Got the junior suite and boy was it worth it. Faced the inner courtyard, so no street noise and only a bit of breakfast crew noise in the morning, but nothing jarring. Bed was a true king size (I'm guessing 200 X 200 for your metric folks). Very comfortable, a variety of pillows to choose from - hard and soft. Good size bathroom with a sink big enough for 2 (and 2 faucets) and an enclosed shower *with two showers in it!*. Great water pressure, enjoyed the provided shampoo, etc. Two good sized TVs - one in the bedroom, one in the "living room". French doors in bathroom, bedroom and living room, so if you felt the need for fresh air, you could get it instantly. What stood out above all, however, was the friendly and helpful service. VERY customer focused. We got a birthday cake (unasked for) for the birthday boy, got a free map with highlighted recommendations (our first time to Madrid, so this was helpful), a few free snacks at the front desk and big free bottle of filtered water in the room. There is also a minibar if you want to pay minibar prices. Breakfast looked good, but we thought 30 Euros was too pricey so we ate locally. The place is very centrally located - you can get almost anywhere you'd want to visit in a 15 minute walk. English spoken (if you need that) by all but the housekeeper. Given the cost of hotels these days, I'd say we got good value for money, although it was the off season. Would definitely come back and now we're probably going to stay with them when we eventually visit Sevilla.

Great choice. Privileged location, allowing to reach the main tourist points on foot. Service impeccable, cordial and anticipating all the needs of guests (detailing to the Marcos, very helpful Brazilian). Perfect quality of sleep, from the first of the bedding, to the diversity of pillows, the quality of the mattresses and the acoustic and thermal insulation of the apartment. Immaculate bathroom, with great bathrobes, great shower and first-class amenities. Perfect cleaning in all environments. Breakfast of excellent quality, despite the little variety, served daily until 11:00 hs (facilitating the guest's life on holiday) and no extra charge for room service. It can improve the room lighting, but it is nothing to harm the evaluation, as I will surely return to this property.

CoolRooms Palacio Atocha Calle de Atocha, 34, Centro, 28012
An impressive hotel ideally situated at 34 Calle de Atocha, a short walking distance from most of the Madrid’s city attractions. CoolRooms Atocha sits in the heart of Las Letras neighborhood, one of the most attractive areas in the city and is the flagship hotel from the CoolRooms brand. The building was a majestic palatial house from 1852 rehabilitated into a luxury hotel. The internal decor, sumptuous interiors and more importantly the amazing staff guarantee a memorable stay in the heart of Madrid.
The modest exterior almost shrouds the 19th-century palace-house in secrecy, which is over once you step inside and see the richly decorated molded walls and ceilings plus stunning, bright and spacious rooms and suites.
The ground floor boasts a perfect little bar, a lovely deck area with a cool (very) pool and seating for about 30 persons. The breakfast room is next to the pool and can alternate between opening all windows or using internal patio heaters if it’s cold.
A nightcap in the bar was always great and we managed to catch up with other guests from Toronto and New Jersey giving us the opportunity to share and learn from each others experiences in the city.
The staff must be congratulated from the cleaning team to bar staff, reception and restaurant staff all are so friendly, welcoming and make sure you’re enjoying your stay.
Joe Diaz from reception along with Ismael and Marmen in the bar and restaurant definitely need a special mention. They went out of their way to say hello, chat and take care of you. Not forgetting the night owl Luis, again on reception.
An impressive and highly recommended hotel which will make you want to return.

Rooms are nice but overpriced for the quality of the hotel facilities, surroundings, location and staff. It is not a 4-star hotel.
Positive online reviews and beautiful photos of the rooms persuaded us to book the hotel for 5 nights in March of 2024. The rooms are very nice, however, the online photos/reviews not capture that hotel closely backs up to an apartment building, often with laundry hanging out to dry.
The staff at CoolRooms were very nice but lacked experience working in a nice hotel. On multiple occasions housekeeping entered our locked room in the morning after a quick knock and front desk (no concierge) struggled to make restaurant reservations.
There is only one small, slow elevator which encouraged us to take stairs which have poor design causing both of us to trip on multiple occasions.
It was warm for Madrid when we arrived and the room was hot; too hot o sleep and bright lights on the hotel's exterior discouraged leaving the windows open overnight. Unfortunately the front desk said the hotel can only support only one of heating or air-conditioning at a time. After an uncomfortable night of sleep, we complained to a manager but were told that the hotel couldn't quickly switch from heat to A/C for a temporary warm spell. We expressed our disappointment that a 4-star hotel for $400 per night would not have air conditioning. To CoolRooms credit, they had the A/C on that evening.
Finally, the area immediately surrounding the hotel is not great; too many hostels and fast food restaurants.
During our stay, we had dinner at the Edition hotel which we also considered for our stay. It was similarly priced and, while we did not see the rooms, common areas were significantly nicer with very professional staff.

