Checked in a 1 stay stay over the Bank holiday weekend on May 30 fresh from 2 nights over in Sitges. Checkin was a tad surly & abrupt, the guy on checkin seemed very flusterred even though there was only 2 in line. He obliviously was not too good at his job as when we got back later that night...

As a travel agent I am very picky on which hotels I stay in and I must say that I was really happy with this hotel however I do feel the need to warn people away from a couple of streets in the vicinity of this hotel one of which was called hospital road. unfortunately on our first night a...

This hotel is in a great location and was very easy to find, its located on a square with bars and restaurants but this didn't mean that is was noisy at night. It's less than a 10 minute walk from Placa Cataluyna. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the rooms were well equipped which included a mini bar, safe...

I stayed here for 5 nights with my partner in October 2010, it was our first time in Barcelona and we had a really good time. The hotel is clean and modern with very friendly staff. The location was a huge bonus as everywhere is easy to find and can be reached on foot. We went to the market every...

The hotel is centrally located on a square within 5 walking minutes from the Rambla. It is very new and the rooms are modern, very clean and comfortable with nice bathrooms. The only thing that we had to critisize was that our window faced a sort of air shaft which didn't allow any direct sunlight or much fresh air -...

This hotel had everything you could ask for it was clean, spacious rooms and good service. The only concern was the surrounding side streets are a bit dodgy with some unsavoury looking characters but if you stay to the main road it is fine. Really close to main Rambla and the metro links, all in all would definetly return to...

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Barcelona. Great Marathon and good time with friends. The hotel is in the perfect location. Down a short side street off the Rambla, in the middle of a gorgeous square sits the hotel. The square is lined with trees and cafes place their tables and chairs in the centre. There are also...

This hotel is exactly what it says it is and makes an excellent base for seeing Barcelona. It is spotless, the staff are friendly and helpful and the beds are sooo comfortable. The buffet breakfasts are good too. It may not be in the most solubrious of areas but not once did we feel under threat or even uncomfortable and...

We stayed here with friends on our annual shopping trip. The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from La Ramblas in a busy area. There are a few nice restaurants and bars in the same square which are all very reasonably priced. They're favoured by locals so offer good tapas and a cosy atmosphere. The rooms are typical...

I think I'd like to give just under 3 stars. Two stars is way too mean, but three stars feels a little generous. Good points: I love the location - it's 5 mins walk west of Liceu metro, so also just 5 mins west of the middle of Las Ramblas. It's also just a few mins walk from Paral.lel and...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
