Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, is celebrated for its luxurious amenities, including serene pools, a rooftop bar, and a spa, all set within immaculately clean grounds. The hotel's sophisticated atmosphere and prime location make it ideal for exploring local attractions, although some destinations may be a bit far on foot. While the rooms are admired for their comfort and style, a few guests have pointed out issues with size and maintenance.
The staff's exceptional service often receives commendation, despite occasional lapses. However, some visitors feel that the hotel's pricing is steep.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed at this hotel in April 2018 and once GB opened an air bridge to the Canaries (rescinded after we arrived, but that's another story) we booked this hotel at short notice. We had room 404 which is classes as a superior de-luxe for which you get a large bed and balcony . The bathroom has a bath and separate shower cubicle. All very comfortable. The very unthoughtful guests before us departed leaving the safe locked ( man soon arrived to fix) and a coffee machine that leaked water out of the base. We reported this the next day and a maintenance man arrived very quickly and found the machine was indeed broken, brought another within half an hour (brand new out of the box), installed it and arranged for the maid to come and dry up the leak. The maid then offered us a kettle as well as the coffee machine (essential for us Brits as you need boiling water to make a decent cup of tea)
Breakfast is a very high standard. Freshly squeezed orange juice, tea served in a pot and eggs made to order. The fresh fruit offering and bakery is also top notch. We do not eat meat but there is a good selection of cheeses and sliced meats.
We also had a little trouble confirming our return car to the airport and the reception desk went above and beyond what good service is to get it sorted for us.
Faultless, and at a very good price.

We are just back from our 5 day stay at this stunning, luxury hotel. The architecture of this building is beautiful with lots of nooks and crannies to relax and unwind. We had a junior suite which grants access to the rooftop pool and spa facilities. I would recommend booking a suite to get these advantages. Due to restrictions, the spa requires to be booked so it’s never crowded and only two other people were using it that morning. The rooftop pool also lots of beds and loungers. We did use the main pool one day too which was a lot bigger but preferred the quiet and chilled atmosphere at the rooftop.
I can’t rave about the staff enough. The reception, waiters and everyone that worked there were so helpful. Later on in the day we soon realised someone would attend the room and replenish the coffee and leave chocolates every afternoon (we called her the Lindor lady) we had large size shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Even the white company body lotion which was a nice touch. Robes and slippers also in the room that you wear down to the Spa. We didn’t try and treatments but the spa facilities were excellent. The roof was open which was great for air flow.
The only thing is where the hotel is located. I’m glad we wanted just a chilled out holiday as when you leave the hotel there isn’t much around it. It’s almost like in the middle of a city and the “busy area” being a 25 min walk. We just ate and drank mostly in the hotel and were happy with that. Gutted we didn’t get to try the Poems restaurant as that was a Michelin Star but it was about a week in advance for a reservation. Our breakfast was included and it was an excellent choice. As soon as you were shown to your table you got water, fresh orange juice and a tea or coffee. Chef on hand to make eggs how you want. Pastries were fantastic too. Staff always up and down replenishing your drinks.
Tips. Go to the supermarket for bottles of water for €1 for 2 litres. A half litre bottle at the bar is €4.50 and we drink at least 2 litres each a day! We came in December as much as it was roasting during the day, it does get chilly at night so bring a jacket or cardigan. We came with just our revolut cards and everywhere more or less does take card. Just cash for the taxis to and from the airport.

This hotel is in a historic building that has been recently refurbished to a very high standard.
It is set in parkland all around with a grand entrance. A variety of restaurants. An excellent breakfast with outdoor seating in a most pleasant setting.
We stayed in a suite which had a sofa bed. The TVs are hidden in mirrors. Our suite gave us VIP access to the roof top pool and terrace which I highly recommend. Great views of the harbour. Poolside food arrived quickly.
The service was good. Check in was not super fast but ok.
There is a big car park downstairs but note that it costs €20 a day.
The location is about half way between Las Canteras beach in the north and Vegueta in the South. A taxi to the Auditorio Alberto Kraus cost us under €5.

