The Kimpton Vividora Hotel garners compliments for its friendly and professional staff, though the rooftop bar service sometimes lags. Nestled in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, its prime location is a hit with travelers, despite occasional vehicle access issues. Guests enjoy the stylish and clean rooms, albeit small and occasionally noisy, and appreciate the luxurious yet cozy atmosphere enhanced by social hours.
The hotel's cleanliness is consistently praised, as is the range of amenities, including the showers and coffee. However, some guests feel the value doesn't quite match the cost.

I stayed in this hotel very recently and it was beautiful. Check in staff were super friendly and professional and even gave us welcome champagne which was a great touch!!
We managed to get a free early check in too. I am an IHG employee and when I got to my room I had a platter of cheese and local meats, alongside some beers as a ‘welcome to a fellow colleague’. This was super thoughtful from the staff.
The rooms are great and have an amazing shower and coffee pods that get topped up daily. Bed was super comfy and the room was visited by housekeeping during the evening to tidy up room and leave chocolates on the bed (which tasted amazing)
As it is a Kimpton, it has a ‘social hour’ where free wine is served at the bar for an hour. This also applies to soft drinks which was ideal as my mum does not drink wine.
The rooftop bar also had great views, however, I felt that sometimes the service could have been a bit faster. We also had the brunch set menu and it took over 50 mins for our starters to be served and they were stone cold. The mains then came out after 1 hour 30 mins and they were also very cold, not very nice, and they were also different dishes from what we ordered. As the brunch menu is fairly expensive I would recommend staying away from it as it isn’t great value for money. That being said, tapas was good and drinks were great. Our only downside to this hotel was the brunch experience but this can be easily avoided by visiting local restaraunts and bodegas.
Very good experience and would love to visit again.

Dear Alex, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you had such a positive stay and that our team made you feel welcomed – it’s always a pleasure to host fellow IHG colleagues! It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the little touches, from the welcome champagne to the thoughtful amenities in your room. We're also thrilled that you appreciated the comfort of our rooms. The social hour is something we love offering, and we're glad it was enjoyable for both you and your mum. We sincerely apologize, however, for the delay and quality of the brunch service. This certainly does not reflect the high standards we aim to provide, and we appreciate your honest feedback. Please know that we will review this with our team to ensure improvements are made. Your insight is invaluable in helping us enhance our guest experience. We're grateful for your kind words despite this and are so pleased to hear that you'd love to visit us again. We’ll be ready to welcome you back and ensure your next stay is even more memorable. Kindest regards, The Kimpton Vividora team

This is an excellent hotel and the pros far outweigh the cons. We had a great stay here and would return.
Pros: - Staff are very friendly, willing to answer any questions and go the extra mile, you are given a welcome champagne on arrival which is a nice touch. - We were able to get early check-in (at 1PM) which was amazing - I would recommend trying to see if your room is ready, as it was worth it. - The bedrooms are lovely, spacious and clean. Shower was AMAZING, you also get use of the coffee machine, and water supplied daily included. - The social hour was a nice touch, and the reception/bar area is cozy and very stylish. - There is a turn down service at night and a chocolate is left on your pillow - You are able to rent bikes, skateboards, and surfboards free of charge. - The rooftop bar has amazing views.
Cons - Beware the minibar is quite expensive! - We went for brunch on the rooftop bar. We waited for around an hour for food, and the food which arrived was cold, and almost inedible. Given this cost 34 euros per person we would have expected better.

Dear Josh, Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your recent stay with us. We're happy to hear that so many aspects of your visit left a positive impression – from the warm welcome with champagne to the social hour. That said, I’m truly sorry to hear about your brunch experience at the rooftop bar. Waiting that long for cold food is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and I completely understand your disappointment, especially given the cost. Please rest assured that we’re addressing this with our team to ensure we improve the service and food quality moving forward. Your feedback helps us grow, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Despite this, we’re so pleased that the rest of your stay was enjoyable, and we’d love the opportunity to welcome you back for an even better experience next time. If you decide to visit again, please feel free to reach out – we’d love to ensure your next stay is seamless. Best regards, The Kimpton Vividora team

The Kimpton Hotel Vividora is a stylish hotel in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter that offers a great location a few blocks from from La Rambla, museums, and historic sites. It has a chic decor, excellent breakfast, and attentive service. But the tiny rooms and gym make the normal rates (over $500 a night) way too high and I wouldn't book here without a discount. Also, it’s worth requesting a room away from the elevator to avoid noise. At a discount rate, it's a great choice for exploring the city.

