We spent 3 nights here and we were very satisfied. Very nice staff, clean room, clean bathroom, warm room (we came to Madrid on winter) and Gran Via was only 5 minutes walking. Their only lack was the elevator. Since it's the old building, they don't have any elevator. But over all it was perfect. Would recommend this to my...

This Hostal is simply brilliant based on location and price The Malasana district is great for drinks and food and the metro station is right by this hostal - although you can walk Madrid it's a great city. Stairs are not really an issue unless you have lots of bags and the staff offered to come and help us which...

I highly recommend this hostel because of the astounding combination of price, staff experience, room furnishings, and location! Price: Very well-priced! Staff experience: Able to give you better directions than Google Maps! Rooms: Sparkling clean washrooms and power outlets right beside your bed! Location: 400 meters walking distance to TWO subway stations and THREE subway lines! Need I say more?

Exceptionally good value for money. Very clean. Very helpful staff who speak English. Location is excellent. Only one minute walk to the metro where you can easily catch a train to Sol for more shopping and other tourist attractions or one stop to Prado Museum. Walking distance to central Madrid, restaurants, shopping lots of things. Supermarket right next door and...

Three blocks from Plaza España, two blocks off the Gran Via. My teenage niece and I stayed here 4 nights in late June. We got the double room with ensuite shower. Air-conditioned, wifi and tv. Clean, modern and quiet, even with Madrid's famous nightlife. Plenty of cafe/bars for breakfast. Easy walk to Sol, Opera, Palacio Real and Plaza Mayor. No...

Very clean, air con, comfy bed. Quiet room. A long way up the stairs but we had our bags carried up for us by the super fit staff member. He was very helpful in directing us to places of interest for an over night stay in Madrid. Close to metro and city centre. Highly recommend!

Very nice hostel, clean, renewed, well located near theater, cinemas, restaurants, Sol and Plaza Mayor. If you are travelling with a lot of luggage just mind you will have to use two and a half floors to reach it.

This is the best "hostal" I ever stayed in until now. Located in an ancient building of 1910'-1920' and all its rooms are on the second floor, recently renovated with a contemporary design. I did liked the efficient decoration and the arrangement of furnitures in my room. The electronic curtain separates you perfectly from the day shine and the window...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
