Novotel Barcelona City is a budget hotel located just off the Avenue Diagonal in the Sant Marti section of Barcelona, Spain. The front desk staff is very pleasant and helpful, just inside the rotating entry door (use the rotating door, it saves energy by keeping the air-conditioned/heated air inside the hotel. Using the doors allows it to escape). There are 3 elevators that will be your first challenge. During peak times, it may take a while to get an elevator to your room floor. The elevators are small and require a key to access your floor. In the morning, during peak times - if you are on a lower floor, the elevator will stop and be full repeatedly. I would suggest that when this happens that you press both the UP AND down buttons and get on any elevator with space. This may be your only option to get to the lobby. It can get pretty bad. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. I like how they charge a flat rate for any item in the mini bar. The furnishings are dated but function well. The bed is my biggest complaint. The sheets are of poor quality with a cotton mix vs. full cotton sheets you find in better hotels. If you sleep 'hot' normally, expect to wake up in a pool of sweat- even though the air conditioning is good year-round! The pillows are terrible too. On a queen/king bed they supply two square useless pillows and two mini pillows. I am not sure what function the square pillows have, and the mini pillows are comfortable enough but why do they have to be so small? The bathroom is well lit, and this hotel finally provides pump type toiletry items (shampoo, body wash, hand wash) instead of single use ones. This is a really nice change. TIP - if you do not want sewer smell coming up through your sink drain, close the stopper and keep some water in the basin. It can get bad. The rooftop amenities are very nice, especially in the warmer weather. This hotel advertises as a 4-star hotel on Google Maps. This is NOT a 4-star hotel by any stretch. I will be rating this hotel with 3-stars, based on their 4-star claim. Had they listed as a 3-star hotel I would have rated them at 4-stars.

The room was great (and HUGE, thanks to a free upgrade!). It was just a bit smelly, I couldn't spot the reason. But I was able to work in the evening with a great view over the city and the park below. Breakfast was good, too - with a lot of options to choose from. Only issue here was that there was so much great uncut bread available, but nobody (me included) was brave enough to really take and cut all that good stuff. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay.

This was the worse place you can stay for Barcelona break. the rooms are very very small, between bed and wall there is only space for hand language space. We arrived just before 11 am. We have paid extra for city view. We were told we could get in to the room in the next 30 to 45 minute. However when I asked if we getting what we booked for they humbled and another staff member came and they said the check-in in 2pm and we had to wait. despite rooms available they made us wait until 2pm and dead on 2pm they said room ready we had to wait 3 and half hours at the reception. the rooms are very tiny I would not recommend for anyone more then 2 in the room. Its February and the weather is not very warm but we had to open windows as the air condition wasn't working well it was very warm at the room. its 20 minute to the center by taxi with traffic can be 30 to 35 minute. Breakfast is not bad for for 4 star I would say is very poor. Roof Top is stink of food cooking smell inside and outside is open top very cold at nights. The staff aren't the helpful if you need any help. Waste the money for this hotel, rather stay at 1 star hotel at the center of Barcelona.

Quiet rooms, very clean, very good location, good service. Unfortunately for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) the queen size bed and a pullout sofa isn't great for comfort. Check in was a little disorganized, we arrived early from our international flight, and even after the published check in time our room was not ready. The restaurant attached has a fantastic breakfast. Did not have lunch or dinner.

Good breakfast, nice hotel. The staff is super friendly. The room keys stop working if you place them near your phone, a bit inconvenient, but not terrible. The restaurant on the premise is also quite nice. There is also a food market nearby.

Excellent hotel for a short layover in Barcelona. Clean, quiet 🤫. The breakfast in the morning is very very good. The rooftop pool bar is opened until midnight. The front desk personnel is very kind and hospitable. This is a hotel I would not hesitate to come back.

If you wish to ruin your vacation stay at that hotel. If you want to feel unwelcomed stay at that hotel. If you want to be fooled paying more money, stay at that hotel. Not recommended for Arabs and Muslims especially. It wasn't good at all, reception team is so irogant. It wasn't special at all, they ruined my vacation. The reception team up to the manager of the hotel are irogant and not professional at all. they only care about money and how they would charge you more than required. They charged me city tax for 3 adults and we were only 2 adults and 2 kids and 1 infant under 2 years, after I discovered this wrong calculation they paid it back to us. They forced me to purchase another room for having one more infant less than 2 years and I told them that I had the same setup and same family members during my stay in Istanbul and Rome but they forced me to purchase another room or to search for another hotel, I believe they treated us this way because we are Muslims and Arab, for other guests of other nationalities they are smiling and welcoming them all the way. restaurant staff is so unwelcoming and again I believe it is because we are Arab and Muslims .I will never visit it again. If you wish to ruin your vacation stay at that hotel. If you want to feel unwelcomed stay at that hotel. If you want to be fooled paying more money, stay at that hotel. Stayed from 20/11/2023 to 25/11/2023

We stayed three nights on our first trip to Barcelona. The location was good - Westfield across the road for cafes and restaurants and the tram and bus network also just outside. A few minutes walk away is a stop for the City Tour hop on, hop off bus. Breakfast was excellent and staff friendly. Improvements, in my opinion, which could be made: - the mattress was solid and not very comfortable; - the room service menu was very limited All in all, a great stay and we would return.

This is an awful hotel. Poor service! The staff does not have empathy and should be trained for customer service. The room service and customer service is awful. I have been staying here everytime I travel to barcelona for business and the service is getting worse everytime! First, I have to keep my keycard fixed! For some reasons, their key card system is broken! Second, the house keeping is pretty late, they sometimes would finish cleaning my room at 3 or 4 pm! 3rd, I requested towels since the housekeeping did not leave any and it took them more than an hour to provide it, it was almost midnight coming from a long day! No empathy from the reception and the staff who supposed to give me my towels!
