A great little family run hotel only metres from the plaza mayor. It's tricky to find but the service is great. They have access to an enclosed carpark which is very handy for those with hire cars. It's quaint clean and excellent value for money.

I have stayed at Hostal Plaza Mayor several times going back to 15 years ago when I was a student in Spain. It continues to be a reliable choice and great value, even for this rather picky traveler! Be aware there are steps to enter this hotel: 3 or 4 up to the sidewalk, then another set of perhaps 8... More

We liked the room and bathroom very much, and the desk staff were helpful, We were not aware that there were 20 steps up from the street to the reception. The (one-person) staff were quick to assist with luggage, but there were still the 20 steps. Our double room had three windows, all looking on an ugly shaftway. I don't... More

Just yards from the Plaza Mayor, this hostal is well situated for visiting the Old City. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms good, with everything you need, except view and safe-box. Very good value.

The rooms are small but very well kept. The beds were very comfortable, bathrooms very clean, up-to-date and functioned perfectly. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And you can't beat the location - just steps from the most spectacular plaza in all of Spain!

Excellent value and location; steps from Plaza Mayor. Parking may be an issue if you have car; contact the hostal. Basic, but clean, a/c, refrig, wifi, tv. One issue is that conversations in the hall echoed up to the room

I had room 23 - super double bed with antique dark wood furniture and spotlessly clean double bed with en-suite shower. There is lift access to all floors, but stairs to main reception. The rooms facing the back are quietest, balcony rooms have best views but bring your ear plugs.

From this hostal to the main square in Salamanca, it's a one minute walk. All around the hotel, there are literally dozens of restaurants, bars and cafes. You couldn't wish for a better location. The rooms are somewhat spartan, but adequate for a one-night stay.

This isn't a fancy hostel - my room was basic, comfortable and very clean. In other words you have the essentials and that's it. However it is located at one of the entrances to Plaza Mayor - I don't think it could get any better! The cost was very reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful. What more could you... More

“We loved room 25 (it's the one in the picture on TA page) but not for the noise sensitive, so be prepared to sleep with balcony doors shut and take earplugs. Fantastic prospect though, and the balcony is a real bonus.”
