It was outstanding hotel it worth by price and location. Location is near to SAGRADA FAMILY and LA RAMBLA so you are accessible to most of the things you can visited. Rooms were very clean, nice breakfast buffet, frindly staff and helpful, will be back for sure.

After a disappointing stay at a ridiculously overrated hotel in Paris, I was apprehensive about what we'd encounter at this hotel. It was therefore a nice surprise to arrive to a very friendly (and cute!) front desk person, and even better to enter a room that was bright, spacious, and airy. We had a standard room, but the windows opened up to create a balcony like environment. It was very sunny, and could have been too warm but for the AC, which was fantastic in the unexpected late October heat wave.

While the bathroom could use some maintenance and things were beginning to show signs of wear, overall this place was great. The location was close to everything yet still quiet, even during the day with the windows wide open.

Our view was just of surrounding rooftops and balconies, but it was fine for our needs. I really appreciated the bright decor and tall ceilings. And the beds, though typical European twins, were very comfortable.

For me having a quiet environment is very important, and this place somehow managed to be very quiet despite being sold out and always busy. I wish every hotel would figure out how to do this. I didn't hear any noise from adjacent rooms at all, which is something of a miracle with my supersonic hearing.

There was also NO cigarette smell anywhere on the property, for which I was immensely grateful. Nor did the room smell of any type of air freshener, which was a huge relief.

And even with the unprecedented late season tourism that resulted in most hotels selling out, our room was less expensive than other, lesser rated hotels.

I would definitely stay here again.

I never leave reviews to hotels, mostly because I I find them all flawed. I’m leaving to review to this hotel because I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. The only thing I would suggest are maybe improvements. Starting with the staff who are not only open to helping you with any problem that you might have, or calling you a taxi when there is a protest around (protests happen quite often in Barcelona from what I understood) but they make you feel welcomed like you are in your own home. Them speaking 3 languages also helps. The breakfast contains a variety of options including but not limited to 3 types of cheese, 3 types of salami’s, bacon, fruits, yogurts, etc. The breakfast was great and you did have what to choose from. They also have an open bar service from 14-23 where you can get coffee, juices, drinks and other beverages (at an additional cost). The rooms are pretty spacious (we booked the Standard with Balcony), with very high ceilings and a flat screen tv. The bathroom quite modern and the hot water never stops (which is a good sign as most hotels have problems with long running hot water). The cleaning service is every 2 days but if you need anything they are always there to help and provide to your needs.
The position of the hotel is amazing, you get views to the Sagrada Familia (which is just a 15 minutes walk away), you have a bus and metro station not far (a 10 minute walk at most). Plenty of restaurants are near as you are in the heart of Barcelona.
The hotel also has a gym (we didn’t get to use it unfortunately as we were tired after walking the entire day), and a conference room, a booth were you can make calls without being disturbed and an inside terrace where you can enjoy the Spanish sun. The check-out is at 12 but you can leave your luggages if your flight leaves later and come pick them up when it’s time to go.
If I were to suggest some improvements it would be an extension to the blinds/curtains so you could pull the blinds all the way, having very high ceilings is quite hard so the light tends to enter the room in the morning. Also you should expect a little noise, Barcelona traffic never stops so there will be honking at times. Perhaps a way to seal the doors a little better in order for the room to be more soundproof would be a good idea. As I said, I couldn’t find anything wrong with this hotel, only small improvements that can make it even greater in the long run.
I would like to thank the entire staff of Room Mate Carla Hotel for their hospitality and for attending to our needs during our great stay in their amazing hotel.

We stayed at this hotel in June 2024 for 3 nights before our cruise out of Barcelona and for 3 nights post cruise. The location is within a 15 minute walk from the main road which are lined with many luxury shops, hotels, restaurants and other attractions.
Check in was little less than hospitable as the gentleman at the front desk seemed irritated when asked more than a few questions.
The rooms are average size and each time we had a room overlooking a rear courtyard with other residential units.
We found a old pair of socks in our room which made the experience feeling dirty. They have a small breakfast buffet where they constantly try to upsell to you for EUR 10/pp but you can easily get a good selection of wonderful baked items and coffee at any nearby cafe for about EUR 5.
There is a complimentary bottle of water, chocolates and instant coffee in the rooms. There is also a hot water kettle and refrigerator which we made use of. The AC worked well in the room but we chose to open the doors for fresh air each night.
In summary, this is a fair hotel located a little off the main area. The hotel staff needs to show more courtesy and friendliness to foreign visitors.

When I arrived at the hotel, I was greeted by efficient and welcoming staff. Initially, I thought I was going to have a wonderful experience at this hotel having stepped off the street into the beautifully air-conditioned reception in what I believed to be a 4 star Hotel. I was to be significantly disappointed!!!

