Nestled in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, Hotel Barcelona Catedral strikes a chord with its central location, highly rated for both sightseeing and business. While opinions on value diverge, with some guests finding the rates high, the hotel compensates with a host of praised amenities like complimentary wine, cheese, and walking tours. The rooftop pool and cleanliness earn special mentions, as do the cozy rooms outfitted with comfortable mattresses.
Service at the hotel receives accolades for attentiveness, adding to the restful and welcoming atmosphere. However, visitors should note potential noise issues and air conditioning problems in some rooms.

In the heart of the old Gothic quarter, the hotel is a stone's throw from the cathedral with its beautiful, lively large square. The hotel street is however very quiet. Many bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The beach is accessible on foot (1.6 km) and if you pass through the typical district of El Born it is a very pleasant journey. All the hotel staff are top notch, helpful and always smiling. We really appreciated the free "wine and cheese" break every day at 5:00 p.m. The bedroom and bathroom are very spacious (25m2), comfortable with a large window and a good king-size bed. Toiletries, coffee and water are renewed every day without any forgetting. Impeccable cleanliness. The breakfast is delicious, plentiful, with an extremely varied choice. We stayed for a week and it was great.

We stayed for 3 nights having a long weekend in October. Our experience at the hotel was great from start to finish. The room was large and so was the bathroom, plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe and room for bags. The bed was very comfortable, really nice feather quilt and pillows and high quality sheets. There was a very comfortable chair in the room. The bathroom was modern and clean, large sink and rainforest shower with plenty of toiletries. There’s a minibar that’s not too expensive. The air con in the room was excellent. The room was so quiet, we were on the second floor by the lifts and hardly heard any noise for the 3 days. The rest of the hotel was very nice, nice bar area, indoor and outdoor, and lounging area. The rooftop area has reasonable views and you can hear the background bustle of the city, the pool is nice but a bit cold for October weather if your not swimming in it. There’s also a small gym on the roof. All of the staff were really friendly and housekeeping was great. This hotel is right on the gothic quarter so it was very convenient for everything, we thought the gothic quarter was the nicest part of Barcelona and we did look around the rest of the city, we walked everywhere from the hotel and back. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, it was €20 each per day, we found very nice places locally for breakfast cheaper than that. We highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights, and were so impressed. From the second you walk in you can see it is a elegant, modern and clean hotel. Our hotel room was also great, plenty of space and a big comfy bed. Bathroom also has a rain shower. We were also so impressed with the location of the hotel, a 5 minute walk from La Ramblas, the metro station and from Vie La Laitenna. We felt very safe, we were offered free hand sanitizer and everything was socially distanced. Breakfast is quite pricey for 16 euro per person, however the food was great and you can order as much as you want. The cafe directly beside it is also amazing for breakfast for a fraction of the price. I find it very hard to fault anything about this hotel, I would highly recommend.

We started for ten nights in December and felt the hotel was great value for money and located in a fantastic location. The rooms are clean and are good size and the bed was huge and comfy. The main Cathedral is around the corner, so very close, but being down the side, the hotel is set back from a lot of the noise. The historic part of Barcelona is literally right outside and it’s walking distance to all of the main attractions and shopping areas. We loved that the hotel was dog friendly and the staff were all really welcoming and lovely. There is a small window each day where free wine and snacks are offered which was a lovely bonus. The on-site bar ‘ restaurant has really good food and was also well priced.

Stayed here for three nights on a city break. The hotel is located close to the old Cathedral and in the heart of the Gothic quarter. The lady on reception when we arrived was really helpful, supplying maps with useful information and advice on where to get breakfast. Every day the hotel offered free wine and cheese for 15 minutes at 5pm which was a lovely treat at the end of a long day sightseeing. The complimentary bottle of water in our room was replaced daily which was really useful. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was smart and well equipped. I also enjoyed a swim in the roof top pool, it was a little chilly in early October but very refreshing.

