We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were only here for 1night before getting on a cruise. The location was just close enough to Las Ramblas, Catalunya Plaza, and the metro - about a 5-10 minute walk. The room was clean, modern, and served it's purpose. Two elevators ensured no waiting. The bottled water was a bonus. The staff...

We stayed here for one night before heading to the Costa Brava. Rooms are clean and modern, but somewhat sterile. You do get unlimited supply of free bottled water, which is nice. Main issue was terrible service at any price - staff was unfriendly and did not make the slightest effort to help us with the most basic information. You...

Hotel Ciutat Vella is very very well-located; 5 min. walk to reach Plaza Catalunya, 5 min. walk to reach El Raval; next to the Airport Bus stop (Universidad). The lobby communicated a fresh and young atmosphere at the first sight - perhaps a blend between a boutique and a youth hotel. The bedroom was fine, clean and spacious, although it...

Location. Very good, but do not stay in the street facing room! Noise! There is some glass bottle facility in adjecant building and they are starting with sorting at 5 AM. Every morning. And if you somehow oversleep that, cleaning vehicle at 5:15 AM will wake you up. Our room was clean and tidy. It is on the small side...

We thought we had made the choice of a good hotel, calm and relaxing. In fact, two of the three nights were a nightmare experience. The first night, the street was so noisy that we couldn't sleep at all. Furthermore, the television in the next room was turned so loud, until late in the night, that it was impossible to...

We stayed at the Hotel Ciutat Vella at the end of June and had a great experience! The hotel is well situated in Barcelona with excellent access to the Metro as well as La Rambla. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. I had to go to a Doctor while in Barcelona and needed to find a...

Really lovely warm welcome on arrival and as we got there early they had a secure area to put our bags in and told us the room we were allocated would be reay for midday. We walked to the main Las Ramlas which took us no more than 5 minutes and it was very lively. We grabbed some food and...

My partner and I stayed at the Ciutat Vella for four nights in July 2012. We arrived late at night - it's tucked away down a side street a short walk from the large Catalunya square. I found the walk down this street/alleyway a little frightening at night as it was so quiet and graffiti-covered. But in the morning the...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
