed that the slide was out of bounds due to COVID. That was going to be one of our highlights!!! Rooms very comfortable but very limited storage with a distinct lack of drawer space. Only two v small drawers in the wardrobe. We largely lived out of our suitcases. It feels very much like a business hotel e.g. no dressing table but a desk under window - with no mirror. Well worth paying for breakfast. Fabulous choice although we stuck to the continental. Fried stuff was a bit dismal.

We were told you had to book to go to rooftop terrace but no-one policed it so in reality, you don't need to book. Most of the sunbeds get taken up pretty quickly but there are other seating areas. It was lovely with fab views. Pool is smaller than it looks on photos. Bar only open later in the day... had to go all the way downstairs to ground floor bar to get drinks. You would think bar staff would come up and take orders. It was always busy and they must be missing out on bar revenue. Bit shout out to the bar man on the terrace though. He was lovely and made the most amazing cocktails!

In summary.. very swish hotel with fab rooftop terrace, in a great location BUT felt the staff really let the place down and the lack of drawer space in room gets really irritating after a few days.

The hotel looks very great inside and outside, with travel links with the sightseeing bus, overground train and metro all within 2 minutes.

The only downside was one member of staff at the restaurant was very rude and the wardrobe had a some damage.

Overall the staff were friendly and a pleasure to be around.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed going down the slide on the 1st floor which was a lot of fun.

Had a three day "Twixtmas" break to Malaga! The hotel is right in the railway station so really easy to access from the airport. The Old Town and Marina were about a 15 minute walk away. Christmas lights in Malaga wee amazing.
We had a room on the 6th floor. For a 4* hotel, it was disappointing to see peeling , stained wallpaper from what had clearly been a bad leak from the floor above!
Also, for a so-called "superior room" to provide a third bed more suitable to a young child than a 17 year old was inexcusable! Would only book this hotel again if there were two of us.
That said, it's a lovely hotel and later in the year, the rooftop pool and bar would be fabulous!
Breakfast buffet was great ( though the Cava seemed to be merely for decoration as it remained unopened in the ice bucket!). Once seated, there was absolutely no interaction from staff - totally unlike any other Spanish hotel I have visited.
Malaga itself has lots to do and see with a great choice of inexpensive bars and restaurants. We'll be back! 😎
