El Avenida Palace is celebrated for its prime location, granting guests effortless access to nearby attractions and a myriad of dining options. The elegant atmosphere within the hotel receives high marks for its grandeur, making guests feel like royalty, while the rooftop pool, though small, is a treasured addition. Cleanliness is a standout attribute, with travelers commending the pristine condition of rooms and bathrooms.
However, opinions on the rooms are divided; guests appreciate their spaciousness but remark on temperature control issues and a need for updates. While the staff's service is generally lauded, some guests have encountered occasional lapses in attentiveness. Despite the positives, there are concerns regarding the value for money, with some guests feeling the hotel's offerings do not justify the cost.

Detailed Reviews
We booked here with high hopes via AMEX.
Reviews were good as were photos.
We stayed for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year.
We booked adjoining rooms as we were traveling with our college-aged children.
When we arrived, the lobby was spectacular and the front desk helpful.
This place is a grand dame of a hotel. Lots of marble and elaborate embellishments throughout first floor. Lots of history.
Our rooms were something less than stellar. Tired. Old. Definitely not up to the standards of the lobby.
You could tell they’re beginning to update, however. The bathrooms were newly refurbished and done very well.
But things in the room were subpar. I room safes were antiquated. And inoperable.
Only 1 power outlet per room that was easily accessible.
One frustrating issue was the lack of water. Housekeeping delivers 2 tiny bottles per room. We called asking for more. Front desk staff told us, “if we gave more free water to 1 guest, we’d have to give more to all.” That kind of response earned them a less than pleasant visit from me to the front desk.
As a guest spending more than $4k I’d expect way better service than that.
On a positive note the location was excellent.
However I cannot recommend to anyone.
There are better options nearby.

A very elegant hotel with some of the best views in Barcelona from their terrace. The hotel is fantastically located next to Passeig de Gracia and Plaça Catalunya. The team were very friendly and provided all the necessary information required. Room service is available in the evenings (during the pandemic) and it's also possible to order in food from surrounding restaurants to be delivered to the hotel. The hotel seemed to be very clean, and it was nice to see various guests in and out, felt nice to be in a 'normal' situation within a hotel. breakfast was limited but very tasty, and well managed.

My friends Don Balbino and his lovely wife had a superb time at the Hotel. After spending an evening in theatre, the 2 minute walk to this location was perfect for them. They stayed in the Sagrada Suite and enjoyed the perfect view of Gaudi's magnificent legacy whilst eating their breakfast on the balcony.

Great location for walking to so many sites! Staff was outstanding! They were very helpful, speaking English, to make recommendations and reservations. Breakfast was excellent. They took our skis off our bus, stored them and returned them to our bus when we left. Room and bed were comfortable. Bathroom was great, rain shower head along with hand held shower head. Room was a little too warm so we had to open the window. Fortunately, it was on the quiet courtyard side. Beautiful rooftop views!! Highly recommend!

We had the family suite on the top floor with access to the pool.
The main bathroom door was broken and didn't close. The hotel knew about this when the room was rented but it was rented anyway. They offered us 2 twin rooms instead but we decided to stay as we had just arrived after a long journey and had already unpacked. We also booked the room to have access to the pool so we used the toilet to change in when we needed privacy.
Unfortunately on the doors to the pool there was an large, old, dried streak of bird pooh which was very unsightly and looked like it had been there a long time.
The shower basin had a large crack in that had a very unsightly repair done. It looked like a cheap, quick repair done in the wrong colour (white) so it stood out against the black tile.
The top terrace wasn't cleaned very often. We went there twice and each time had to clean our own table of empty glasses etc.
We were a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children (16 and 12 years old). When we arrived there was only a double bed and a sofa bed for the 16 year old. Again I went down to reception and they told me that the child usually sleeps in the parents bed! I said that this was not mentioned at all when booking the room and that my wife and I did not wish to share a bed with my 12 year old son, especially after paying 347 euros for the room. So they installed a camper bed for him.
We paid a lot for the room and there were many cheaper options in Barcelona and in the hotel itself so I was very disappointed and sad that my family noticed and commented on all these defects. I really expected better for this price.