I booked our party of 6 people and 4 nights quite early directly with the hotel (can be recommended) and received quick help via email on all the questions we had. Nice and helpful at the reception, we went several good tips. Among other things, they have bikes to lend (we didn't test) and they have guided tours of the old town twice a year. We went on a Sunday morning and we can really recommend it! Super good and knowledgeable guide. The rooms were comfortable, fresh and quiet, the beds wonderful. Nice with a pool on the roof, some pigeons, but it's hard to avoid regardless of which hotel you stay at. Good breakfast, we liked the arrangement of getting trays and ordering the additions you wanted. If you want, the hotel offers wine and cheese in the afternoon (be on time). The location was perfect for us. Yes, we were really happy with the trip and the hotel and can imagine staying here again!

This Pension is particularly well located to visit Barcelona. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Nice service. We had a great time there. The only regrets concern: - the restaurant which offers only international dishes and almost nothing local, but there are enough Spanish restaurants 5 minutes walk -the fact that I could not choose a room with double bed, because there were only twin rooms left - access to cars and taxis is complicated, the taxi drops you off at 30 meters. On the other hand, the Pension offers a glass of wine with cheeses at 5 p.m., which creates a nice conviviality among guests. I recommend it and will definitely go back.

Fantastic mid price hotel with a brilliant location. The room was very comfortable and beautifully clean. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Absolutely could not fault them. Every evening at 5 pm there is a free cheese and wine tasting which was lovely after a long day of sight seeing. Drinks at the bar are very reasonably priced. They also offer free walking tours on a Sunday and a Wednesday. We were lucky enough to join the tour of the Gothic Quarter led by Sergi on Wednesday evening. What a brilliant tour guide and fantastically well spoken and interesting person. I can't believe this is offered for free. Would not hesitate to stay here again. My only very minor gripe is that for me the rooms (even in February) got a little warm over-night and air conditioning was not available at this time of the year. The windows opened which helped but it was a little noisy (only with open windows). It wouldn't stop me booking again as everything else was fantastic but just something to be aware of if you're sensitive to it being a bit warm. Thank you for an excellent holiday.

We got a really good deal because I booked the rooms 6 months ahead n there was a promotion at a 3rd party platform. So we are really happy when we saw the areas. We cannot fault the location. It is the best!!! It is right in the middle of shopping streets and less than 10min walk from Pl. Catalunya. Yet it was quiet except for the 12 midnight rubbish trucks. But it only lasted few min n it's not noisy at all. Christmas Market is 2 min walk away. La Boqueria Market is within walking distance. In fact, we walked everywhere such as Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Pedrera (Casa Mila) etc. The AEROBUS A2 from airport dropped us off at Pl. Catalunya, Pl. Then we were able to drag our luggage, walked less than 10min to reach hotel. We also took aerobus back to airport. We paid the fare on the bus. Plenty of dining choices and mini-marts near hotel. The window in the room can be opened ! Although our rooms face the streets, it was on a small alley so it is not noisy. Kiss of Freedom mural is just opposite the hotel. We really didn't want to trouble the housekeeping everyday and thought we were being thoughtful. But the housekeeper told us she gets paid by the number of rooms she cleans! So do let the housekeeping clean your rooms! Overall we are very pleased with our stay.

The location is exceptional, around the corner from the cathedral in the gothic section of the city. The staff is friendly and helpful. The selection, quality, and service is wonderful at breakfast. The work out room equipment was just fair, not the level of a Hilton, Marriott, or Hyatt. They did accommodate us and gave us a room opposite of the cathedral so the bell noise was not overpowering. If you are an American and are use to cold A/C understand that there is not temperature control in the room, the system either runs heat or cooling at same temperature throughout the rooms. The air conditioning in the restaurant works well. We were warm at night even though we could open our window before going to bed. We had the fan on the highest setting. We had two restaurants below us and scooters zip around the city so we closed our window when going to sleep. Depending on price we may stay here again.

It did NOT offer any tests this past July.
Numerous pharmacies nearby are your best bet for same day PCR tests. Also there were kiosks at the airport this summer.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