The main reason we booked this hotel was its location right in the heart of the Gothic Old Town of Barcelona and near Las Ramblas. The hotel lobby was pleasant, but our expensive room, which featured a long balcony furnished with two small chairs and a table, was quite small. I can only imagine how much smaller the less expensive rooms without balconies must be. This was one of the top rooms in the hotel.
The bathroom had an open-concept design with a large tub (which we did not use), a sink, and small separate glass stalls for the shower and toilet. It lacked privacy. Additionally, the desk with a few shallow drawers and a two-foot-wide hanger served as our closet. Thank goodness we are light packers. There was barely enough room to place our two small carry-on suitcases. I understand that buildings in the old section of any European city will be smaller, but the design does not take into account that most travelers want to unpack their suitcases for a 4 day stay. We are used to living out of our suitcases, so it wasn't too bad for us. Maybe utilize the walls better to create more shelving. Just a thought.
Despite these unconventional design choices, the room was nice. It did not meet the high Kimpton hotel standards we are accustomed to, but it was clean, and we still enjoyed the view from the balcony and the hotel's prime location.

I had a pretty disappointing experience at the Kimpton in Barcelona. The positives: friendly staff, great location.
However, we had booked this as part of Chase Edit, which offers a few perks to cardholders. One perk includes "$100 property credit (once during stay, not valid on room rate, taxes, fees or gratuities)." This was not applied to our stay - I had to explain to the team when I was checking out that this was supposed to be applied. They then retroactively claimed it was only available for food and beverage - not on the spa treatment we had booked. They claim this was explained to me on a letter they gave me - but they never gave me a letter upon check-in.
(The spa treatment, by the way, was a bit sketchy - hosted in an unused hotel room with no lobby.)
To add, we were booked in a room next to a staircase that was loud all night long - to the point where we needed earplugs to sleep. When I brought this up to the team, they claimed (falsely) that these stairs were "rarely used." Our room also had a faulty toilet lid that was clearly installed improperly and clicked all night. We had to put weights on top of it to stop the noise. When I asked someone at the front desk to have it fixed, they said they would send someone up (and never did).
Also, on our first night in Barcelona, we asked the concierge for a restaurant recommendation - they claimed to know great locations that weren't tourist traps. They sent us to an incredibly mediocre and overpriced tapas restaurant (think $120 for two people when we went to plenty of tapas places of higher quality during our trip that were closer to $60.)
Super disappointing for a 5-star hotel - and put a damper on our honeymoon.

Dear Kristin, First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us, and congratulations on your recent honeymoon. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our team’s hospitality and central location. Regarding the $100 credit, we apologize if there was any confusion about its application. The 100$ (90€) credit does indeed apply to food and beverage purchases only, as outlined in our welcome letter, and we are so sorry if this wasn’t made clear during your stay. We also regret any disturbance caused by the noise near your room and wish we had been aware sooner, as it would have been my pleasure to offer you a quieter room for the rest of the stay. About out wellness room, it is designed as a tranquil space dedicated to massage treatments, and we continuously strive to create a calming experience for all our guests. We apologize if it didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate the chance to improve. We hope to welcome you back for a truly flawless experience. Thank you again for your valuable feedback—it genuinely helps us serve our guests better. Warm regards, The Kimpton Vividora Team

We stayed 4 nights and as general data is a super small hotel. The staff is very unfriendly, one of the receptionists does not even speak Spanish; which I must say I was quite surprised since we were in Spain. Housekeeping starts knocking on doors from 8 am for cleaning service, i.e. no sleep leaves you and in my room there was no do not disturb card, plus the first nights the TV did not work. We also saw cockroaches in the lobby and on the stairs (attached evidence) an overrated hotel and that zero met our expectations