The housekeeping team had left behind cleaning products and the device which filters water going down the shower drain was also left unattended to. The vanity was leaking water and nothing was done to address this safety violation.

The air-conditioning in my room wouldn’t go any lower than 24°, I had no electric kettle from which I could make tea or coffee and was given a 1 L supply of hot water.

The toiletries in my shower were empty also no batteries in the TV remote. All of these are surmountable issues, except perhaps the vanity unit leaking water onto the floor. The water leaking onto the floor is a Health & Safety Hazard! Not safe for children or Adults!!

I tried to address these issues and even asked to speak with a manager, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Overall, my experience of this hotel has been one of the most negative in my life; clearly this is a hotel lacking direction and investment by the owner.

Ultimately, I would suggest that this is not a 4 Star Hotel. I think it might be a 2 Star HEALTH & Safety VIOLATION!!!

Hotel located in a strategic position between Casa Battlo and Sagrada Familia.
Aesthetically very nice, the rooms are not bad, but they lack some details that could be useful (such as coat hanger).
I was a customer of room mate Emma some time ago and had a great time, so expectations were high given that the Carla is a 4 star.
Well unfortunately I had to change my mind:
- Careless cleaning of the room, in fact after 3 days I noticed that the dustbin was never thrown away (already full from the first day), they forgot a used sponge in the bathroom, the shower/tub still had a residue from the shower taken the night before, the instant coffee/sugar refill was never carried out in 3 days.
- before going to the hotel I asked for a small present (my partner had a birthday) to no avail.
- the breakfast praised by all, I wasn't thrilled with a few things both sweet and savory, the dining room staff was absent (in fact when a course finished they were seen 10 minutes later).
I can say that it was a disappointment, I never expected all this from a Room Mate, I'm simply disappointed.

We arrive at the hotel and are immediately pleased with the location; our initial impression is good. We pay the city tax upfront, 20 euros for 2 nights for 2 people. However, when we are about to check out, they do not believe that we have paid the city tax, and we end up having a discussion with the receptionist.
Our room is right across from the fitness center, and we are awakened every morning at 6:30 as people start running on the treadmills, which are just 2 meters from our room.

It's a bit disappointing that there isn't better control over these issues, especially regarding the payment.

Location is great, hotel experience is 1-2 stars.

Stayed here for 4 nights and we were lucky to be able to check in right away. Front desk people were friendly and helpful. Hotel location is very central with top sights such as La Sagrada, Casa Mila, Casa Battlo, all within a 10-15 minute walk. Hotel design is contemporary but a bit dark for us. You can smell the hotel fragrance once you step in the lobby. Unfortunately, for someone who is sensitive to some strong scents, it did give me a slight headache. Housekeeping did a great job but the room could use a bit of upkeep. Baseboards need a repaint and there was rust in the bathroom sink.

We stayed 5 nights at the Room Mate Carla in mid-Februray 2020. The hotel is located in the Eixample District of Barcelona, which is a very nice area just far enough from Las Ramblas to be convenient for walking, but away from the crazy hustle and bustle of that area.

We arrived from an overnight flight (four couples) to find that three of our rooms were ready for us at noon, which is always nice on arrival day. We were welcomed by a very friendly front desk staff, including Rosa, the manager. They could not have been more kind of welcoming. Rosa had even saw to it that a box fan I had requested for our room was already waiting in the room when we arrived. (We like to sleep with fan noise).

The hotel is modern, very clean, and quiet. Our room was on the rear court, which opens up to a large (city block area) of court yard including some childrens play areas, outdoor terraces, etc from the adjoining apartment buildings. We never heard any noise from outside, nor did we ever hear any corridor noise either. The rooms are decorated in a modern fashion, the beds were comfortable, and the in room air conditiong worked great.

Breakfast, although not included in our rate, was a very nice arrangment of meats, cheeses, hot items, eggs, bacon, breads, fruits, croissants, juices - quite typical, but very plentiful and very good. It was worth the extra 9 euros per person (which was the 20% off rate if you chose to have breakfast each morning of your stay).

We were very pleased with Room Mate Carla and would recommend it for those looking for a good priced, modern, friendly hotel in a convenient location.

I read about this hotel chain’s rebranding, where they claim to offer “quite luxury” accommodations. However, our room was far from clean, which is the only luxury I desire. The bathroom was dreadful, with black mold in the shower—disgusting. They added some colors and eclectic decorations in a city where most hotels are very old and have outdated rooms (not referring to the exterior architecture), but the hotel is not good. The location is great, but the cleanliness… horrible.

You can take the train from BCN and stop at the nearest station to the hotel. Exactly the name of the station I can't remember but you may visit the web of the hotel to see the name. It is only 10 minutes from the hotel and I suggest to buy the 10k ticket ( 10 routes per ticket ) it's cost about 10 Euro and you can travel also with train bus and metro.