Response from Guest Manager, Dueño at CoolRooms Palacio de Atocha
Responded May 13, 2024
Dear @QualityConscious, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review after your stay with us in March. We appreciate all your comments and they have been shared with all corresponding departments. We are sorry to see that your experience didn't live up to your expectations. Regarding the architecture of the building, it is a palace from 1852. The main staircase dates back to that time and is protected by heritage law, which means the steps are the original ones. The distribution of the rooms, the common areas and the space for the elevator are all dictated by the original structure, which had to be mantained to preserve and respect the history of the building. This means the experience is different to that from a 21st-century hotel. As for the issues you mention with the staff, I shared your concerns with the team as soon as you shared them with me. Housekeeping, following protocol, only stays away from rooms that have the "do not disturb sign" or specifically ask them not to come into the room. Otherwise, they are instructed to do the morning cleaning, as well as the turn-down service. The Front Desk/Concierge Team is always happy to help with restaurant reservations, and I also made sure to share your feedback with the person you had the issue with. I really hope your communication with the rest of the team, as well as me, was satisfactory. I completely understand your inquiry about the AC, and I am glad we could solve it swiftly. All in all, we wish your stay with us had been the 5-star experience we always strive to provide for all of our guests. I remain at your entire disposal for any other comments or suggestions you may have. Thank you again. Best wishes, Sonia Yagüe - Guest Experience Manager, Palacio de Atocha by CoolRooms Manor Hotels

We traveled from the US and were in Madrid for 3 days and this was an AMAZING hotel. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is centrally located to everything and you can walk everywhere to find food, snacks or shopping. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a junior suite and it was 5 stars. The room was insanely spacious. They had made up the couch for a bed for my daughter. There were robes with slippers for all of us and designated pool towels in the room. The toilet and shower are separate from each other and the sink was as well, so easily 3 people could use the bathroom at the same time. The toiletries they provided were awesome,I don’t know if it’s for all the rooms or just the suites but they thought of everything. Toothbrushes, shaving kit, comb, exfoliating mitt, shower cap, shoe polish rag. It was crazy what was available. We ate at the patio/outside restaurant and the food was DELICIOUS!! I had stayed at the Waldorf in New York and this place was WAY BETTER!! The only negative if you want to call it that, is I wished there was a little table to place my clothes on in the bathroom. There was more than ample about of space and an extra spot to place things down would have been perfect. Also another hook to hang our towels on, there were three of us in the room but only 2 hooks. Other than that I can’t find anything bad about this hotel. I definitely will be back soon.

This pretty hotel is conveniently located in the C. de Atocha, not far from the train station and the beautiful sights. There are countless restaurants and several subway stations in the surrounding area. You can reach everything perfectly on foot or by subway, which runs every 3 minutes. We received a very friendly welcome and our suite was already ready. The suite is generously sized, very tastefully decorated, and the stylish bathroom was fortunately very large, something you rarely have in city hotels. The bed was huge and the mattresses were wonderfully back-friendly. There were even two wardrobes with a sufficient number of hangers. Our windows faced the courtyard so it was very quiet. The service in the hotel/restaurant was friendly, courteous, helpful and attentive. We felt very comfortable throughout our entire stay. The breakfast was varied, everything was freshly prepared and brought to the table. (fortunately no buffet). You could order other delicious dishes and drinks from a menu. The pool area and the seating around it are just as tasteful and invite you to have a drink. We couldn't swim due to the bad weather. Based on our impression, we can recommend this hotel without reservation.

