Booked our week's stay based on the price and reviews and could not fault the hotel. We had seen previous reviewers warning about breakins but we had no experience of this and had a great time overall. The free water and the wifi was great. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as there were so many small bakeries...

Centrally located at 2 minutes walk to La Ramblas and the close to 2 metro stations, this was the ideal spot for a night in Barcelona prior to taking a cruise. In addition it is walking distance to the Colom monument at the end of La Ramblas where we took the shuttle bus to our ship...not taxi, no public transportation...

Well, the location was superb. Rooms were spacious and very clean. They had a locker facility, an open wardrobe. My favourite part of the stay was the free cold bottled water at the lobby. This simple gesture does not cost the hotel much but pleases the guests a lot!. Downsides - poor receptionist. clueless and unhelpful. Poor wifi network.

The hotel has a very nice rooftop terrace with a little swimming pool, location is perfect to see everything around, Piccaso Museum - just two steps from the hotel - must see. It was very enjoyable stay with my family. P.S. Buffet breakfast - very good.

This is a small hotel, in a very old building, but very modern inside. The room is great: good and new bed, clean bathroom and very clean and modern furniture and accessories. There is a Jacuzzi on the top floor, in a very pleasant spot, with a good view, perfect place to relax in the end of the day. There...

Ciutat Vella is a very well situated hotel although in a noisy neighborhood. Staff are really friendly and helpfull. They offer bottles of water that you can bring to your room or even take for the day, a very good point due to the bad taste of Barcelona's water. We arrived at night, so we found the room very nice;...

I found Hotel Ciutat Vella on the internet. Based on pictures, location and prices, I booked a room. My husband was a little reluctant, but as soon as we got there, it proved to be the best decision ever. The hotel is new, the rooms are clean, and beds are comfortable. There is a LCD TV set in the bedroom...

I will have to agree with the following reviews that hotel is great for 1st visit, location is very centralized and is just 2 steps from Las Ramblas. I have also learned from experience that pictures always make things look much more better that they really are, so i wasn't expecting what i have seen from the pictures but at...

This charming little hotel has a lot going for it. The location is excellent right in the middle of town within at most a 5 minute walk from the hectic start of Las Ramblas and the Place de Catalunya, 15min to the heart of Old Town, and 30min to the oceanfront. The rooms are decent size compared to European standards,...

I usually stay in P.de Gracia area on business, but this was a family trip. 3 of us in family room, a bit cramped as they just put an extra bed in a double room, but it was ok. Location was great for Plz. Catalunya, lower Ramblas, and Boqueria market. Some funky shops close by, tatoo parlors, record shops, but...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
