Excellent visit from start to finish. We were able to check in early at 12:30 as room was available. Even if it handout been available confirmation email had advised you could leave luggage and use facilities such as pool until it was. Warmly welcomed, very friendly and attentive staff throughout the hotel. Room wonderful with upgraded bathrooms, large, clean, modern facilities, balcony with beautiful view of the bay of San Sebastián and church. Just fantastic. The pool area was lovely, not permitted to save sun beds so always available with padding and towels. Outdoor bar open at weekend, and able to eat drink at the pool or the indoor/outdoor Saffron restaurant which is open till midnight and offers food via room service 24 hours at very reasonable prices. Gym facilities wonderful, and overall just a fantastic experience. We had a great stay and will definitely be returning.

It's been a while since I last stayed at the Melia Sitges and overall most things are still the same, mostly good. Checking in was quick as it was a quite time of the day and it took a little longer owing to the temperature checks and extra forms to be signed, all while wearing your face mask.

Room was on the third floor with a partial ocean view and a balcony , beds were clean and comfortable. There is no soft furnishings anywhere and all brochures , pens and notepads have been removed due to the covid-19 cleaning regime.

Lots of wardrobe space and the room looks bigger as it is so empty. The bathroom was fine, just a little worn around the edges ( chipped basin) The shower was easy to use and large cartons of shower gel , shampoo & conditioner in the cubicle.

The AC was really good and worked very well which was needed as it was 30+ outside , the free to use wi-fi was ok, it dropped a few times and one morning it was down for a while but not a real issue. The sound proofing was superb, once the balcony door was closed you could not hear any passing trains or street noise! Perfect for a quiet nice's sleep.

Breakfast was different as you would expect in this times. On entering you are given a tray and some cutlery and shown to a table. There is a one way system although a lot of people seemed to ignore it. Everything is behind clear screens and passed over to you, there is no help yourself except for the cold items , juices, coffee and yogurts/ fruit. It worked well but just took a little longer , tables were wiped and sanitized after use which was good to see.

Service was hit and miss, reception was sometimes terribly understaffed and you could have a long wait if there is people checking in as there was no reception desk to deal with simple enquires. The business center was closed due to covid so no printing facilities were available. The pool are was well managed and the lifeguard did a super job managing the towels and moving around the loungers so they were socially distant which was a little hard as there was a lot of families.

The town is about 10/15 walk away down hill and around 10 euro back at night in a taxi . There is Carrefour express market on the other side of the roundabout about 5 mins away for water, sodas and chips if you need anything like that.

The Melia Sitges is a dependable and reliable chain hotel in a good location overlooking the sea, however it might not suit if you prefer to be in nearer to the bars and restaurants of the town center.

We were looking for a dog friendly hotel in Sitges and ended up at Melia. They charge €30 per day extra for the dog and have a weight limit of 10 kg. We were not aware of that and our dog is big and much heavier and they were so kind to make an exception for us. We stayed in low season in January and during Corona and there were very few guests. The hotel has a good cleaning and disinfection policy and the items in the rooms are labelled with a sticker to make sure they are disinfected. The rooms are modern and very comfortable with small terraces and beautiful views of the sea. Parking is hassle free in the underground parking garage and costs €25 a day. It is a short 20-minute walk into town, which we always enjoyed very much.

The hotel is a short 20-25 minute taxi from Barcelona airport (we used Cabify and cost roughly 40 Euro) Check in was swift and reception staff full of helpful information (although forgot to give us cards for towels more on that later!) The lobby is expansive and a little bit of a dead space but very modern. There are lifts to all rooms and we were in 250. The room itself was a bit of a let down, a bit tired and old looking, no extra amenities (no shower cap etc) 2 water free for the entire trip in my opinion wasn’t enough these should be replaced every day. The room is also next to a cleaners store room which meant we were woken every morning early whether we wanted to or not, fortunately we get up early but for anyone wanting a lie in I’d ask for a different room. The pool area is a good size, lots of sun beds and we never found a problem getting a bed (people queue in the morning to get beds but we never found the need to) There is a ticket system to get towels, reception are supposed to give you tickets for towels when you check in and you exchange these at the pool getting the ticket back when you return the towel. You then hand ticket in at end of stay to ensure you aren’t charged for the towels. It’s a bit of a faff but I see why they do it! Breakfast at The Melia is amazing and is why I’ve given the hotel a good rating rather than just average. Every single thing you could want for breakfast is there, fresh pastries, bread and rolls, omelette and pancake and waffle station. Meats, cheeses, all sorts of jams and honey, wines and sparkling wine water, plain or flavoured, all types of juices and smoothies it was just perfection. There is a small bar area with reasonably priced drinks and they do snacks (club sandwich chips pizza etc) during the day and also dinner and proper lunches. The hotel is approx 15 minute walk to old town, be warned not much shade on the walk in. Over all a very good stay let down by a below standard room and a few minor issues, staff and breakfast made up for these.

