Club Med Magna Marbella in Andalusia has impressed many with its beautiful, well-maintained rooms and a range of engaging activities, including shows for children and a garden party. While the hotel's picturesque location by the mountains is praised, some guests feel it lacks a local Spanish flavor. The cleanliness of this relatively new establishment receives high marks, as does the friendly and efficient service. However, the value proposition is questioned by some due to the high cost and French-centric experience. Amenities are generally well-regarded, though not without suggestions for improvement.

My husband and I have just returned from a 10 day stay and I’m wishing I was still there. I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews about the amount of English spoken but we did not have a problem at all. Yes, the first language used is French but once anyone realised you didn’t understand, they switched straight away. The rooms and surrounding grounds are spotless and really well maintained, and every member of staff were friendly and enthusiastic. There is a large choice of food in the restaurant so always something for everyone.

Our main reason for coming here was that we wanted to improve our tennis skills. We joined the beginners group lessons every morning and then took a paid for lesson after. Elio our teacher was amazing. He clearly loves Tennis and his enthusiasm shone through in his teaching so by the end of our stay, we definitely noticed the improvement in our game. Would highly recommend him if you’re looking to advance your skills!

I also took the opportunity to try something new and had a go on the Trapeze. Again, the team led by Robin are all excellent teachers and encouragers! From the first scream during the first swing to the final catch, Robin, Michela, Judith, Mathis and Eythan made you feel safe and encouraged you to progress quickly through the week. A definite must try!

We had a fabulous time and already planning our next trip!

First trip to Club Med for me but my partner has been many times as he enjoys the tennis. I wasn't sure what to expect but I enjoyed it.
The hotel is newly renovated so all areas were gleaming. Its a high-rise with balconies and although very full it was peaceful at night in the room and the lifts have new technology so are fast. Comfortably 4 star lodging with 5 star facilities.
My partner was happy with his morning tennis and afternoon padel and I loved the winding pathways through the gardens to walk. Will be even prettier when the landscaping comes in. I should think someone with limited mobility or a wheelchair user would be able to get around too. Although on a hill, inclines are kept soft where possible and there are hand rails.
Pools of many kinds ( resort, indoor, child, zen) were all good although my partner said the zen pool was cold.
Lots of fun had by the smaller children in the kids camp ( it was term time) and you would see them out and about with their groups sometimes or putting on a show.
Food is where they really shine. They have a massive indoor/outdoor restaurant above the main bar and pool that could seat anyone who wanted to be there. No lines whatever for tables. Buffet had so much choice, was well looked after and it wasn't done cheaply- whole 6ft swordfish being handcut for sashimi, oysters, steak, fish, pasta, pizza, and so much fabulous salad and fruit. You could eat a 3 course meal at every sitting but still feel healthy. Just wish a French cafetiere had been available for coffee at breakfast but the croissants were first rate. There is a restaurant with table service and we had no trouble getting a reservation (only required for dinner) but liked the choice in the buffet better in the end.
None of the old Club Med issues of being stingy with towels or enforced socialising. Anyone could come and relax from young families to older couples like us. Just find what you like. There is a lot on offer.
The manager was very welcoming upon arrival and visible throughout the day so you know he is very much in touch.

The resort is nicely designed and rooms are luxurious when compared to other club meds. We loved having connecting sea view rooms; we were at the end of the hall, which reduced noise. The noise from the shows stops around 11; we didn’t mind it too much. Club Med is very well equipped for traveling with small kids, but couldn’t imagine going there without kids. While others noted that there was lack of English spoken, it must depend on when you go and that was not an issue when we went as there were lots of British and even some Americans, this was Aug 30-Sep 4. Location is good. It’s great to be able to take an 8 min taxi ride to Marbella’s old town or see other sights and go out to dinner, so we didn’t spend our entire days at the hotel. I recommend sticking around the hotel for the Wednesday evening garden party and Friday night they do a nicer dinner as a farewell bc a lot of people tend to depart on Saturday. The spa is great too, but book it before you go as it was all booked up for the week once we arrived.

We had an incredible stay at Club Med Magna Marbella. It was a peaceful location, everything was brand new. As a mother this was the break I needed. I did not have to worry about a thing, food and drinks, including snacks all day are provided - so no food shopping at all!! The kids entertainment and facilities are amazing. My son loved the kids club, the facilities and activities were great, the staff were fun and nice.

My husband enjoyed the variety of sports and free lessons/tuition, so he had a week full of activities.

We had such a great time we never even left the resort to go out and visit anywhere.

