Stayed for one night prior to going on a cruise. Hotel in an a good place for Ramblas and Gothic area. There are homeless people who seem to live in the square where the hotel is situated, they did not bother us but there are two outdoor cafes nearby and initial reactions make you wonder if it is safe to...

This hotel makes an ideal base for exploring Barcelona. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk from Catalunya where the Aerobus arrives and departs. Walk down the Ramblas on the r/hand side and take the turning into Carrer de Hospital just after the wonderful market (LaBoqueria) and it is in a quiet square 100 yards on your left. It...

Stayed for 4 nights, couldn't believe how effective the double glazing was when closed to get rid of the street noise. Bedrooms were adequate but walls were a bit thin to the neighbours bathroom. No kettle meant we missed a 'brew ' in the morning Didn't have any problems with anyone in the square outside and always made our way...

Considering the relatively low price of this hotel, the location is fantastic. It is right in the heart of the city, practically on the Ramblas. Almost all of the major sights are within walking distance - Plaza Catalunya, the Old Town and the Harbour. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff we encountered were all very friendly and...

I stayed in this Hotel for 2 nights on a short break to Barcelona. The Hotel is ideally situated just off Las Ramblas and is therefore close to plenty of tourist attractions or to the bus stops for Day Tours. As some other reviews have said, there were small groups of men in the square outside the hotel who I...

this is a great hotel, a mins walk way from Las Ramblas, the room was small but spotlessly clean, the a/c worked well. there was a bath/ shower, hair dryer, safe. staff were all friendly and eager to help (they booked us a table for lunch). breakfast had a good cold selection and hot dog sasages and scrambled eggs for...

Spent 4 nights in this hotel and can't believe the negative comments about it. Our room was extremely spacious with separate bathroom from the toilet/bidet. It was all brand new furniture and everything was spotlessly clean. The 3* rating seems a little on the downside - I would rate it a 4". The square outside did seem to attract a...

In my opinion, the only thing this hotel has going for it is that it is near the ramblas. That said, the short walk between the two is unnerving, especially at night. There are a constant group of people drinking, who seem to have no fixed abode. My husband and I were approached by a man asking us if we...

Me and my OH stayed at the Sant Agusti Hotel for 3 nights. We were pleasantly greeted outside the Hotel by a homeless man relieving himself against a tree........word of warning, if you wear sandals watch where you walk as they just pee in the square outside the hotel. The hotel room was very basic but fine for 3 nights...

19th August 2010 I read the reviews before staying in St Agusti and we were pleasantly surprised as there seemed to be some quite negative comments. The hotel is very well located off Las Ramblas which has many restaurants, bars, metro, etc. The hotel is situated in a square just off the main street which is frequented by homeless and...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
