We started our honeymoon at Casa de Marcelo and had an excellent time. The house is impecably styled and was a pleasure to relax in. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the balcony and were surprised by a bottle of cava and cherries which had been left in our room - Marcelo had even added a personalised label to the...

What a fabulous place Marcelo has! He and his staff made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in the door. Each room is beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches that make your stay that much nicer. I had an interior room which I found to be quite quiet, the sharing of the bathrooms (beautifully done as well)...

Casa de Marcelo is perfect, and I will always stay here when in Barcelona. The rooms were spacious, the staff was extremely helpful, breakfast was delicious, and the LOCATION was ideal. I stayed in an interior room (which was perfect and lovely) since I was traveling alone, but I will request a room with a balcony if I return with...

We have stayed 3 days in this apartment. There are five rooms. Two of them has their own bath and other three shares one bath and one toilet. Breakfast is served in dining room and there is balcony for two. You may use a shared kitchen as well. We were lucky as only two rooms were occupied during our stay....

This place is very comfortable. The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet despite the proximity to great restaurants on the street level. The staff are welcoming and work very hard to please you. Finally, the space is incredibly clean.

My fiance and I stayed 4 nights at Casa de Marcelo in Room 1. We arrived at 10am, Marcelo greeted us, took our luggage, gave us maps and advised us of the hotspots in Barcelona for there is loads to see. Surrounding are vast amount of restaurants and boutique shops and the Picasso Museum is pretty much next door. La...

The Casa de Marcelo is not easy to find - no one in the neighborhood seemed to know what I was talking about and you really have to look to find the building and the listing at the door. The area however, was great - easy walking to the beach, all through the old town and convenient to many restaurants....

We stayed at Casa de Marcelo (room 4) from July 15th till July 19th and we absolutely loved it! On the day of arrival we were warmly received by Olivier with cold water and cherries. He'd informed us well about the city. Our room was bright, spacious and tastefully decorated. We didn't experience any noise troubles. With an immaculate shared...

A genuine find I would recommend to anyone. The location is ideal within walking distance to good food, the beach, and shopping. High quality linens and clean bathroom. Marcelo also took us, upon request, to the Barcelona flea market. Extremely helpful and kind staff.

On the strength of the friendly and accomodating staff alone, I will highly recommend the Casa. The balcony room does not work for those who cannot sleep with some noise as it faces the streets below. We had no such problem having stayed in room 3 and 4, but the guest in the balcony room had trouble sleeping. I would...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
