We were very happy to get cheap accommodation in the old town. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. However, I had the feeling that I had ended up in a discount hotel. The interior seemed contemporary, but the building was showing signs of wear and tear in one or two corners. The mixer tap in the bathroom mixed the water from cold to hot almost immediately and the shower head was leaking. The TV only showed one channel. The lady at reception was also responsible for breakfast in the morning and the cleanliness of the room. So she could only pay attention to one room at a time. Breakfast was only rudimentary, as I personally avoid industrial products but was forced to use them. The coffee machine didn't add any more milk to the milky coffee, so we had to heat up a milk carton in the microwave.
The location and the view from the window were brilliant, everything was within easy walking distance and the parking ticket for the Marinara car park was €5 cheaper.

The hotel is very well located in the pedestrian zone near Maria Pita square
The downside is that located in a pedestrian zone, it is impossible to get there by car.
The hotel recommends parking which is a little expensive but it is possible to park 5 minutes away in a normal space and a disabled parking space.

I booked a single room and it looked just like in the photos, not big, but nice and clean. I stayed for 6 nights and had two different rooms both facing an internal patio. You can not hear any traffic at all, only the normal movement from the hostal , some sea gulls and the bells from the churches nearby. I slept very well, AC was excellent. Staff very friendly and gave me good recommendations that showed me the best side of A Coruña.
The location is the best possible, you can easily walk to any site of interest and there is plenty, you don't need a car if you stay here. I warmly recommend this place and am looking forward to coming back again.

Very central structure, practically attached to Piazza Maria Pita and the seafront.
The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable: it was just a shame that our window was on an internal shaft.
We didn't try breakfast because there are bars or pastry shops nearby where you can sit and choose what you prefer.
Advised.

Stayed here at the start and end of a week long trip to Galicia. The hotel is clean, modern and very functional. As i had a single room, there was not much spare room and with no window could have been a little close for a long stay but otherwise was perfect. Arrived early and staff looked after my luggage while I spent the day in A Coruna. The location is perfect, just 2 minutes from the bus stop for the airport shuttle and the famous window lined harbour, and right in the centre of the old town with immediate access to breakfast p[laces, bars, restaurants and shops. It only takes 5-10 minutes to walk across the peninsula to access the beach.

This is a modern pension (seems like recently redone) that boasts clean, efficient rooms for a bargain price. Our room was smallish with no view, but had everything we needed. And had no backpacker vibe whatsoever. The location is fantastic, on the main pedestrian street which is packed with fun and creative stores and restaurants. It’s not even a block from elegant Maria Pita Plaza, with lots of glasses-in cafes.

As we arrived about 6:30 in the evening, traffic in the city was brutal. We were only stopping for the night and we didn’t realize how big this city is. The downtown is some blocks square between the huge beach with wild waves rolling in, and the port/marina where we would see the Sapphire Princess cruise ship up close in the morning. It was so busy we had trouble even finding an empty space to pull over to figure out what to do. We had to book a hotel room on the fly, as we hadn’t been certain where we would stop that night. I booked online, then called to ask where to park. I put the “marina parking parrote” location in my gps, and it came right up. The charge for 24 hours is a whopping 25 euros but the hotel will give you a discounted ticket for 20 euros. I think the hotel price was only 47 euros! If you’re driving, my advice would be to check out the various parking options of different hotels in advance, LOL. This pension is about two blocks from the garage, very doable. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke some English (guaranteed nowhere in northern Spain). We loved the octopus/seafood restaurant they recommended (called Melide).

I wish we could have stayed a few days, especially at that pension price. The city was a wonderful surprise to us. It has the longest waterfront in Europe, worthy of a hike! And an awesome lighthouse that we only drove by. It seemed like something different and stylish or historic was around every corner. On our pedestrian street, 3-piece bands were playing on various corners. The port area was fun — check out the glassed-in apartments facing the water, which apparently have been featured in millions of ads.

This, by the way, is a great cruise ship stop. No need to pay for an excursion. Just get off the ship and wander around the beautiful old town.

We appreciate your kind opinion about our hostel and the city. A Coruña is a beautiful city very unknown, which deserves to be visited with calm and walk through its streets and the large promenade. We hope he comes back, and that we speak better English at that time! Thank you very much and best regards from our staff.

stayed here for eight nights in May. The Alboran is steps away from Plaza de Maria Pita, with its many alfresco restaurants and is situated at the end of Calle Real which is a pedestrian street full of shops and café bars. Our room was at the rear, so there was no noise, however there was no outlook only a window that opened to the small internal courtyard. The room was quiet big with an enormous bathroom with walk in shower. They supplied clean towels everyday along with shower gel and soap. There is a flat screen tv in the room, but only one English channel. The hotel was spotless. It would be nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, rather than a vending machine at reception, which was not working when we stayed. The reception staff were very nice as was the night porter. Special mention to Isobella who always had a big smile. If you want to stay in close proximity to the many bars, restaurants, and the wonderful beaches and the harbour, that La Coruna has to offer, then I would recommend staying here. A Coruna is a wonderful place with wonderful people!

Do you need a comfy, luxurious, spacious room with fluffy pillows and 500 thread count sheets? If so this is NOT your hotel.

If, however, you really don't care about the room itself, but are looking for a cheap room in a great, central location, then BAM! You've found it! This hostal is perfect for those who don't stay in the room for anything other than sleeping. It's about as perfect a location as you can find, right on the main pedestrian path. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. Probably the best attribute to this hotel is the price. An individual room with private bathroom was 25 Euros. Yep, you read that right. Twenty five smackers for an individual room with private bathroom. Seriously, the best deal I've ever seen for an individual room. Is it fancy? HELL NO. It's a room, with a bed and a window and a full bathroom. What more do you need? BUT IT's CHEAP! And in a perfect location. OH! And it was pretty darned quiet, too!

Spent two nights here with a friend to explore the city. Friendly staff. Small language barrier, but it provided us an opportunity to practice our very basic Spanish. Very clean rooms and bathrooms, nice amenities. Air con worked great. Location is very central (near to bus stop) and all of the restaurants and shops in the city center. 20 minute (or so) walk up to the Tower of Hercules lighthouse (must visit). Highly recommended!
