We stayed in Madrid for 8 days and split our time between the Unico and its sister property the Principal. This property benefits from a very good restaurant and is well located for the upmarket Salamanca area and the Retiro Park and main Museum's are all a short to medium walk away. Very good reception and concierge staff who assisted...

Great location,Great staff, fantastic dinning there or a short walk. We did have a snag during our stay. The AC in our room was down. The night was not as restful as we would have like. But it ended with a young woman at the front desk asking about our stay. She asked what she could to do, we informed...

Hotel has wonderful location, just in the heart of Barrio Salamanca. Shopping and strolling are ver convenient. Hotel is nice and clean. Rooms are small and recently refurbished. There is a noise issue with doors and windows, witch don't block sound effectively.

We had driven from Granada that day and the good news was there is a hotel area to park while unloading luggage. Otherwise the street parking is impossible. The small boutique style hotel is lovely with two lounge areas on the main floor after reception. However if two people are in the lounge conversing, it can become very loud and...

We had a great stay here -- our room was small but lovely, lighting was good, and it was quiet. The public spaces at this hotel are really inviting and I found it easy to get work done while also relaxing in the Library -- and when you step out onto the street the shopping, dining, and strolling of the...

We had been at Único before and our opinion is, again, very positive. Good location, excellent staff, rooms well furnished and equipped. Try to avoid those with a back view; a little claustrophobic. Unfortunately could not try Ramon Freixa restaurant (Michelin star). Don't forget to reserve before your stay.

Its a nice little hotel, great location in city center Madrid. I spend two nights at this hotel and it deserves high ranking, the rooms are comfortably appointed, nice views over the interior garden, large bathroom with natural light too. Excellent buffet breakfast, and friendly and professional staff. Do not miss the Ramon Freixa's Restaurant, a 2 Michelin Star, it...

I've been traveling to Madrid due to Business and had the pleasure to stay in this amazing hotel. Located in the city centre, next to several restaurants and all Designer Boutiques, this hotel offers a luxury service from the beginning on. The staff is gorgeous and always with a smile. The rooms were spacious, very beautiful and had coffee and...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
