I've been staying in Las Musas in September/15 and I had an excellent experience. The location is great, next to a subway station (Tirso de Molina) and a 10-minute walk from Puerta del Sol Square. The staff is amazing, specially Dani Zanim, who answered me always really well, giving me suggestions of tours and Madrid must-see sights. They always prepare...

This was one of my favorite hostels I stayed in throughout my trip in Europe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I had a private room with our own bathroom inside the room. Both were very clean and nice. The bed was comfortable. It could get sort of loud at night, as our window would not...

I stayed there but it was not a very good experience. It can be better in the price paid. The hostel is a mess and always crowded. You can sort out few things to organise it in a better way. The rooms were ok but not very clean. Air conditioning was just ok but the higher floors were burning due...

The hostel is lively and youthful...and appeals to a type that are not bothered about home comforts. It is in a diverse area of Madrid. However the diversity i.e immigrants from Senegal and India only reflect the difficulty of these people's lives and the poor economic situation of the county and its attitude to the poor and working classes... The staff at...

The staff is very nice and proffessional, and the rooms are good price/quality. The only thing I didn't like was that check in is at 3:30 pm and I was not informed about this. Would recommend it but watch out for this!

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