Dear Guest, Thanks for this review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our amazing breakfast buffet and found our team to be friendly and helpful. Our breakfast selection is designed to cater to a variety of tastes and preferences, and we are glad it met your expectations. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the room and the noise from the nearby store room. We understand the importance of a good night's sleep and will take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. Our hotel offers a variety of room types, some of which have been recently renovated. For your next visit, we recommend requesting a room on a higher floor with a marina view, as these rooms tend to be quieter. Additionally, we provide sleep masks and earplugs upon request for a more comfortable stay. As for the water bottles, we appreciate your suggestion and will consider it for future enhancements in our services. We are glad that you found our pool area to be enjoyable and our towel system efficient. Our location, just a short walk from the old town and the beach, makes it convenient for our guests to explore Sitges while enjoying a peaceful stay. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel in the future. Kind regards, Irene Rodríguez Fortes, Guest Manager

Hotel was around 20 min walk from the city centre. Hotel had a nice pool with sunbeds.

Breakfast was good but very busy, a lot of people. The baked beans were horrible, do not recommend.

The phone in the room was very dusty, they need to work on cleaning the phones. Also the sound on the phones was bad, when ringing reception or other rooms there was a lound sound in the background I could not communicate well.

Let’s start with the positives
Maribel on front desk was gorgeous, pleasant and lovely and the lunch by the pool was really good. The room itself was fabulous
We arrived early and booked a triple room for £380 a night . Quite expensive but it’s been 18 months since we have been on holiday and so needed this pamper. We checked in early and although the room was ready it was only made up for two. Quite understandable. Housekeeper was informed and we rang guest services. Contact was made 4 times during our stay. Needless to say when we eventually returned to the room after dinner late the room was still a double only two towels two of everything except only one bed
I ended up sleeping on the floor , the sofa was too hot. The next day breakfast was a trial, only two chefs cooking hot food to order I waited 30 minutes for two fried eggs, others were just walking out at one point I counted over 25 people queuing. The bread and sweet treats were also in the hot food area which made it impossible to replenish without jumping the 30 minute queue.
On checkout I was offered 10 euro discount for my inconvenience, I could have choked.
If I wanted to sleep on the floor I could have done that for free
When asked why didn’t I ring and ask to get the extra bed when I returned , I’d already asked 4 times, how many times do I need to ask??
I come to Sitges often, I travel often, I will never stay in a Melia hotel again and I suggest you think about it before you book as there are plenty of great options available

Stayed at the Melia Sitges for a short vacation in September.

The hotel was scrupulously clean, and housekeeping did a great job in our room. The bed was massive and really comfortable, an absolute fantastic sleep every night.

The room has the usual comforts like stocked mini bar, coffee maker, safe, ironing board, and kettle.

The balcony was great, furnished with table and chairs, and it was great to sit out in the evening looking out towards the sea.

The restaurant was fabulous, and the food was plentiful, replenished regularly. Chef on hand to make you fresh omlettes and waffles to your liking.

A large choice of hot and cold items from fresh juices, fresh meats, fresh fruit, fresh pasteries, waffles, yoghurts, and breads everything you could possibly want. All delicious.

Staff in the restaurant were professional, attentive, friendly, and very welcoming, and the housekeeping staff are really friendly and do their very best to cater to your every whim to ensure your room is perfect.

The male Front of house staff stayed professional, with what van only described the nonchalant attitude.

The location of the hotel is situated far left as you could go, more suited to the quiet end of Sitges.
It's definitely positioned up the hill in the more residential side of Sitges. It has an abundance of apartment blocks surrounding you.

