Very impressed with the opera. It is basic (ie no coffee making or TV) but clean, quiet and close to the centre of town. 55 euros a night is very good value and I'd certainly go back.

We recently stayed 5 nights at the Hostal Opera and could not fault it, we had a very large third floor room that was very quiet. The whole place was immaculately clean, the beds comfortable, loads of piping hot water and friendly helpful staff. The rooms do vary in size and some of the first floor rooms suffer from noise...

stayed at this hostal for 3 nights in Dec 2003, on the basis of reading these reviews, everything was fine except the room was at the front of the hotel & very noisy at nightime. But hey! 55euros per night & the fact we were out every evening anyway didnt really bother us that much.

Spent three very enjoyable nights in Barcelona at the Hostal Opera. Excellent location just off Ramblas, very clean, great service and if it couldn't get any better, cheap. Highly recommend.

I stayed at Hostal Opera between Nov 6 and 13. I loved its good location, just a min from the metro station. Besides, the staff there are quite helpful and can speak very fluent English which is excellent as I do not speak Spanish at all. For a single girl, I felt very safe at the hotel, but you still...

Well, after reading all the reviews I went to check this place myself, and was very disappointed, first of all the flag near the house shows two stars, but on the doors it reveals it's only one, and price for double room is 55 euros, which is cheap but rooms are small and very noisy, would not recommend. Across the...

The good -- amazing central location on the Ramblas, clean rooms, AMAZING low price. The bad -- very noisy, very thin walls and doors. I was on the first floor, and could hear people talking at the reception (including the management) long into the night. Also, very small rooms (but at the price, what would you expect). So, if you want a...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