The quality of this hotel is no doubt 5 star. It is comfortable, good restaurants, excellent breakfast comfortable rooms, great spa, friendly and helpful waiters and good housekeeping. It seems to have everything. Unfortunately dealing with some members of your front of house left much to be desired.
I moved my room after 2 nights. I had booked it seperately. There where some issues, (one in particular) relating to Hygiene. I expressed my concerns which in fact ended in a confrontation. A simple solution would have been to offer a different room, given my concerns. I got a reluctant apology. They fixed the problem. However my point was they had no protocols in place regarding quality assurance before allocating a room with a badly smelling shower in the first place.
I have never in my life in any 5 star hotel had a problem booking one of their restaurants. I enquired this evening about booking a restaurant for tomorrow that was closed this evening. I was told (abruptly) that it couldn't be done I had to wait until tomorrow to book myself at the restaurant. Why can I ask could this not be done? What do you mean by VIP in your premium suites if a guest cannot be offered such a simple service in a courteous manner. The lady I asked was less than gracious and dismissive when I asked why not.
On a positive note I wish to thank the staff for assisting my in changing my airline booking. It was appreciated. Much of your systems however, seem geared to meet the needs of your hotel rather than service your guest. Your chairs at front of house for check in and guests inquires are not practical and in these Covid times can I ask how they are sanitised

I know it looks super amazing hotel, the rooms are spectacular it’s not my first time here but I got to say that the Managment is below average.
Check in & Corona measures: I had to wait for more the 30 min in the line for the check-in (no Corona measure) everyone is literally behind each other ! They don’t clean the chairs after the guest leave or the table of the check in for the next guest!
for the check in, was super long line, the representative take so long around 20-30 min to check in, for corona measures and also as a respect for the guest The Managment should ask the guest to stay in the lobby seated or the bar offering them a drink or something till the line get shorter but they didn’t do it, the Duty manager was in his office not even helping with the check in.
Spa: The lady asked if I would like to book in the spa I told her I will confirm when I’m in the room. Literally 10 min after I tried to call to confirm and they told me it’s fully booked (note that I booked a suites).
Room service: I asked for an empty glasses from the room service cause the glasses I have in the room is not clean she told me I have to pay 5 euros! WTF ? I paid xxxx for the suite and she want me to pay 5 euro for a replacement glasses? How cheap !!
Room & Suites: the fridge is not working it’s super warm! And just few days ago the room, suits looks absolutely gorgeous with the nice set of person use of shampoos, shower gel etc. This time they have a family bottle from Rituals! That’s not even in 3 star hotel do that ! That’s completely not hygiene not luxury and super disappointed to have this treatment just few days after the first time.
It was the second time I booked here but will NEVER DO !

What a wonderful 6* experience. Exceptional friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure we had personalised attention, always willing to help
The renovations are breathtaking with a mix of traditional and modern decor staying true to its cultural origins
I would particularly like to express my gratitude to Manuel Fresno who knowledge and expertise shone through and nothing was too much trouble for him. He treated all guests as individuals and his attention to detail has to be admired.
Highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back soon

Overall we did enjoy our stay, although found many issues in part that led to an average rating.
Firstly, you advertise online that there is a roof top pool, as well as an indoor pool. However, upon arrival, you learn that only the suite rooms have access to this. Also, you have to pay to use the indoor pool. This isn’t clear at all and is essentially false advertisement.
Secondly, there are nice touches when you go in the room (such as small chocolates and a bottle of water). However, any decent hotel we have stayed in, especially 5*, would replace this daily with fresh water once the cleaner has been. The same is true for the white company miniatures, we were given one tiny body lotion and one tiny conditioner, which wasn’t replaced at all, all week. If you pay for multiple nights, there should be replaced throughout the week.
Finally, it is impossible to get hold of the reception team. You call and often don’t get anyone answering the phone at all - just rings out. When we asked for ice, they said yes however no one ever came. On another occasion we reported a TV fault and, once again, no one arrived at all to the room to sort. Just seems like the reception team aren’t bothered to help you out.
The prices of the hotel are eye wateringly high for drinks. 4 euros for a small bottle of water, 4 euro 50 for a coke/Diet Coke. Compared with hotels in the area, even at the 5 star level, this is much higher.
On a positive note, a lot of the staff were great on the whole. Breakfast was also a great highlight - there was a lot of options. Overall I feel the hotel needs better management.

