Revamped Royal Townhouse Once the summer residence of Empress Eugenia de Montijo (Napoleon III´s wife), Hotel Claude Marbella is a 17th- century townhouse that has been revamped and restyled to meld authentic period features with modern design, setting a new benchmark in the boutique-is- beautiful league of southern Spanish hotels. This latest chic retreat takes its name from the late Claude Devoize, the French Opera singer, whose home this townhouse was back in the 70s and 80s, hosting endless soirees and cultural gatherings. The focus of Hotel Claude is its marble-flagged patio and its unique romantic roof terrace, overlooking the bustling old town of Marbella. The seven rooms, divided into 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms and 1 Suite, have been designed individually and each boasting their own unique personality and feel, though all come equipped with the latest in comfort and technology. The Suite Francesca is the only room that looks out onto the old town’s main street. A large balcony and a huge floor-to-ceiling window keep it bright and airy, and the high, wood-beamed ceilings and decorative arch leading to the minimalist mosaic-fitted bathroom create a sense of spaciousness. All 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms are located to the back of the building, overlooking neighbouring patios and roofs. Up in the eaves, The Flamand room overlooks the roof terrace and has its own private stairwell leading up to a smart loft-style studio with glossy oak floors and a semi-open-plan bathroom. Listening to the church chime outside and looking out over the steeple, you feel like a princess in a tower. Savannah and North African-themed Marroqui are joined by a courtyard, making them ideal for families or friends travelling together. Small properties can sometimes feel stifling, but not here, and the design incorporates a flurry of velvet, purples, reds and cream colours. Once the a la carte breakfast has been served on the roof terrace or the black and white themed “bijou” style dining room, guests are left to their own devices. Focusing on showing guests a slice of the old Marbella, in addition to the Costa del Sol´s beaches and golf courses, Hotel Claude emphasises on slowing down and enjoying the surroundings. You´d be hard-pressed to find a retreat as slick or private as The Claude anywhere in Marbella.

Excellent service and a delicious sun roof breakfast. The room was very beautiful, amazing rain shower, comfortable bed/pillows, soft towels and bathrobe. Like any top class hotel, the room was prepared for sleeping with complementary slippers and pyjama’s, while we were having diner at Skina restaurant around the corner. Diner at Skina and sleeping at Hotel Claude is a perfect combination and highly recommended. Very good hotel and we will surely be staying here again.

This is a place where you want to be and feel really welcome. The manager and his team have done their maximum to make us feel as comfortable as possible in these hard times where Covid-19 is impacting everybody. They didn’t accept offering a lower service. For us it was a unique experience since we are always looking for hotels with a personal touch like this, but it’s very hard to find. The rooms and common spaces are beautiful and better than on the presented pictures, the breakfast is very fresh and more than complete, the service is triple A+ and the location is great. I wish there were more hotels like this where love and offering the guests an awesome time is leading. We will stay there again!

I have lived entirely in hotels for three of the past five years and in my entire life including those years I have never had such a terrible experience with the management of a hotel. A horror. The hotel was unable to process a deposit and wanted me to pay the full bill upfront I said no ….but I relented and ended up paying half , but in the meantime the manager harassed is and ruined our dinner and locked me and my 10-year-old son out of the room at midnight. My hope is that the owner of the hotel reads this review and abruptly changes the management, because the hotel is gorgeous and the rooftop terrace a one-of-a-kind ineffable magical place….. But no one should be treated like that as a guest. Ever. Note to manager: Don’t bother offering a lame response to this because it was much worse than I have written and you know it.

Dear Guest, I would to congratulate you on the choice of the title for the review. It is definitely worthy of a best seller novel or a Hollywood movie. I also would like to thank you for your positive comments in regards to the hotel facilities, especially the rooftop terrace which you described as a one-of-a-kind ineffable magical place... Dear Guest, this is an awkward situation for me as I am writing to you on behalf of our owner. We take our reviews, whether positive or negative, very seriously, and we investigate each review to be sure that it is genuine. We have a system in place where we send mystery shoppers to our properties in order for us to insure that the level pf service that we offer to our guest is impeccable. Our partners also send their own mystery shoppers to make sure that the hotel continues to provide a faultless service to our guests. I do not want to go into the details of the dispute as I do not believe that this is the right platform to do so. However, and in reference to your complaint regarding the Manager of the hotel, Mr. Stelian Voicu, I would like to inform you that he has been working in this establishment for the past 14 years. During his period here, he has proved to be a vey capable employee and manager. If you would take the time to look at what other guests have said, you will definitely come to the obvious conclusion that he handles all matters with great professionalism and is highly respectful to all our guests. After conducting a thorough investigation into your claims and reviewed our CCTV, we believe that Mr. Voicu was very courteous and treated you with respect and stayed calm through out the incident that happened at the hotel. Kind Regards, On behalf of the owner, Benard Olivier Guest Relations Department Hotel Claude Marbella

I came to Hotel Claude for one night, (in fact I had a reservation for two nights but due to thee logistics of the flight company it was canceled)where I found one of the beat hotel services and amenities which could be founded in hotels.Since you walk into the hotel you get in a special relax mood. The combination of the historical building and the interior design of the hotel and room (I think total of eight) with all the amenities you will find in the room starting with the free minibar, bottle of red wine, still and sparkling water , chocolates ,potato chips, nuts, almonds playing cards and ending with PIJAMAS with their logo, is something absolutely fantastic and I think that each of us wants this whim at least once in our lives.Stelian, the manager,is very polite well-prepared and does his job with confidence and great pleasure. It gives you enrhy and at the same time ✌️ peace while explaining everything about the history of the hotel and the art gallery and he gives you the best tips for the restaurants in the area.(he drive 60km for us without expecting anything in return) All people who work there are very friendly and helpful. I can not wait to return next year!