This is a real place for relaxation, getting away from it all, leave the stress behind, place. As are all Clubmed.

We love the fact that when you arrive you put your wallet in the safe and don't need it. There is nothing to pay our for when you are there unless you want to buy a bottle of champagne or some of the lovely items in the shop, or pay for 1:1 sports lessons. The cost of the holiday is what you pay when you book, there are not extras.

The food is amazing, so much variety, the quality is incredible, different choices for each meal. Again we ate in the same restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we did not even try the other restaurant because the meal was so good in the main one.

Being able to get drinks is great too - everything is included - not like those all inclusive hotels where they have a vending machine with wine and plastic cups, this is a proper bar full of included drinks inc cocktails.

Everything and everywhere you look is high quality.

The staff are fab too, always happy, always smiling and saying helle, they are obviously chosen for their personality and hard work!

We have been going to Clubmed for over 20 years and love it! This hotel was no exception, in fact it was impressive.

We will be back next year!

The facility is very nice and the food quality is very good compared to other club meds (Sandpiper, Turks, Punta Cana, Ixtapa). Be prepared that 95% of the guests speak French, and consequently that is the default language by GOs. (Staff are local and so speak Spanish). With a full resort there was a Total of 70 English speaking guests during our stay. Tennis and Paddle announcements and instructions will always first be in French, and often not in English at all. They assume everyone speaks French and if you don't you'll have to ask. There is an evening gathering for English speakers, don't miss it, and consider arranging to be at the same table for the Wednesday garden dinner. If you want beer at the garden party dinner, bring it down from the main bar. You must sign up the day before for Paddle Tennis lessons (at the Tennis clubhouse) or you won't get in. This is the only Club Med where GOs get 2 days off. Consequently, there is pretty much no organized sports on Saturday, and not a lot on Sunday either. The trapeze team is fantastic, but there is no trapeze on Saturday or Sunday. There is trampoline, static and juggling on Sunday. Tuesday is the guest trapeze show by invite if you have a successful trick. The sit down restaurant La Tierra is quieter, probably because the menu doesn't appeal to most kids. Reservations for dinner are required at Tierra, but not for breakfast or lunch. Our visit into old town (Orange Square) and down to the beach was not worth doing. Finding a taxi back was a very unpleasant experience. We love Spain, Marbella not so much. Chef of the Village Jean Pierre greets you with a genuine smile several times a day (he's everywhere), is welcoming and approachable.

We stayed at Club Med Magna Marbella from 11 to 18 July 2023. The holiday was to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday and we had invited all our family, 11 of us, five grandsons, aged five, 10, 12, 14 and 18, and our son and daughter and their spouses

Our holiday exceeded all expectations, and we had a wonderful time! The staff, G.Os and local were helpful, efficient and exceedingly pleasant. The chef de village, Pierre Jean is inspirational. Sometimes we thought he must have a twin because he seemed to be everywhere, always smiling and good natured and obviously giving a wonderful example to all his staff. Special mention must go to Andrea, the kindly restaurant manager who organised a reserved table for us for the whole of our stay. the reception staff were excellent, probably I would give the lovely Ghizane special mention but all of them were very helpful dealing with matters like lost property and any problems with the rooms. The GOstaff were excellent, incredible energy and enthusiasm. The local staff were smiling and responsive and I would particularly mention Claudia, Bodo and the endearing Brazilian waiter and the lovely Camerounais in the restaurant who made meal times that little bit more enjoyable.

The food was excellent. There was something for everyone. The kids loved it and so did we.

The rooms were beautiful, well designed and kept clean and tidy by a very efficient maid service.

We were fortunate enough to be in Marbella. for the 14th of July, and to be honest, none of us have ever experienced a fête quite like it. It was just wonderful and the organisation that must’ve gone on behind the scenes was mind-boggling.

I really can’t praise our visit enough. In an ideal world, it would’ve been nice to have a shuttle bus to go to the beach, but it was quite easy and not expensive to take a taxi. It would also have been nice to have a shady pool to swim in with the children were possibly swimming lessons could’ve been organised. The main large pool did get a bit hectic at times.

I personally loved the Zen pool, and the Spanish buggy drivers were charming and helpful. The wellness pool was great too, particularly as the weather was extremely hot and it afforded some Shade and cooler water.

