My favourite area in barcelona, close to the beach with a friendly nice hostess named Mercedes. The rooms are super clean, with ac and ensuite modern baths in all rooms. Reviewing a hostal room and not a hotel room i have to say that the rooms are comfortable too with comfortable good quality matresses , not very comfortable pillows though...

I recently traveled to over 7 European countries with friends and the Hostal Poblenou was one of my favorite places I stayed. The staff was extremely friendly and made Barcelona feel like home. We stayed in the Picasso room with 3 beds and the private bathroom across the hall. The room was big, clean and quite comfortable. We had access...

This B&B has fantastic character. Mercedes (owner) and all stuff working there are very friendly and always happy to help you and make your stay pleasureable. Breakfast on the terrace, tidy and very cosy rooms equiped in all what you need during your holiday (I was very surprised even by the fridge an microwave!). Free wifi and access to computer...

Hostal Poblenou is a lovely B&B in Poblenou, which is a bit outside Barcelona City Centre - but not farther than 10 minutes with the metro, or around 30 minutes by foot. Even though it's outside the centre of Barcelona, this is more than weighed up for by the lovely calm of Poblenou and the closeness to the beach. Staff...

The room was lovely, clean and had a balcony, the breakfast out on the terrace was great, staff very friendly and helpful, and I loved the location close to the beach and Rambla Poblenou, which is full of cafes, restaurants and shops.

Simply a great place to stay for a week in Barcelona. The location is perfect. Near the metro ( approx. 10 min to the City center) and close to the beach. Lots of small restaurants and cafés just round the corner. The owner (Mercedes) and her staff are doing a great job to make you feel at home and they...

I was in the Guinovart room (single), which was basic, but comfortable and included a bathroom and tea service. The hotel is located in a suburban area -Poblenou-, but only a couple of blocks away from the beach. The owner is really friendly and helpful, and I've heard her speak in several different languages. There is no lift, so it...

O.K., being new at the "Barcelona" scene, my wife and I (in our 60's) wanted to be close enough to the city center to bus or taxi easily, but also wanted out of the madness when it came time to relax. The Poblenou B&B ended up being just what we wanted. The area of Poblenou is in itself an interesting...

We spent six days in Barcelona and the downtown center was always jam-packed with people, it was good to go back to the hostel and be a little away from it all and get a good night's sleep. It was nice to be so close to the beach as well. Mercedes and the staff were wonderful, very welcoming, kind, and...

Staying in Poblenou

Neighbourhood Profile
Poblenou
The futuristic Agbar Tower stands out from Barcelona's skyline in Poblenou. It is no coincidence then that this area of town is the newly crowned technological park of the city, its own mini Silicon Valley containing a tech incubator (Barcelona Activa) as well as a host of local and international high tech companies. To accommodate the onrush of new residents and workers, the area of Poblenou has seen a surge of activity in new high-rise residential buildings and two top-notch shopping centres catering to everyone's need. The ambiance of this area is calmer than the city center and the beautifully relaxing Bogatell Beach, popular with locals, is just a handful of blocks away.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The house was built in 1930 and has been completely refurbished. We’ve kept all the original elements that give it that special character and style, for example the ceiling’s heights, the coloured mosaic floors, etc… but of course, we given special care to the fact that a good rest is essential. In this sense, the rooms are cosy, the beds comfortable, and we provide eiderdowns in winter months, and fresh cotton sheets for the summer ones. To transmit a feeling of harmony, light colours predominate in all our rooms. The rooms are equipped with television, air conditioning and heating. For those travelling with their laptops we provide Wi-Fi area, but if you just want to check your e-mail, we have a shared terminal with internet connection... everything with no extra charge. The house was built in 1930 and has been completely refurbished.