Granted its walkable to the train station in approximately 25 minutes, and you could easily reach the main hustle and bustle of the town in 40 minutes or so, great for walking down to the town for your evening strolls and walking back up the hill afterwards.

For info, there is another Melia hotel called the Sitges ME Terramar on the other side of the beach, which is more like a vibrant 5* hotel. This particular hotel is predominantly beach location with atmosphere.

This hotel we have stayed is more suited to guests, preferring the quiet life. This is just our personal opinion as some guests do prefer total relaxation and tranquillity, and this hotel does just that.

Fantastic power shower.

We did have niggles, the WiFi throughout our stay was sporadic. The staff on reception showed little interest to help in this instance.

The air conditioning in the room was not as cool as you would expect. Maintenance attempted to make adjustments but to no avail. Again, staff showed little interest in getting it resolved.

This hotel does have many large indoor open spaces suited for conventions, exhibitions, and conference centres, presumably, hence how it generates lots of its income in addition to the bedrooms in low season.

We probably wouldn't stay here again personally, but on reflection, it's a decent hotel apart from the niggles.

Dear Sir, We appreciate the time you have taken to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you found our hotel clean and comfortable, and that you enjoyed the fantastic sleep on our Pikolin Dreammakers Mattress. It's great to know that you appreciated the amenities in your room and the beautiful sea view from your balcony. We are also pleased that you enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet at our Noray Restaurant, and that our staff, especially in the restaurant and housekeeping, were professional, attentive, and friendly. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the WiFi and air conditioning in your room. We continuously strive to improve our services and facilities, and your feedback is valuable in helping us do so. Our hotel is indeed located in a quieter area of Sitges, which many guests appreciate for its tranquility and proximity to the beach. We understand that some guests may prefer a more vibrant atmosphere, and we appreciate your understanding in this regard. We hope to welcome you back in the future. I have spent many extremely enjoyable holidays in this hotel over the last 15 years. This year however the experience was very disappointing. When we arrived the check in experience was lacking in a warm welcome. In advance we requested 2 beds in the room but on entering there was only one king size. Eventually this was sorted. During our stay the room however was kept immaculately clean. The service in Saffron is slow and inefficient and the food very poor quality and presentation.
There are insufficient parasols around the pool area resulting in an early morning queue and stampede for sun beds with shade. Many of the beds were broken and the side tables filthy. Glasses were rarely collected resulting in the bar running out of appropriate drinks vessels.
The corridors carpets are absolutely filthy and require to be replaced immediately.
I believe the hotel has to be refurbished early next year but unfortunately I doubt I’ll will be returning.

My booking was made & I called the Hotel to ensure that my 2 rooms adjoined was not an issue; this was important as my children are both under 2. I also checked that taking my dog wasnt an issue; again I was reassured it wasnt an issue.

Checkin:

My rooms were not together, if I wanted them together I had to pay an additional €35 per room per night. I agreed as I was assured the rooms were together & adjoining. They were neighbouring rooms, but completely seperate & not adjoining. We spent our Break in 2 seperate rooms; My Wife with the Kids & myself with the Dog.

I had to pay extra for the dog also.

Housekeeping & F&B Staff were really great.

Check out:

I have since had my Credit Card charged for over €700, despite Checking Out & paying the balance owed. Almost 1/2 of the Bar/Restaurant charges are from 3days before I entered the hotel. Other charges inc Breakfast Charges whilst my Package inc Breakfast.

I have written twice to the Property to understand these charges, nobody replies…so, it looks like I will need to revisit in order to understand how I get my money back…

Final point, which I dont agree with is €20 charges for kids Dinner Buffet regardless of age. My Son is 18months old. He ate Rice & a biscuit for €20.

Whatever you do, please be aware there seems to be a mini crime wave in Sitges currently - we came back yesterday - a number of people we know have had their valuables stolen, so keep an eye on purses / handbags and only take limited amounts of cash with you if you are going out of an evening, and if people try to stop you to ask questions - just keep walking! - Better safe than sorry! Have a GREAT HOLIDAY!

Answer from sitgesfan2016

There is a bus that runs from the airport , it will cost about 8 euros each and take around 25 minutes. It is operated by the bus company Plana , previously Monbus . The train is very good value too but slightly more complicated . A taxi will cost around 75 euros .
