Stayed at chic and basic born on a previous visit which is why we booked again. Heard they'd opened a new hotel around the corner and decided to check it out. Disappointing really. First of all it's just a floor in a building shared with flats....access proved difficult at times. A buzzer needed to be pressed to get in which...

While the room is basic but functional, it served our needs just fine. The room and hotel was clean and interior was nicely decorated. Not overboard but looked okay. The location worked well for us. They stored our baggage at Chic&Basic-Born until check-in time. Desk folks gave us a map of the city and pointed out the highlights. We only...

We had room No. 17. It was tiny. There was no room to store 2 small suitcases, we had to put them in the bathroom. The room wasn't chic at all, it was dark and had a very small window facing a wall in the backyard. As small as the room was the TV which had mainly Spanish channels. But...

Stayed one night then moved to another hotel closer to Eixample. Rooms are super basic, not very clean and the general amenities were lacking. I realized how well located it was once i moved to Eixample, but even though i would look for another hotel to stay in

As in the title a quirky hotel close to the gothic quarter. It has extremely friendly staff who possess excellent English. It's quiet and peaceful and it's a great place to chill out. There are lots of tapas bars locally for breakfast and dinner but walk a bit more than a hundred yards and there really are some amazing places....

Emphasis is definetely on the basic rather than the chic!!! The only good thing I can say about this hotel was that the location was good. We chose it as there was a huge technology conference in Barcelona and struggled to find a hotel with 2 rooms. Trip advisor reviews looked OK which makes me ask" what kind of hotels...

Very well located, walking distance from most of the important sights of the city. The room was normal, small but with all the things we needed and most important: no noises from outside! All the staff was super cool. Regards to Gustavo who gave us important tips on how to get to the airport and bus station. We only stayed...

Visited here in August 2016 the bed was very comfortable but the bathroom was tired and dirty . Not worth the money paid (95 euros) There is free water and coffee but the milk had run out when we returned late at night. Staff at local Born hotel very helpful but it's not easy to find !!

Pros: Room was spacious and clean with good aircon. Beds were comfortable. Great location! The hotel is walking distance from a lot of sights, plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and the beach. The hotel offered a good range of free amenities. Cons: A lot of construction work was taking place next door to the hotel. Throughout our stay there was...

Nice location. Rooms are very small but very clean. Plenty of nice bats and restaurants near by and hop on hop of bus tours can be booked at reception and bus stops quite close to hotel. Booked taxi from reception to return to airport and paid nearly double what we paid to get from airport to hotel. May be better...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
