The location is perfect. Between La Pedrera (Casa Mila), Casa Batllo, and La Sagrada Familia. Its a real walking range. Near to Metro as well if you want to explore the city. The receptionist was very nice, gave us a map of Barcelona and transportation map. The room was nice, overall clean. The WiFi on my room was really good. Really...

Staff were very accommodating and helped my cousin and I out every way possible as we were new to the city. Hostel is perfect for a few nights close shops and cafes. Only downside is that the bathroom wasn't cleaned very well (when sharing with 2 other rooms) and when using my Australian hairdryer the whole floor lost power.

I guess everybody can have problems, right? The main point os how we deal with that. And simply don't know how to help people or deal with problems. The hostel is just "ok", but the team is awful. I don't recommend it at all. Barcelona can be much better.

Good Hostel. Well connected with most of the attractions in Barcelona. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Little expensive compared to other hostels but worth the money spent. The old style lift is takes you to older times.

Booked this hostel based on reviews, everything was very clean, reception staff was very helpful and always there, cleaning lady was very nice when i requested some soaps and other things, very centrical, close to restaurants, next to a supermarket. Its not a hostel like a real hostel, its like a few apartments they have splitted them into rooms, but...

Location was great. Close to all the major sights. Clean. Comfy beds. Walls were pretty thin, I used earplugs and was able to block out most of the noise. Beds could use a few more pillows. Overall it is a good spot to stay for a great price.

The first night we had a nice but very noisy room on THE fifth floor on THE streetside. We asked for another room at the inner side of the hotel and got a lovely room on the first floor with a little terrace. This was a lovely, clean and quiet room. The hotelmanager was very willing to help us and...

We spent three nights in Martinval Hostal and we really appreaciated our staying there. Barcelona is doubtless an amazing city, but is not so easy to find a confortable accomodation to relax after so many kilometers walking through all the barrios and hidden streets of the city. The room we had was a double bed one, very clean, with a...

Up until now, we have found TripAdvisor ratings to be an accurate and valuable rating system for hotels and restaurants. Martinval Hostal was a bad surprise for us. Based on the photos posted and the extraordinarily positive reviews, we expected a very decent place to stay. But several subtle red flags should have caught our attention. For example, many reviews...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
