Booked 3 night stay here in November before going on a cruise. We had a room at the back with an ensuite, as we had a big time difference we didn't want to disturb anyone. The location was in the heart of the Born district close to great tapas bars and restaurants. Breakfast is fresh fruit, bread or toast, cheese,...

We booked this place because of the great review and it's central location and were not disappointed. It is not your typical accomodation as it is a large appartement with several bedrooms and a shared kitchen and breakfast room. This fact however creates the homey feeling that will make your stay in Barcelona even more special. The breakfast consists of...

My wife and step son have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Casa Marcelo and cannot recommend it enough. It was very clean , chic and both modern and classical in style in a 19th Century building we were told was part of a former palace. The room my wife and I shared was spacious, and the...

We recently stayed at Casa Marcelo is a magical Born District. Beautifully kept, clean, warm and welcoming staff, quiet, delicious breakfast, and the perfect location. I cannot recommend this quaint gem of a B&B more! Make sure to also check out Cal Pep across the street for the best Tapas in Barcelona (IMO)!!

From the thorough trip assistance, to the friendly service and impeccably clean and charming rooms, we could not have been happier with our stay in this beautiful B&B in the beautiful Born District. Our stay was in room 3, and we had 5 relaxing nights. I would recommend this location again and again. But really what made the difference were...

We had the best weekend at Casa Marcelo! The location, the casa, and our hosts were everything we could have hoped for! The Casa is as delightful as it looks on the pictures!( Marcelo!) We had a celebration weekend with our children and rented all the rooms! Were greeted by Olivier who explained all the ins and outs and gave...

We recently spent six nights in the balcony room at Casa Marcelo. We loved the location and cleanliness of this B&B. The hosts, Olivier and Marcelo are friendly and very helpful. We recommend Casa Marcelo to others traveling to Barcelona.

What a comfortable and welcoming home in Barcelona. Olivier and Marcelo go above and beyond to help their guests enjoy their visit. Our room was serenely and beautifully decorated with a soaring ceiling, sparking chandelier, pretty curtains, white furniture, a convenient closet, clean crisp linens and good lighting. Our small bathroom was ingeniously designed with good lighting, hooks for towels,...

Stayed 4 nights at the balcony room with en suite bathroom that opens up to the common dining hall. Pros: 1. The property is in the 2nd floor of an unmarked building in the lively El Born neighborhood near the beach, with plenty of tapas bars (including the popular Cal Pep) and small retail shops in every corner. There is...

We chose Casa Marcelo based on its high rating on Tripadvisor. So glad we did even if we couldn’t stay for the entire time that we were in Barcelona and had to move accommodations. We stayed in the smaller of the only 2 rooms with a private bathroom and it faced a side street and without a balcony so it...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
