Perfect, perfect location. Clean & the staff were great, especially Carlos. Free Wi-fi & great views of the city, depending on your room. Walking distance to Las Ramblas, literally 1 block away. Near Metro Station. Just extremely easy to get around. On a busy street, can take a leisure walk to a cafe & even the mall. (The mall is...

OK I accept that if I'm booking a hotel in the centre of a vibrant city there is going to be some noise but the level of noice in the street facing lower floors (we were on floor 3) is just not acceptable. Add to that a Hen party on the same floor and you dont get much sleep. We...

After much research by my husband, we chose this hotel for the first leg of our honeymoon, and it was a great choice. We didn't mind walking anywhere, and everything we did was pretty close. Lots of little bars right around the hotel, which is always fun! The room and bathroom were both quite large for Europe, which was a...

We have just spent 4 nights in this hotel. Location good and hotel serves its purpose. We didn't have breakfast there as there are cafes about that are far better value. We had a room that slept 3 o one double/twin room and another room with a sofa bed for our son. Only complaint was that although we had 3...

We enjoyed a four night stay in the Universal, as did our two accompanying granddaughters (13, 9). The hotel is located on an busy thoroughfare at the W edge of the El Raval district, close to the once-notorious but now relatively sedate ‘Chinatown’. The immediate locality is uninteresting. There are better locations for those focussed on the Old City but...

I stayed here for several nights at the end of March 2013. The hotel (four stars) was clean, modern and central with nice rooms. From here you can walk to Las Ramblas in just over 10 minutes and the metro stop (green line) is just outside the front door. I did not go for breakfast there, which was 15 Euros...

Stayed for 2 nights. Very clean hotel. Neighbourhood is noisy. Try to get a room away from the street (outside view is terrible, but we didn't care). Bathroom and bed is very good. Rooms are not that good isolated. You hear your neighbours walking in their room when the have high heels and when the are noisy. Cheapest way from...

We stayed here for four nights. We emailed ahead of time to request a room on the upper floors and this request was granted. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom. The room was cleaned to an immaculate standard every day and we did not notice the noise that other visitors complained of. We felt very safe in...

We stayed here for the weekend of 23rd March for my girlfriends birthday. Although I didn't tell the staff why we were in Barcelona the noticed it was my girlfriends birthday at checking and upgraded is free of charge. I'm sure the room we paid for would've been fantastic but the upgrade we got was amazing. New room was bigger...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
