We had a lovely family weekend in Santander. Location is great, right next to the casino in front of the beaches in El Sardinero. We had room only as like to have breakfast in one of the neighbouring bars. Staff were excellent and very accommodating to our requests.
Just returned from a holiday to Santander staying at Hotel Hoyuela. Great hotel. Lovely room with doors opening on to street view and the sea. Breakfast was very good each morning. Staff very friendly and happy to store our golf clubs for us. Ate in the hotel one evening and the food good.
Old, unhealthy room environment which are smelly and you can feel that the AC is so old that the air you breath feels toxic. Carpet is at least 30 years old. Breakfast is horrible. Very noisy. You have to be desperate to stay there. I come to santander every 3 months, better to stay at Real.
Drove to the hotel from the Ferry. Roadworks in the road immediately in front of the hotel. Garage entrance is at the side - a bit tight for a big car. Parking is charged, think it was 13€. Hotel is near the seafront in a good position. Hotel has dark wood and furniture so it feels dated. Room was good, again dark furniture. Option to have continental or full breakfast. Don't remember if Wi fi was available in the room. Lovely walk along the promenade. Round the corner are cafes and restaurants
On arrival at hotel we were immediately met with roadworks right outside the entrance, diggers, drills and dust,so that’s the terrace unusable to start. Once inside it’s very dark and the 1st thing that strikes you is the all persuasive smell of mustiness and old people’s home which doesn’t disappear when you go to your room. Room again very dark, drab and depressing, Although it was very clean. The only saving grace is the bathroom, which is excellent. Breakfast was adequate, didn’t eat in the evening, went to an excellent tapas bar just around the corner. We stayed 2 nights which was 2 nights too long.
