Spent 2 nights here at the end of August, it is ideally situated and very comfortable. Olivier could not have been more helpful. He spent a lot of time with us on our arrival, sharing his local knowledge to ensure that we made the most of our limited time in respect of places to visit and eat. I would thoroughly... More

Arriving at Casa Marcelo was no easy feat owing to the distinct lack of signage. After finally working out that the unmarked timber door was indeed where we were staying, we were promptly met by the owner himself, although after carrying our bags ourselves (my arm was wrapped in a bandage owing to a broken wrist) we started to realise... Gorgeous, historic building on a lovely, car-less street in historic quarter, just across plaza from excellent tapas and within walking distance of major sights. Managers and staff were lovely and attentive. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you!

I stayed at Casa Marcelo for two days in May 2016. The location is excellent if you want to be located centrally in Barcelona. The Gothic Quarter is beautiful but of course very touristy. Good restaurants everywhere and lots of shops. My stay was in Room 1, which was well maintained and perfectly clean, but a little small and dark,... More

We arrived for a weekend stay and were very happy with Casa Marcelo, it is exactly the same as described in the reviews - very authentic, spotless, classic high ceilinged rooms, yummy breakfast and superb hosting. Oliver met us at the door and showed us around. The next morning he spent at least 30mins with us and the map discussing... More

We only stayed there for one night but it was really nice. Wonderful apartment with brand new kitchen, very clean bathroom and a cozy room with nice little details like bathrobes in the cupboard. The host was very courteous, helpful und nice. Seems like a brand new apartment with the charm of an old building, tastefully furnished, a good breakfast... More

We stayed for one week at casa marcelo and it was absolutly amazing. The apartment is located in the barri gotic, which is a perfect starting point for every sightseeing tour. The owner stays for perfect service. At 9 am you'll get a breakfast with bread, marmelade, orange juice and sooo many fruits. If you'll have any questions he will... More

We visited casa marcello as part of a family holiday in Spain. The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Marcello (the owner) and the other staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, just on the edge of the gothic quarter with some lovely bars and restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend to couples / families wanting to... More

My friend and I stayed at Casa Marcelo for 3 nights. We were very impressed - Marcelo was there to greet us after our late flight and he took the time to show us around the apartment and explain everything we needed to know, as well as give us an overview of the local area and things to do. The... More

Marcelo, who is the owner, was really nice and welcoming. The place was beautiful with high ceilings and chandeliers. The rooms where very clean. There was no aircon, but they had a cooling fan. The breakfast was simple, but satisfactory. All in all we had a really nice stay, and we would definitely recommend it.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
