We really enjoyed our stay at Barcelona Universal. Hotel staff are all lovely and very helpful. Excellent breakfast with so much to chose from. Bar serves lovely cocktails, beer tasting 6-7 and 50% off beer 7-8. Fantastic location and 10 minute walk to la Rambla or taxi is only €7. You won't be disappointed if you book here! Would not...

We found the Barcelona Universal before we left Canada online, and not being to Barcelona before took a chance. We were pleasantly surprised the rooms are very modern, washroom very nice with a deep tub. Location is great a nice 15 minute walk to the Gothic area, and so much more. 10 minutes to the hop on hop of bus...

Just spent five days on Barcelona Universal Hotel. The room came with nice amenities incl. a very big bathroom. Both seemed to have been completely updated recently. The breakfast was very good and thus very recommendable.

This is a really nice hotel. Very good breakfast. The rooms are clean and modern. The staff are the best feature, nothing is too much trouble for them. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because the room we were in had no natural sunlight and the window overlooked a quad which was being repaired. It's a...

I told the female desk clerk that I wanted a "quiet" room, and specified not near an elevator. She gave me a room on the 4th floor just across from the elevator and across from the maid's room. I went back and asked for another room. She wanted to give me the room next to the first one. Luckily a...

I stayed here last week, hotel is beautiful and in a great location with a metro right outside and a small shop nearby incase you forget to pack something like I did! (Toothbrush) First we were put on the 3rd floor in a large interior room. After travelling for several hours we decided to have a quick rest before heading...

I am really fussy when it comes to accommodation, but there was no need to panic. This hotel is superb. The rooms are clean, spacious and we had a balcony which was an added bonus. The beds were comfy and the pillows were soft, we all slept well. The staff could not do enough for us and were so friendly....

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