I always prefer to write my reviews in English because it's a lingua franca, but, since I was in Barcelona and am a Spanish speaker, I will do it in Spanish: This has been one of the most beautiful trips of my life, thanks to the incredible gastronomy, cocktails, charisma, amazing culture, and historic sites of Barcelona. Kimpton Vividora played a very important role. The hotel is located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, within walking distance of EVERYTHING worth visiting in Barcelona.
We stayed on June 24, 2024 (we work at another IHG property in case you like to identify us). I must say that the most amazing thing about our stay, besides the beautiful city, the incomparable location , and the most comfortable bed/shower most spectacular of Kimpton Vividora, was its staff.
They made us feel at home, and spoiled and indulged us in split seconds with the best service and amenities.
As a marketer in London, I can say that they truly live up to the promise of the Kimpton brand: to create an environment that combines comfort and luxury with a homey atmosphere, offering personalized service that makes every stay memorable.
This has been one of my favorite hotels in all of IHG. To all the staff: thank you for making us feel at home! 😊🙏🏻
Although the city is full of hospitable and friendly people, the staff at Kimpton Vividora was by far the warmest and most attentive, striving to ensure our stay was the most pleasant.
I very much regret that I didn’t try harder to remember anyone’s names because their service was worth mentioning, especially now that I want to mention them all while writing this review. But here go some thanks
The front desk gentleman for allowing us a late check-out when it was not possible and for helping us with our key problems, as well as asking another kind gentleman to accompany us to our room to make sure the keys worked.
The housekeeping lady who got me a converter for my charger, even though I was just asking where I could get one.
Housekeeping in general because it allowed us to return each night to a cool and fully stocked room (with the most delicious chocolates).
The lady behind the bar on the ground floor, who made us such a delicious coffee that we came back the next day for two more each. A coffee in each hand, a balanced breakfast 😉
To the gentleman and lady of the rooftop bar and pool, for welcoming us to an empty pool, and offering us towels and ashtrays.
The gentleman behind the bar on the ground floor who loaned me a bucket of ice after I hurt my foot.
The guest relations gentleman who brought me toothpaste in the night in less than 30 seconds. When I couldn't find mine.
The maintenance gentleman who taught us how to use air conditioning.
Your manager can rest easy, whether you are present or not, because everyone is doing a fantastic job and you should feel very proud of the service they are providing.
We didn't want to leave and we regretted not staying longer. But we are already planning to return before the end of the year and cannot wait to return to our home in Kimpton Vividora. See you soon! :)

My wife and I stayed for four nights in early October and were amazed at the generous hospitality we received. I have traveled for business all over the US, Canada and Mexico at many five-star hotels but have never had the type of service I received from the entire Kimpton Vivadora Staff. Upon our Sunday arrival, we were greeted by Eduardo, and he took our luggage as we checked-in. He made sure that the room was ready with water and coffee and explained the Hotel Happy Hour at 6:30 PM but the Rooftop Bar was still serving brunch. We went to the Bar and had a very nice Champagne Brunch with amazing views of the Gothic District. At the Bar, Anna and The Bartender (sorry, I forgot his name) were beyond exceptional.
Since we arrived on Sunday, The Boqueria Market was closed so Eduardo recommended 7 Portes for Paella and he nailed it! We had an amazing meal and then asked for a Churro recommendation, and he sent us to Granjala Pallaresa that was about three-minute walk from Hotel and he nailed it again!
Often overlooked but as important, is the Housekeeping Staff at the Hotel. They were remarkable and made sure the room was clean and we had all we needed for our stay. Marie and the 2nd Floor Staff (too many to call out by name) welcomed us everytime we saw each other and made sure our room had all the personal amenities were well stocked.
The only downside was we only had four days in Barcelona, and we wish we could have stayed another week. One of the best Hotels I have ever stayed, and the service was even better. The Hotel is amazing and the location at Gothic District makes walking the City the easiest and most convenient way to see Barcelona.

Overall a good hotel. However considering 5 star expectations, the hotel is only 4 out of 5 and not excellent due to below:
Rooms: The standard room is small. You can barely find a place for the luggage. Otherwise the room had everything you need.
Food: we only had lunch and snacks at pool and they are good but not something special. Prices are fair.
Drinks: they can make any drink/cocktail you want and prices are around 12-16 euros. However they are so slow and we had to wait quite long for drinks at the rooftop bar.
Rooftop pool: really nice view from there. The pool is tiny and only 80 cm deep so the pool and the area around (6 sunbeds) is small and initimite. This suits the pool area quite good as the atmosphere is cosy and chill however we experienced several children and adults!!!playing in the pool and splashing water around with a ball. It would suit the hotel to make rules for the pool to keep it nice and relaxing as there are not enough space for that kind of activity. Or make it adults only…
Noise: we did not experience noise from other guests in nearby rooms or from the street, but instead from hotel employees. They are very noisy around their storage rooms which was unfortunately for us, was located next to our room. We woke up early in the morning because of that.
Location: good and close to everything.
So overall good hotel with minor negative things, and considering the price against other five star hotels in Barcelona, this is what you get.

We didn't at that particular hotel as we left right after breakfast but should be no problem. In fact, never had a problem anywhere in Spain or Mallorca in having a hotel store your luggage until you retreive them hours later.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