What a holiday! We have experienced club med before (Palmiye in Turkey) so had high expectations. However the negative reviews had me worried. The negative reviews are simply not true! The chief de village, Pierre, is everywhere & he works so hard, always with a smile on his face. On our first day we mentioned to him that some of the steps at the pool were dangerous. On the same day he had fixed the problem- see photo. Thank you Pierre! The entire team of staff spoke lots of languages, so communicating was never a problem. The rooms were above expectations in terms of size, luxury & very quiet (we had 2 interconnecting sea view rooms) Our kids are 15 & 11, didn’t want to bother with the teens club so can’t comment on that. We ventured into Marbella one day which was a quick 10 min taxi ride, then we walked down to the sea front which was lovely easy to do. Food was fantastic, no complaints at all (we are foodies!) Lots going on in the evenings- something for everyone. Very safe resort, we loved it & will definitely return.

The hard product of this village is really solid. Our room is stunning - the view from our balcony was simply breathtaking! We really enjoyed the tennis (the courts were in an immaculate condition), hanging around the zen pool and enjoying fresh fruit cocktails, and eating at the two high quality restaurants. The GO team, led by Pierre Jean, is doing a fantastic job. Special thanks to Sophie (RDM), Asmaa (Guest relations), Olena (Speciality restaurant manager), Jeaninne (Bar), Mina (Zen bar) and Rim (boutique). We will be coming back, for sure.

Overall we had a fun week, and enjoyed some activities and the hospitality. Club Med is an expensive holiday though, and a few things (in no particular order) disappointed me about Magna Marbella:
On the occasion I tried beach volleyball, 10 guests and 5 members of staff turned up. The organiser decided to put all the staff members in a team who played one of the teams made up of guests and the rest of the guests were made to wait! When the staff team won the first game, they then stayed on, expecting my team to then stand & wait. Surely the guests should’ve played and the staff come back another day.
The kids enjoyed the inflatable slide in the pool and the foam party. Why only get those things out once in the whole week?
Lots of the activities all happened at the same time (around 16.30). Why not spread things out?
Our transfer wasn’t until 6pm. Arranging a late check out was a painful experience. It took three trips to reception to organise, I was told information that was clearly untrue and my wife found the receptionist she spoke to was very rude.
The queues at the main bar were often very long.
Some meals were excellent, especially the outdoor dinner on Wednesday, but others less so.
The kids club was conducted in French, so very few English children got involved.
We had a good week, but unlike previous Club Med experiences, this one felt a little disappointing.

We are a London based family of 2 adults and 3 children aged 6 and under. We booked and paid £4000 in advance for a week at the new CM Marbella in August. So far so good. However, on reading the Trip Advisor reviews for the resort we were worried that the Kids Club staff seemed only to speak French and that English speaking kids were feeling left out because of this. We were also worried about how the staff would then communicate with our kids if there was an emergency or one of them was feeling sick etc. I spoke to the CM telephone operator who was helpful and suggested I call the resort directly to speak to the manager and the Kids Club staff. And this is where it all went wrong. I spoke to reception at Marbella on 3 occasions asking for help and was assured the manager and the Kids Club staff would call me back to reassure me. The receptionist was helpful but didn’t speak great English which was slightly worrying. No one ever called me back. Despite me calling and explaining I would cancel unless I was certain my kids would actually enjoy being in the Kids Club, as it was probably the most important part of the holiday for us. The receptionist eventually outlined the CM cancellation policy as us forfeiting 25% of the £4000 as we were between 45 and 90 days from arrival. We took a deep breath and decided to cancel as we had no assurance on the concerns we had. It turns out this is the wrong information and we have lost 50% (£2000) of our money as the information she gave us was incorrect, this is the Spanish cancellation policy , they have a different set of rules in the UK. No one at CM seems at all bothered why we have cancelled, no one has asked why etc so I take it this is a common occurrence. This would have been our first CM family holiday and given we have young children would most likely have been an annual occasion if we had enjoyed the experience. Needless to say we will never use ClubMed ever again and I would be wary of paying for your holiday up front as their cancellation policy is horrific.

Apologies - have only just seen your question. We were high up in the building and heard no noise. I’m guessing that rooms on the lower floors may be in hearing of the evening entertainment especially if at the front of the hotel. But as with all Club Med properties this doesn’t go on very late. In terms of traffic noise there is a road running up the left hand side as you face the front of the hotel. However it wasn’t that busy and even walking near it in the garden and by the tennis courts it wasn’t a problem.

Apologies - I’ve only just seen your question and I’m afraid I can’t recall the type of coffee machine in the room. I very rarely make coffee/tea in any hotel room as they never have fresh milk in the fridge unless you get it yourself. At this Club Med, as will all their properties, it’s easy to get a good cup of coffee most of the day from the restaurant or bar.
