My friends and I were looking for a budget-friendly but reasonably nice and safe place to stay during our visit. We were dissatisfied with the customer service and on arrival witnessed a couple checking out showing the owner BED BUG bites. We were concerned and thoroughly checked our beds 4 times, feeling uncomfortable with our choice. The hostel is outdated...

Horrible place. When we checked in we saw guests leaving early, complaining & showing their bedbug scars to the manager after staying overnight. No talking allowed after 12AM. No visitors allowed - very impractical for families & groups visiting cities together. Manager is completely mental! 12PM checkout time is STRICT - 15 or even 5 mins past will result in...

the only good thing about the hostel is its location but i don't think it's worth the money because of the following reasons: 1) the lady was very friendly to us on the first day but when we left 15 mins late after check out time on the last day, she completely changed her attitude and insisted on charging us...

I stayed there with some friends and all I can say is that we were really pleased with the place. It's right in the center of Madrid, at walking distance from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The street of the hostal itself is really crowded and busy during the day and there you can find lots of shops and...

Hostal Zamoran was basic but we got what we paid for. We stayed in December 2010 when even Madrid was having heavy snowfalls, and unlike other reviewers we didn't find the rooms cold at all. The location is brilliant, our party were aged from 19 to 50 and we all loved the area. It could have been noisy at night...

We rented an appartment, the rooms are very basic but clean. the owners are nice and speak a bit english. the location is right in the city and easily accessible, but the biggest problems is that the appartments are located at calle de hortaleza, one of the busiest nightlife streets in madrid. bring earplugs if you want to sleep.

They have a good central location, but the rooms are sub-standard, as is the service (one has to keep asking them to put the heating on). Also, you can hear practically everyone else in the hostal - the walls are really thin. The wifi only works at the reception.

This hotel/Hostal does exactly what it needs to. It provides good clean accommodation right in the city center. The staff were friendly, the room was exactly like it looks on the website, and the price was great. The one downside is the local area itself, which is pretty rough. If your coming back to the hostal after 10pm your bound...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.

“We were on a street facing room and enjoyed looking out on to the street as there was a lot going on. I am unsure if the hotel had rooms not looking on to the main street however these may be something to consider if you need it to be very quiet.”
