Very clean and cosy, with excellent staff. Don't forget to ask for the wifi password, for the reception is closed from 12 to 8 am. All the conveniences of supermarket and eating places with a park nearby. The area is also a nice suburb feel and still near enough to all the other attractions in Madrid. Place is decent...

I spent one night at this hostal and had a very good experience. Other reviewers have commented negatively about noise and the bathroom facilities but I had no problem. I stayed in Room 35 as a single occupant and the bathroom was large with an excellent shower cabinet. The room is directly opposite the entrance to the hostal so I...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