Visited Las Palmas for a four night city break. Stunning hotel and a peaceful location within a park. We opted for the deluxe double room with balcony. Would definitely recommend a room on the left side (facing south) or at the back of the hotel (facing west) if you want the sun for the majority of the day.
Bed was huge and very comfortable, great shower, bath, double sink and lots of storage space. We also asked for the mini bar to be emptied and for a yoga mat to be provided, both were completed quickly with no issues.
The service was great with all members of staff really friendly and helpful. Loved the breakfast, especially sitting outside in the morning sun. Great choice of hot and cold food.
The location of the hotel is very peaceful with the chirping of birds gently waking you on a morning. The grounds and surrounding park are beautiful and are lit up on an evening.
The best local restaurants are at the marina (via the underpass opposite the hotel) or in the old town. We used the no 1 bus to get up and down the island, it literally stops outside the hotel and runs every 10 mins. Costs €1.40 each. Would also recommend a visit to Playa de las Canteras. Impressive 2 mile beach for a walk, with lots of places to eat and with an indoor shopping centre.
If you are looking for a great hotel in Las Palmas this hotel is special and is definitely the best!

Positives:
Great service. Luxurious rooms. Beautiful park out the rear of the hotel and surrounding area. Staff are lovely and very helpful. The hotel overall is beautiful. Wellness centre and gym was amazing, the gym was free which was a lovely addition. The massage I received at the wellness centre was fantastic and the staff here are also lovely. The hotel provided my mother (who’s birthday it was) a bottle of champagne, card and desert in the room which was a nice thoughtful touch. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel. You are all amazing people!
Negatives:
We had to request to move rooms as we requested a room with a view which was not provided however the hotel staff were great in assisting us to move to another room. However this should’ve really been actioned before we checked in as I emailed a few times about this before arriving.
The room that we moved from (on the 4th floor) to the room on the first floor, was extremely noisy, this is not the hotels fault but I would advise anyone staying here to avoid the first floor. We had a nice view from our balcony of the entrance to the park however upstairs were moving furniture around from 1am onwards until around 7am every night/early morning which was extremely loud and annoying. The sound of breakfast being prepared from 6am or so is also quite loud within the room. Towards the end of our stay there was also a lot of noise in the hallway also. We noticed in the bathroom there was what looked like a small amount of vomit on the wall and metal wall hanging above the toilet and on the other wall adjacent to this. We only noticed it because of using the toilet everyday but still this was a bit gross. Also there was also a used opened bottle of water in the fridge. I appreciate however perhaps the hotel quickly cleaned this room to accommodate us moving into that room at late notice so this wasn’t overly an issue for us.
We didn’t have dinner here though and tried to eat and drink elsewhere as found it a bit too expensive, but I know that you are paying for the service and experience in this instance.
It was a bit unclear if the mini bar was charged for each item you used so we didn’t use this much but it is a nice touch.
Overall we had a great time and would definitely recommend this hotel and area to everyone.

We booked this hotel through British Airways flight + hotel for a week of winter sunshine before Christmas. We had booked a junior suite but when we checked in we were told the hotel was fully booked and there were no junior suites available. After a long journey I was not in the mood for an argument with the hotel manager but I think the reception staff must have seen my expression and very quickly said don’t worry we have booked you into a suite four levels above a junior suite. OK I thought let’s see what we are being offered. The room was on the 4th floor at the front of the hotel looking out across the gardens to the sea. Although the sea view was marred somewhat by the container port across the bay. The room itself was quite large and had a separate lounge area which gave us plenty of room. The bathroom was also large with separate bath tub and shower. My wife told me the bathroom toiletries were up-market quality, lost on me, but the shower gel and the softened water gave me a nice shower in the mornings. The staff were very friendly and helpful as you would expect from a quality hotel. Overall, this is a nice quality hotel but beware the cost of drinks and food. A club sandwich around the rooftop infinity pool will cost 20 euros. There is a pianist to entertain you every night and a very good male singer on Sunday evening. The wellness centre includes a well equipped gym, sauna, steam room and two good size pools. Treatments are available if you like that sort of thing.

Smart casual ….older clientele.
Enjoy- you’ll love it
The old town is much nicer with lots of restaurants that are not too expensive. I personally do not like Canteras beach area.
Hello not 100% sure but don’t need to pay a deposit at check in