Primarily booked this hotel due to connecting rooms, as I traveled with a family of 4. Our rooms were on the 5th floor and were a good size, beds were comfortable, both bathrooms had double sinks and nice amenities. Each room had two twin beds, which was convenient since you could move the beds apart. I wish the air conditioning could go down colder than 18-19 Celsius, specifically for nighttime sleeping. Otherwise, it's in a great location, close to the metro and shops. I had purchased the room + breakfast package. The buffet breakfast was 7:30-10:00 and includes hot and cold items. Be forewarned, we woke up late the first morning (due to jetlag) and arrived 30 minutes before closing time, and it was slim pickings for hot items, i.e., no scrambled eggs or bacon. The only hot items available were one piece of spanish omelet and some vegetables. That being said, I was not a fan of their bacon, which is not crispy at all. Guess that's an American preference...Good assortment of cold cuts and breads, along with full complement of juices, coffee, etc. Overall, if I had to nitpick, the biggest negative of the hotel is that you have to leave your room key with the front desk whenever you head out, and pick it up when you get back in. They use a special key that has to be physically inserted into the lock, vs. the standard card reader. The key is attached to a large cone shaped charm so that you don't lose it. It was inconvenient at times to have to wait to pick up your key when the front desk folks were busy helping other guests. It would be preferable to come and go as you please. To me, a card reader would not detract from the hotel's old world charm. One room's key did not work very well, so we primarily used the other room's key to enter the connecting rooms. I would definitely stay here again, the connecting rooms and location are winners in my book.

Lovely grand old hotel in a brilliant location – right by Passeig de Garcia metro station, 5 mins walk to Placa Catalunya, less than 10 mins to Casa Batlo and La Pedrera.
We had the family (familiar) room, which is actually 2 interconnecting rooms and incredibly good value. Rooms 603/605 - both had twin beds (pushed together) and room 603 had bath and small separate shower, while 605 had large shower (no bath) which was perfect for us.
Views from the room were great and we didn't hear any noise from other rooms. Rooms were clean and cleaned regularly. Furniture is slightly old but part of the hotel's charm.
Only complaint (and why I have given hotel 4 and not 5 stars) is that the beds in our rooms felt very flimsy – metal bed frames that creaked every time you moved, and one in my son's room that if you sat on it, it tipped up at one end!
Staff were very friendly and really helpful. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, and instead went to the 9th floor cafe at El Cortes Ingles department store which I recommend.
Pool was being refurbished when we were there but we went to the roof and the view is well worth seeing.

It was a weekend with my wife and another couple. Brilliant location just off Place De Catalunya, perfect for the shops and La Ramblas.
Decor at reception was slightly dated but not offensive and room was a decent size with an excellent bathroom, which had been recently updated. Great walk-in shower with brilliant pressure, my wife would have liked a bath but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment of the weekend.
Slept really well and beds were comfortable, although we would have preferred a double bed to having 2 singles pushed together.
Roof terrace offered amazing views of the city and offered a very small pool, perfect for cooling off but too small to swim in, probably.
The only negative of the whole place is that we specifically booked a hotel with a bar so we could chill there after dinner and bizarrely the El Avienda Bar closes at 11pm. With the trend in Barcelona being to eat late into the evening we were really disappointed not to be able to access the bar.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Would we stay here again? Maybe, because of the location, but the bar issue would definitely be a factor in our decision and I suspect we would choose elsewhere, which is a shame because otherwise it was fairly faultless.

Wow what a, hotel central location close to everthing. Rooms spotless clean and large.. Good bathrooms.. We had one small issue whilst we were there but once the day manager Zornitsa Atanasova got involved it was resolved instantly thanks you Zornitsa for making our stay 100% perfect..
The hotel lobby is stunning very art deco . Taxis were arranged for us in a instant... The breakfast is top class comprising of confectionery... Cold meats.. Cheese.. Cerial.. Fresh fruits.. And four different hot items.. Sausage.. Bacon.. Scrambled eggs.. Mushrooms some items changed daily very good value..
Roof top pool heated we swam in late November it was very good to have as well as a seating area and stunning views over the city day and night .. Must be fab in the summer with the bar open.
On the whole I would reccomend to stay here to anyone.. Couples.. Family's and all ages will appreciate it.
Tip.. If you can stretch get the superior city view room it's well worth it and get floors 8 or 9

The distance between the Aerobus station in Barcelona and Hotel El Avenida Palace can vary depending on which Aerobus station you are referring to, as there are multiple Aerobus stops in the city. However, as a general reference:
The Aerobus service in Barcelona typically has two main routes, Aerobus A1 and Aerobus A2, that connect the airport to the city center. The most common Aerobus stop in the city center is Plaça de Catalunya.
Hotel El Avenida Palace is located near Plaça de Catalunya in the city center of Barcelona. Therefore, the distance between Plaça de Catalunya (where you can catch the Aerobus) and Hotel El Avenida Palace should be relatively short ( a few meters )