It is an absolute pleasure to write a positive review for COOLROOMS, Atocha Palace. My stay there was perfect in every way. The most comfortable bed of my 4 weeks in Spain..the most fantastic shower, a rainshower that was soooo relaxing , along with wonderful bath towels and robes….and even a curling iron for my hair, that I really appreciated The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and even with a lighting system that makes sense..... and the room was soundproofed. Room service was prompt…little extras were anticipated so it was unnecessary to call down because something was needed after food arrived. The staff is the best part of a perfect stay. They are efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I feel staying at COOLROOMS is one of the highlights of going to Madrid. They make me feel as though I’m the only person that they need to attend to….but I am sure that they make all their guests feel the same. The location is perfect for everything …museums, great restaurants and shopping..in addition Broadway shows are right down the street…Book of Mormons was playing when I was there. I am looking forward to my next trip to Madrid and with no reservations, I will choose to stay at COOLROOMS Atocha Palace.

We absolutely loved our stay here! We had a junior suite on the first floor and it was hugeeee, with a gorgeous bathroom too. The quality of all the products and bed linen was amazing too. It’s a great location 5 minutes walking to anything really. Wow Madrid is soooo busy though
We didn’t opt for breakfast as there are lovely places in Madrid and 50Euros+ felt too expensive for the two of us.
Staff were lovely and helpful at the desk with recommends and circling fab things on a map for us. We followed all their recommendations and weren’t disappointed
The pool is really cute too, there’s not tonnes of chairs but both times we managed to find somewhere to sit.
The only niggle was housekeeping, we came back after a morning out at 1:30pm and our room hadn’t been cleaned , and also at 10pm it hadn’t been turned down. We didn’t need it so it was fine. And reception were helpful when I called them!
Thanks for a lovely stay

We absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous hotel. The room was palatial in size, beautiful and clean. The bathroom was designed entirely in marble and had everything you would need. The room had two balconies which overlooked the street. The entire staff was very kind, and went out of their way to be most accommodating and helpful. It’s location was central, which provided easy access to all the major sites in the center of Madrid. Sit down breakfast overlooking the pool offered a large menu and made for a special place to dine. We will definitely be staying here the next time we’re in the city.

The great reviews for CoolRooms Atocha are well deserved. We (mother and teen daughter) just stayed for a week and couldn't have been happier. The room was plenty big enough for both of us, the double faucet sink in the bathroom and bedroom desk with mirror made it easy for us to get ready at the same time without waiting or crowding, the room had a full-length mirror to check your outfit, the Molton Brown toiletries were wonderful, and the shower had great water pressure with plenty of hot water.
Other things we appreciated: The air conditioning and overhead ceiling fan were a lifesaver after several days of touring in 100 F temps, as was the small plunge pool that was about waist deep but enough to quickly cool you off. Nearly everything was within walking distance depending on your tolerance but if you get tired, there are two Metro stops within a few minutes so you can ride the subway instead. Forget to pack something or want to buy some snacks for your room? There are a couple shops on the same street that carry almost anything you'd need. We received a fresh bottle of complementary water each day (perhaps about a liter glass bottle) that we used to refill our own drinking bottles before setting out on foot in the morning.
The bed was large and comfortable and best of all, the hotel was blissfully quiet each night as we were exhausted and ready to sleep. We'd close the room darkening drapes that were on a switch and easily oversleep in the morning if we didn't set an alarm because we'd barely hear a peep.
We were also consistently impressed by the staff. The man who checked us in gave a warm welcome and spent time circling popular areas of the city and the location of important sights on a map, and offered to give any recommendations or help with anything else needed. Each time we passed by the lobby throughout the week we were greeted by him or another front desk attendant - always friendly, always helpful and professional. Housekeeping kept the place looking spotless and I would often leave a small little note of thanks in the mornings, one day returning in the afternoon to find a short note of thanks in exchange. All the little things like that added up and made CoolRooms Atocha a hotel we would highly recommend to anyone planning a stay in Madrid. Enjoy!

There are a number of breakfast spots close by, with very reasonable prices. The breakfast here was not worth it IMO as they served us still frozen pancakes one morning
